2024 German Darts Sunday Preview & Tips – JP
2024 German Darts Sunday Tips
James Punt had a superb day at the German Darts Grand Prix on Saturday. He fired in six winners from seven bets and he is hoping for more of the same today. Check out his 2024 German Darts Sunday Tips below.
Ross Smith vs. Brendan Dolan
We are on Smith for the title, so hopefully he can win this one. Past form says he won’t. Their H2H form is 8-1 to Dolan, but they have not met since 2021. Smith is in great form and hopefully he gets the job done, but odds of 1.53 make no appeal given that H2H record. No bet.
2024 German Darts Sunday Tips: No Bet
Josh Rock vs. Richard Veenstra
Rock is low on confidence, losing seven of his last ten matches. He also has a losing H2H record against Veenstra. The Dutchman is 3-1 vs Rock, including a 6-2 win back in February.
Veenstra isn’t banker material but given that Rock is losing a lot of matches, there is only one choice here.
2024 German Darts Sunday Tips: 1 point Richard Veenstra to win @ 2.60 with Ladbrokes
Krzysztof Ratajski vs. Chris Dobey
The Polish Eagle is not in great form, losing five of his last ten matches. He has played some very good stuff, including a 115 average three matches back, but you really don’t know what you are going to get.
Dobey enjoyed seeing Newcastle come back from the dead to win 4-3 yesterday. He then went out and hit a 103 average in a 6-2 win over the Swedish qualifier.
Dobey is 3-1 against Ratajski, but they haven’t met since 2020. He is the better player and with six wins from his last ten, is in better form. Dobey doesn’t have many off days and if Ratajski has one of his poor outings, it could be an easy win for the Geordie.
Dobey is 1.50 to win but I’ll take a chance with the handicap.
2024 German Darts Sunday Tips: 1 point Dobey to win -1.5 legs @ 1.85 with Fitzdares
Ricardo Pietreczko vs. Ryan Joyce
Joyce simply outdoubled the unlucky Kevin Doets yesterday. The Dutchman just wired everything, while Joyce demonstrated why he is ranked number 1 for checkout % over the last 12 months. He is not in great form, losing five of his last ten, but he is never a player to write off.
Ricardo made the semi-final of ET1 and beat Joyce 6-4 en-route. The overly sensitive German won’t have any problems with this crowd and he is in decent form, winning six of his last ten matches. However, three of his last four saw sub 84 averages.
Both players can be backed at 2.00. This isn’t a betting match for me. No bet.
2024 German Darts Sunday Tips: No bet
Stephen Bunting vs. Jermaine Wattimena
Wattimena didn’t have to get out of second gear to beat Franz Rötzsch 6-0 in the first round. He has won seven of his last ten matches and is in rare good form.
We are on Bunting outright and the 2024 Masters winner is playing well, also winning seven of his last ten. Bunting is very consistent these days and Wattimena will need his A game to compete.
Wattimena is 5-4 vs. Bunting and beat him 6-2 back in February. Hopefully Bunting can reverse that result, and he is the 1.33 favourite to do so, but this is a no bet match for me.
2024 German Darts Sunday Tips: No bet
Ryan Searle vs. Steve Lennon
Lennon inflicted our only loss yesterday, beating Wenig 6-3 in a poor match where both players averaged 86. Lennon has lost six of his last ten matches and while he is better than an 86 average, four of his last ten matches have seen sub 90 averages.
Ryan Searle has dipped in form, losing five of his last ten, but his scoring is usually decent at worst. He is 3-0 vs. Lennon and should be able to improve on that.
Searle is the 1.41 favourite, Lennon 3.40. Searle -1.5 on the handicap is just 1.60, and there is little value here. No bet.
2024 German Darts Sunday Tips: No Bet
Rob Cross vs. Daryl Gurney
Two old sparring partners going H2H for the twenty fifth time. Cross has won fifteen, but Gurney has won the last two, albeit back in 2023 and 2022.
Cross comes here on the back of four straight defeats, including a very poor performance against Peter Wright in the PL. Cross only averaged 86.29 in that match. However, he is one of the most consistent high scorers in the game, he just finds winning hard.
Superchin beat a poor version of James Wade 6-3 yesterday, but Gurney averaged 97 and after a slow start he just smashed Wade up in the end. He has won eight of his last ten matches and is now playing with more confidence.
Cross is a tough opponent, you usually have to do everything well to beat him, but Gurney is playing well enough to do just that. Cross is the 1.57 favourite, Gurney 2.40. I’ll give Gurney another go.
2024 German Darts Sunday Tips: 1 point Daryl Gurney to win @ 2.40 with Betfred
Dirk van Duijvenbode vs. Nathan Aspinall
Dirk is on the comeback trail, winning seven of his last ten and looking more like his old self. Aspinall had an easy warm up, beating Unterbuchner 6-2 yesterday. Aspinall has won six of his last ten matches and looks to have found some decent form.
Dirk was runner up in PC6 last time out, and he will now believe that he is back and ready to compete at the top again. However, he hasn’t enjoyed much success against Aspinall and it is The Asp who leads their h2h 8-3. Dirk hasn’t beaten Aspinall since 2020 and he has lost their last five meetings.
Aspinall is the favourite, Van Duijvenbode 2.30. The money is going down on Dirk, but it is not one for me. Their last Euro Tour match was last October, before Dirk’s injury and that one went to a decider, as did their previous Euro Tour match back in 2020. Another close match would be no surprise.
