2024 UK Open Friday Night Tips

Now, it is time for James Punt’s 2024 UK Open Friday Night Preview. We were out of luck in our opening preview but hopefully we can get back on track this evening. James has just two bets for tonight in Minehead, you can check them out below.

Martin Lukeman vs. Leonard Gates

Martin Lukeman looks to be underrated here. Gates does up his game on TV but Smash has been in Smashing form of late. He has hit six ton plus averages in his last ten matches and his seasonal average is nudging 97. He averaged 102 in his 6-5 win over Wattimena, who averaged 97.6.

Gates is the only Rileys qualifier to reach the fourth round. He beat Jim Williams 6-2 earlier, but Williams was off the boil, averaging just 85. This is a best of 19 leg match and that makes it tougher for Gates in my book.

Brendan Dolan to beat Dimitri van den Bergh

Van den Bergh continues to struggle for form, losing five of his last ten matches. His win rate in 2024 is 50%. He reached the semi-finals at The Masters but how exactly is a mystery as he averaged around 90 over his four matches.

Dolan has shown some good form on the floor in 2024, reaching two quarter finals. His scoring has also been decent, hitting four 102 averages in his last ten matches. Their H2H record is 5-2 to Dolan and he looks a touch of value to improve that further.
