2024 NFL Week 3 TNF Picks

Vegas Lines: New York Jets -6.5 points; Total Points 38

New England Patriots Results: W @ Cincinnati 16-10; L vs Seattle 20-23

New York Jets Results: L @ San Francisco 19-32; W vs Tennessee 24-17

I’ve got to be honest here, this looks like it’ll be a match for the purists. Neither team has looked particularly exciting so far and this could be an ugly encounter.

The Patriots’ plan will be to rush the ball and try to chew up as much time as possible when they have the football. It won’t be pretty but it will probably be effective. Aaron Rodgers is still finding his feet at the Jets and this is a game where defenses will likely come to the fore.

The oddsmakers expect a low scoring game, setting the total points line at just 38. I have to agree with that, but I don’t agree with the Patriots being made 6.5 point underdogs. They have an incredible head to head record vs the Jets, winning 22 of the previous 25 meetings. With a +6.5 point spread, that record would be 24-1. I am backing the Patriots +6.5 at odds of 1.91.
