2024 NFL Regular Season GW8

Jan Keys is sitting on a 21-16 record after his sole prop bet on TNF didn’t land. Check out Jan’s 2024 NFL Regular Season GW8 preview and picks below.

BALTIMORE RAVENS (5-2) @ CLEVELAND BROWNS (1-6)

Vegas Line: Baltimore -9; Total Points 44.0

My Rating: Baltimore -8; Total Points 48.1

Baltimore extended their winning streak to five in a row with another good win on Monday night. They remain strong contenders for the Superbowl and this will be considered an easy match up. In However, in Week 2 they had an easy match up at Home to Las Vegas and managed to lose that one. Baltimore have a great rushing game which allows them to control matches, the big question is will they cover 9 points?

Although Cleveland lost at home to Cincinnati last week as expected, they were statistically very good. This is a little bit of encouragement for a poor team who are already looking to next season after trading their best Wide Receiver to Buffalo for a third round pick.

Cleveland come into this match without No.1 QB Deshaun Watson, although many will say it’s not a great loss. Jameis Winston gets the call for this match at QB. Many judges think +9 Cleveland is fair for a home Divisional match, but Baltimore could blow them away.

TENNESSEE TITANS (1-5) @ DETROIT LIONS (5-1)

Vegas Line: Detroit -11.5; Total Points 45.0

My Ratings: Detroit -15; Total Points 46.6

It just hasn’t happened for the Tennessee Titans this season as they continue with a big injury list and little morael, this is not a time to be playing the Detroit Lions. The Titans suffered a 34-10 defeat in Buffalo after leading 10-0 in the Second Quarter. The season is long gone for the Titans and rebuilding will need to start. Another hefty defeat is on the cards.

Detroit Lions had a big Divisional win last week against the unbeaten Vikings. Detroit remain third favourites for the Superbowl and number one NFC challengers. Winning in Dallas two games ago by 47-9 shows that beating a big spread is within their capabilities. It seems crazy tipping a team -11.5 but even my ratings have it -15.

2024 NFL Regular Season GW8 Tip: DETROIT LIONS -11.5

ARIZONA CARDINALS (3-4) @ MIAMI DOLPHINS (2-4)

Vegas Line: Miami -3; Total Points 46.0

My Ratings: Miami -5; Total Points 41.9

The Arizona Cardinals sneaked a nice win last week against the L.A. Chargers 17-15. The Cardinals have had a mixed bag of results and last week their rushing game proved better than their passing. This will be a big test for Arizona.

The Dolphins have struggled this past month using their 3rd or 4tf choice Quarterback but they finally have the good news that Tua Tagovailoa is fit and raring to go. With Buffalo away coming next week it makes this match a must win match to keep their season alive.

Confidence will be running high with the return of their QB. The whole team will improve and it will be like the season starts here. Their aim is a playoff berth and they can take a step towards that here.

2024 NFL Regular Season GW8 Tip: MIAMI DOLPHINS -3

NEW YORK JETS (2-5) @ NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS (1-6)

Vegas Line: NY Jets -7.5; Total Points 41.5

My Ratings: N.Y. Jets -4.5; Total Points 45.3

Every week the pundits say the Jets are a very good team but they just haven’t been getting the results. Sure, they were unlucky at home to Buffalo two weeks ago but the Pittsburgh Steelers comfortably beat them 37-15. Their running game has too many off days for me, just maybe the Jets aren’t as good as some think.

Six defeats in a row for New England and very little light at the end of the tunnel. Changing their QB may have helped a little but just 38 Rushing Yards last week shows you they are a long way off.

In Week Two of the Season the N.Y.Jets beat New England 24-3, a comfortable win for the Jets. That day New England Passed for 61 yards and Rushed for 78 yards. This is why the N.Y. Jets are over a touchdown favourite but I don’t trust them  to cover that spread.

2024 NFL Regular Season GW8 Tip: No Bet

ATLANTA FALCONS (4-3) @ TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS (4-3)

Vegas Line: Atlanta -2; Total Points 45.5

My Ratings: Tampa Bay -3; Total Points 51.5

I expected the Atlanta Falcons to beat Seattle last week but lost on some sloppy plays and they will need to address this. Atlanta will look back to Week 5 when they beat Tampa Bay 36-30 using a strong passing game for an amazing 477 yards. Although they will regret last week’s fumbles and picks, they will feel they have the beating of the Buccaneers.

The Tampa Bay Bucs didn’t play that bad against Baltimore in a high scoring match and proved to be a good side, just not as good as the Ravens. Normally Tampa Bay would be -3 for this match but unfortunately, they have lost two of their best wide receivers in Mike Evans and Chris Godwin, both of whom have good receiving numbers this season.

2024 NFL Regular Season GW8 Tip: No Bet

CHICAGO BEARS (4-2) @ WASHINGTON COMMANDERS (5-2)

Vegas Line: Chicago -2.5; Total Points 43.5

My Line: Washington -3; Total Points 46.8

Chicago come into this match having had a Bye Week and before that three straight wins. Unfortunately, they are in the NFC North with three heavyweights. The Bears have had some reasonably comfortable fixtures but this will be a tough test for them.

For me, Washington have been better than the Bears in recent weeks and have little problem scoring points. The big worry for Washington is QB Jayden Daniels is likely to miss the match. His understudy played most of last week’s match and came through it well but it was against Carolina and he won’t get the same luxuries this week. I would’ve tipped Washington had Daniels played but now it can go either way.

2024 NFL Regular Season GW8 Tip: No Bet

GREEN BAY PACKERS (5-2) @ JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS (2-5)

Vegas Line: Green Bay -4.5; Total Points 49.0

My Ratings: Green Bay -5; Total Points 48.1

Green Bay would’ve been very happy with the result against Houston Texans last week and they are proving a live playoff prospect. They have dealt with some tough match ups really well this season and are a cut above today’s opponents.

Jacksonville return after their two matches in London with mixed fortunes. Chicago beat them comfortably but the Jaguars were too good for the New England Patriots. It’s really hard to see the Jaguars in with much of a chance here, probably the fact that they lost at home to Cleveland comes to mind. The big question is will the Packers cover? My opinion says they will.

2024 NFL Regular Season GW8 Tip: GREEN BAY PACKERS -4.5

INDIANAPOLIS COLTS (4-3) @ HOUSTON TEXANS (5-2)

Vegas Line: Houston -4.5; Total Points 46.0

My Ratings: Houston -8.5; Total Points 45.5

The Indianapolis Colts hosted Houston Texans in Week One in a close encounter, with Houston winning 29-27. All of Indianapolis’ seven matches have been closely fought. The Colts’ yardage figures are 1-6 this season so they maybe punching a little above their weight.

Houston are a far better team than Indianapolis and I’m full of confidence they will win this Divisional match up easily. Houston were unlucky to lose last week against Green Bay and should wrap up a double against Divisional rivals here. I don’t foresee any problems in Houston not covering the line.

2024 NFL Regular Season GW8 Tip: HOUSTON TEXANS -4.5

NEW ORLEANS SAINTS (2-5) @ LOS ANGELES CHARGERS (3-3)

Vegas Line: LA Chargers -7.5; Total Points 40.5

My Ratings: LA Chargers -10; Total Points 42.1

New Orleans started the season with two big wins. Since then it has all gone terribly wrong and losing 33-10 to Denver last week illustrates their poor form. Backup QB Spencer Rattler has struggled along with the rest of the team. They have had a couple of extra days rest to get their house in order.

The LA Chargers aren’t the greatest of teams to take care of a 7.5 point deficit although through a Denver form line they should win by 30 points. However, unfortunately football isn’t that easy. I don’t really like either team much.

2024 NFL Regular Season GW8 Tip: No Bet

BUFFALO BILLS (5-2) @ SEATTLE SEAHAWKS (4-3)

Vegas Lines: Buffalo -3; Total Points 47.0

My Ratings: Buffalo -5.5; Total Points 48.0

The Buffalo Bills are coming off a short week. They comfortably beat Tennessee Titans to put them in the driving seat in the AFC East. This season their two losses came at Houston and Baltimore. That isn’t that bad and this team seems to be on the way up.

Seattle Seahawks will be very pleased with last week’s performance in Atlanta, earning a good win. The Bills will give Seattle a much sterner test and it would be a surprise to me if they won. It’s not impossible but very unlikely.

2024 NFL Regular Season GW8 Tip: No Bet

PHILADELPHIA EAGLES (4-2) @ CINCINNATI BENGALS (3-4)

Vegas Line: Cincinnati -2.5; Total Points 48.0

My Line: Cincinnati -1.5; Total Points 47.2

The Philadelphia Eagles got their game back on track last week with a comfortable win over New York Giants, 28-3. I’m still not convinced the Eagle has landed as their fixture list has worked out to be very soft.

Cincinnati have also played NY Giants and Cleveland in their last 2 matches. Cincinnati’s score was 38-21, Philadelphia 48-19, advantage Philadelphia. Cincinnati, like Philadelphia, have good days and bad days and that makes this match up too hard to call.

2024 NFL Regular Season GW8 Tip: No Bet

CAROLINA PANTHERS (1-6) @ DENVER BRONCOS (4-3)

Vegas Line: Denver -10; Total Points 42.5

My Line: Denver -13; Total Points 46.4

Not much good news around for the Carolina Panthers as they have 22 players on their injury list, including QB Andy Dalton, and they will have to recall Bryce Young. Young was underwhelming in the first two weeks of the season. Carolina lost last week 40-7 to Washington. The only positive is Denver’s highest points tally this season is 34, so hopefully they can keep the losing margin down a bit.

Denver are fairly injury free at the moment and they know this is a game they should, and must, win. Their next 2 matches are on the road vs the best two teams (Baltimore and Kansas City). Denver had a good win at New Orleans 33-10 last week. On paper this should be an easy win for the Broncos but -10 is a tough call for a low scoring team.

2024 NFL Regular Season GW8 Tip: No Bet

KANSAS CITY CHIEFS (6-0) @ LAS VEGAS RAIDERS (2-5)

Vegas Line: Kansas City -10; Total Points 41.0

My Ratings: Kansas City -11; Total Points 42.7

Kansas City kept their unbeaten record after beating fellow Superbowl finalists San Francisco by 10 points. Everyone is waiting for the Chiefs to be brought back down to earth but they just keep rolling on. Many times the Chiefs win ugly but they just carry on winning. This should be another easy win on paper but a double digit favourite on the road is usually a tough call.

Las Vegas have had to revert back to out of favour QB Gardner Minshew who had a good game in last week’s loss at the L.A. Rams. This was a promising result even though they lost and gives them hope after big defeats against Pittsburgh and Denver. Although Kansas are a class above the Raiders, I’m not sure they will cover the 10 point spread.

2024 NFL Regular Season GW8 Tip: No Bet

DALLAS COWBOYS (3-3) @ SAN FRANCISCO (3-4)

Vegas Line: San Francisco -4.5; Total Points 47.0

My Ratings: San Francisco -5; Total Points 46.0

The Dallas Cowboys are coming off a much needed Bye Week after being humiliated by the Detroit Lions 47-9. Strangely, the Cowboys are 3-0 on the road so they will be pleased with an away trip.

San Francisco have plenty of offensive injuries and it’s believed they will rush the ball more. Last week was another big blow, losing at home to the Kansas City Chiefs and they will be looking for a much needed win just to make the playoffs.

With both offenses struggling for different reasons, I’m going to take the UNDER total points in this match up.

2024 NFL Regular Season GW8 Tip: TOTAL POINTS – UNDER 47 POINTS
