2023 Saturday Czech Darts Open Preview
James Punt went 2/3 last night at the Czech Darts Open, including a winner at 6.50. Check out his 2023 Saturday Czech Darts Open betting preview and tips below.
Ordinary Saturday
Looking at this afternoon’s darting menu, it is the least appealing session I have seen on the Euro Tour for a long time. I would be surprised if we lost more than one or two seeds this afternoon.
Andrew Gilding vs. Vincent van der Voort
This is the second most competitive match of the afternoon session, and Gilding is a 1.50 favourite.
Big Vinny dispatched Jamie Hughes 6-1 yesterday. It was all a bit easy and he was only OK. The bottom line is that he has lost five of his last ten matches and his seasonal win rate is just 44%. That isn’t going to get him very far.
Andrew Gilding has bit some poor form, losing five of his last ten matches. He is still hitting some high notes, such as his 108 average when beating Ian White at this stage in Austria, but he is not at his best.
Their H2H rate is 7-5 to Van der Voort, but Gilding won both their matches last year 6-2 and 6-3. They have a tendency for short matches with eight of their twelve being under 9.5 legs.
If Gilding was playing just a little better, under 9.5 legs would get the nod, but his could turn out to be a bit of a grind. No bet.

Dave Chisnall vs. Geert Nentjes
Chizzy, one of our ante post selections, is the 1.20 favourite here. Nentjes averaged 83.19 in his laboured, lucky 6-5 win over local qualifier David Pisek yesterday. Pisek should have won but for some careless darts at the death, but it was his first Euro Tour match and he was a massive outsider.
These two have met twice and it is Nentjes who has won both, two 6-5 wins. He is the 4.50 outsider and worth considering given that H2H record. However, he is in very poor form. His win rate is just 39% in 2023 and yesterday’s ’win’ ended a run of six consecutive defeats. He is really struggling and an in-form Dave Chisnall should power past him.
There is no value in Chisnall’s odds and this is just another uncompetitive match which hopefully Chisnall can win and move on to the third round. No bet.

Martin Schindler vs. Kim Huybrechts
This is the most competitive match of the session. Schindler is the 1.53 favourite, so I am using the word competitive loosely. Schindler has played 14 Euro Tour matches this season and won 7. His recent form sees six wins from ten but he is not in his best form.
His last seven matches saw no 95+ averages and it a month since he had two good runs in PC9 and PC10, reaching two quarter finals and hitting some big numbers. He looked like he was coming to the boil but he is just simmering now.
Thrashed
Huybrechts thrashed a very poor Callan Rydz 6-1 last night. Rydz was a late call up and he forgot to pack his game. A 75 average was the worst of the day and Huybrechts did well to stick to his task and not take his foot off the gas.
The Belgian averaged 95.97 and with more of that, he can cause Schindler problems. It was Huybrechts’ first Euro Tour win of the season and he has lost six of his last ten matches. His scoring has been poor with six sub 90 averages and it will be interesting to see if that win can get him back into a more confident frame of mind.
Their H2H record is 5-4 to Schindler but they haven’t met for 17 months. Of their eight best of 11 leg matches, six have been under ten legs and on the Euro Tour it is 1-1. Those matches finished 6-0 and 6-1.

Dirk van Duijvenbode vs. Mario Vandenbogaerde
Super Mario is the 4.35 outsider here, which would be fair enough if he was facing a fully fit Van Duijvenbode, but it is likely Dirk will still be felling discomfort from his knee injury.
He reached the semi-final last weekend but his scoring was well off his seasonal average of 96.4. His averages last weekend were 91.6, 93.4, 93.6 and 84.88. Fairly ordinary.
Vandenbogaerde is perhaps being disregarded here. He is averaging 92.6 in 2023, and he averaged 96.99 in yesterday’s 6-5 win over Matt Campbell, which was the match of the day in terms of quality and entertainment. He has won five of his last ten matches, so he is not in great form but he has a good A game.
If Dirk is below his usual level, we could have more of a game than the odds suggest.

Nathan Aspinall vs. Martin Lukeman
Two players who are not in great form, The Asp having lost six of his last ten and Lukeman five. Aspinall has been playing at a higher level than Lukeman and he has won five of his six Euro Tour round two matches in 2023.
He deserves to be the favourite, but is he a banker at 1.40? Probably not, but is Lukeman playing well enough to oppose him? Probably not. Getting a +2.5 handicap? Why not.
