2022 York Ebor Festival Thursday Ante-Post Tip – DS
2022 York Ebor Festival Thursday Ante-Post Tip
We have already backed a horse at 25/1 for the Ebor, see that tip here. We also have another 2022 York Ebor Festival ante-post fancy and he runs in the Clipper Logistics Heritage Handicap at 3.00 on Thursday. David O’Meara has already done us a turn this season with Orbaan at Goodwood and in that race, Young Fire shaped eye-catchingly well off 99.
Like his winning stablemate, Young Fire had a nice draw. However, unlike his stablemate, he didn’t get anywhere near as clear a run. Sean Levey met a fair bit of trouble in the straight but once the daylight came his mount ran on really well. Okay, he only finished 8th, but he was only 5L behind the easy winner and more importantly, he was only 2L behind his other stablemate, Blue For You in 2nd.
Tudhope Prefers Shelir
Blue For You was hiked up 3lbs for that run, whereas Young Fire was dropped 1lb to 98. That is a 4lbs swing, and he is even better off with Orbaan (13lbs). O’Meara also has Shelir entered up here and Tudhope is on him. David Probert is on our selection and that is a plus. He has ridden him before, including last time out at Haydock when he was too keen. Probert has ridden more horses for this owner than anyone else, producing 12 wins and 45 Top 4 finishes from 128 rides.
The rain forecast this week would be a huge plus, though not essential. Yes, all of Young Fire’s turf wins have come on soft but he handles quick ground as he showed at Goodwood and when a close 2nd here over 7f on his seasonal return. This horse loves the hustle and bustle of a big field and sometimes, he can be a hostage to fortune. However, on his day he is extremely talented and if there is lots of rain, he won’t mind in the slightest. At odds of 66/1, there are enough upsides to warrant an e/w bet.
