2024 International Darts Open Saturday Preview

What a day for James Punt. Six bets, six winners, including a 2 pointer. A full house. Incredible tipping and he’s back with more selections for this evening’s session. Check out his 2024 International Darts Open Saturday match previews below.

Full House

It was nice to get a full house this afternoon and what a session of darts it was. The only thing missing was a nine darter and Chris Dobey very nearly got one. This evening’s session will have some way to go to match the quality we saw earlier. Hopefully we can get a couple of winners to keep things ticking over.

Ricardo Pietreczko vs. James Wade

Wade beat the disappointing Mike de Decker 6-3 yesterday. De Decker missed plenty of chances to win a fourth leg and our bet but once again he underwhelmed. De Decker is in danger of becoming the new Jermaine Wattimena.

It was a good performance by Wade, averaging 96.8, and he has won five of his last ten. Last night’s win ended a run of four straight defeats, so it remains to be seen if he can keep it going.

Pietreczko is not in good form, losing six of his last ten and six saw sub 91 averages. He has home crowd advantage, but Wade rarely gets too wound up by that.

James Wade is the marginal 1.91 favourite, with Ricardo 2.00. Wade makes some appeal, but is his form rock solid? Not yet. No bet.

2024 International Darts Open Saturday Tip: No Bet

Dave Chisnall vs. Richard Veenstra

Veenstra has gone out at this stage in the first two Euro Tour events of 2024. He is not a Euro Tour specialist, Chizzy is. Veenstra has lost five of his last ten matches and he is not the most consistent player around.

Dave Chisnall picked up four titles on the Euro Tour last year, but he went out in the first round in Belgium and the second round in the German Darts Grand Prix. He has won seven of his last ten, but lost three of his last four, so it is hard to say what kind of form he is in.

Chisnall is the 1.44 favourite and that looks about right. No bet.

2024 International Darts Open Saturday Tip: No Bet

Joe Cullen vs. Martin Schindler

Martin Schindler showed no mercy when beating a local qualifier 6-1. Schindy averaged 97.3 and he has won seven of his last ten matches. He reached the semi-finals of the German Darts Grand Prix last month and he is able to get the benefit from home advantage.

Joe Cullen was elevated to seeded status thanks to the two pre-tournament withdrawals. He is not in great form, losing five of his last ten matches, and he is struggling for consistency.

Their H2H record is 5-2 to Joe Cullen, 3-0 on the Euro Tour and he has already beaten Schindler in Europe this year, a 6-1 win in Belgium.

Cullen is just one of those players I struggle with. He does the opposite of what I expect him to do. Schindler is the 1.91 favourite, with Cullen 2.00. It is a hard one to call and I will happily sit this one out.

2024 International Darts Open Saturday Tip: No Bet

Gerwyn Price vs. Brendan Dolan

The four time International Darts Open champion, Gerwyn Price, has a chance to avenge his World Championship defeat by Brendan Dolan.

Price is playing really well and has been for a while, but he just can’t win titles. He has won five of his last ten matches and hit seven ton plus averages. A poor return on phenomenal scoring.

Brendan Dolan is involved in a race to the World Cup of Darts place. Daryl Gurney is currently set to join Josh Rock in the Northern Ireland team, but Superchin is already on his way home, and Dolan is just £5000 behind him. The cut off is in six weeks’ time, so there is time to close that gap, starting here.

Ton Plus

Like Price, Dolan has won five of his last ten matches and he has hit three ton plus averages, including a 103.85 last night.

Dolan has gone out in the last two second rounds on the Euro Tour this year, both 1-6 defeats. He isn’t a prolific winner on the Euro Tour and I wonder if he has his bag packed?

Their H2H record is very close, 7-6 to Price, but in Europe, 3-0 to Price. Those wins saw scores of 6-3, 6-4 and 6-4. This a potential banana skin for Price and I expect a motivated Dolan to make some kind of impression on the match.

2024 International Darts Open Saturday Tip: 1 point Brendan Dolan to win +2.5 legs @ 1.73 with Betfred

Josh Rock vs. Cameron Menzies

Menzies underlined what a good season he is having by averaging 101 in his 6-4 win over Simon Whitlock last night. He has only won five of his last ten matches but his seasonal win rate is 68%.

Josh Rock has found his form again and seems keen to get on with it, strike while the iron is hot and all that. He was runner up on Monday and has won eight of his last ten matches. He is not quite back to his best, but he will be feeling a lot happier after a spell in the doldrums.

Their H2H record is 2-1 to Menzies and all three matches have ended 6-3.

2024 International Darts Open Saturday Tip: 0.5 point. Josh Rock to win 6-3 @ 6.50 generally available

Luke Humphries vs. Jose de Sousa

We saw a bit of the old Jose last night as he averaged 98 in a 6-3 win over Cor Dekker. The enormous Norwegian played a blinder himself, but The Special One got his eye in on the treble 20 and hit four maximums to overpower Dekker. However, that was just his third win in his last ten matches.

Luke Humphries has won seven of his last ten matches, but admits he is feeling the pace. Humphries has played 56 matches in 2024 and the constant travelling for the Premier League and European tour events is taking a toll. He has only hit two ton plus averages in his last thirteen matches. He had been doing it in around 50% of his matches a few weeks ago.

Their H2H record is 8-5 to Jose, although Humphries has won three of their last four.

Humphries is the 1.20 favourite to win and this is not of much interest. No bet.

2024 International Darts Open Saturday Tip: No Bet

Dirk van Duijvenbode vs. Gabriel Clemens

Clemens beat Peter Wright 6-5 in a pretty low quality affair last night. The big German is not in good form, losing six of his last ten matches, and he is struggling.

Dirk is on the comeback trail and seems fully recovered from his various injuries of 2023. He has won six of his last ten matches but his scoring is not what it was when he was in peak form.

Their H2H record is 2-0 to Dirk, including a 8-0 win in a Players Championship final. Playing Van Duijvenbode might just remind Clemens that he remains without a PDC title.

Dirk van Duijvenbode is the 1.83 favourite and that is good enough for me.

2024 International Darts Open Saturday Tip: 1 point Dirk van Duijvenbode to win @ 1.83 with SpreadEx

Rob Cross vs. Gian van Veen

Van Veen got the better of Raymond van Barneveld again last night. His 6-3 win means he has won eight of his last ten matches.

Rob Cross has won five of his last ten matches but he looks to have rediscovered his scoring boots, after a bit of a dip in form in that department.

Their H2H record in interesting. It is 3-1 to Van Veen and their last three all ended 6-5. Cross’ only win came on the Euro Tour last season.

Cross is the 1.60 favourite, Van Veen 2.45. That seems a bit dismissive of Van Veen given their H2H record. We are on Gian Van Veen outright, so there is no need to get involved, but I will have a go on total legs.

2024 International Darts Open Saturday Tip: 1 point over 9.5 legs @ 2.10 with Betfair
