2025 Austrian Darts Saturday Preview

James Punt landed another couple of winners this afternoon. Check out his 2025 Austrian Darts Open Saturday evening preview and tips below.

Damon Heta vs. Karel Sedlacek

Sedlacek had an easy job against Barney last night. He just had to take his turn and then watch Barney beat himself. It was a 6-2 win in first gear. Evil Charlie has won seven of his last ten matches and is playing with a fair amount of confidence and enjoying himself.

Despite winning PC13, I’m not sure Heta is having much fun, especially not in Europe. He has won just two matches and has played poorly.

Heta will be happy to be facing Sedlacek as he has beaten him in both their previous meetings and won them easily, 6-1 in 2023 and 6-2 just two weeks ago. That is the kind of opponent he needs right now, but he will still need to be up to the job.

Heta is the 1.54 favourite, Sedlacek 2.80. If it wasn’t for that H2H record I would be tempted by Sedlacek’s odds. I can’t back Heta at those odds given his Euro Tour form. No bet.

2025 Austrian Darts Open Saturday Tip: No bet

Peter Wright vs. Luke Woodhouse

Woodhouse won a very poor match vs Nathan Rafferty 6-5 last night. Both players averaged in the mid-80s. He has won six of his last eight matches but he is not at his best. There have been four averages of under 91 and only three or four good performances. He is a bit in and out right now.

Peter Wright is playing a little better than Woodhouse, but there isn’t much in it. Snakebite has won five of his last ten matches and reached a Players Championship final a couple of weeks ago. He gave Luke Littler a run for his money (again) in Munich on Monday and while there are still a few duff performances, Wright’s game is heading in the right direction.

Their H2H record is 3-1 to Wright, but Woodhouse won their most recent match which was back in 2023. Woodhouse has improved in the last year or so and Wright was doing his winning against Woodhouse back in his golden years.

Wright is the 1.72 favourite with Woodhouse 2.30. These two have only had one close match and with Wright playing with more confidence, perhaps he can win with something in hand.

Jonny Clayton vs. Jermaine Wattimena

The Ferret has won twelve of his last fourteen matches, but it was that 1-6 loss to Schindler last weekend which has me scratching my head. He was in immense form but averaged just 85.30 and got hammered. He has now lost his last three Euro Tour second round matches in a row. Is it in his head? All three defeats saw sub 90 averages. It is confusing.

Wattimena thrashed Zoran Lerchbacher 6-0 last night. I had hoped that the Austrian might have nicked a couple of legs but I could have beaten him. He was that bad. Wattimena at least stuck to his task and didn’t get dragged down too much.

The Dutchman has won seven of his last ten matches but he has played a few players who are well past their best, such as Lerchbacher, Unterbuchner, King and Labanauskas. He has lost to Heta, Ross Smith and Chris Dobey. Wattimena is facing another ‘proper’ player here.

Their H2H record is very close, 8-7 to Clayton. However Clayton has won their last five in a row, the last four going over 9.5 legs.

2025 Austrian Darts Open Saturday Tip: 1 point over 9.5 legs @ 1.91 generally available

Nathan Aspinall vs. Kevin Doets

Aspinall managed a 104 average when losing 3-6 to Luke Humphries on Thursday night. So can we say that he isn’t really injured? Or is he always injured, but it doesn’t matter? Or will it be an issue after a couple of matches? He only played nine legs on Thursday so we didn’t see him fully tested. I do not like betting on matches where a player is injured or has an injury question mark over their head.

Doets put in one of his better performances when beating Berry van Peer 6-3 last night. It was a touch under a 96 average and he has won six of his last ten matches. He is playing OK, but no more than that.

Their H2H record is 4-1 to Doets and he has won their last four in a row, and by a bigger margin of victory every time. The last was a 6-1 in the World Series back in January. They have played some very good matches, and a couple of not so good ones, but clearly Doets likes playing Aspinall.

2025 Austrian Darts Open Saturday Tip: 1 point Kevin Doets to win @ 2.88 with SpreadEx

Chris Dobey vs. Ricardo Pietreczko

Ricardo got the job done yesterday and landed the two point bet, beating Tom Bissell 6-3. Bissell started the match well, but his lack of experience showed as he fell off the pace very quickly. It wasn’t a great performance from Pietreczko and he will have to do better here.

Chris Dobey has won seven of his last ten matches and hit five consecutive ton plus averages. The one thing he hasn’t done yet is to win a Euro Tour match in 2025. But he should win this one.

Their H2H record is 1-1, both ending 6-4. I suspect this one will not be so close.

2025 Austrian Darts Open Saturday Tip: 1 point Chris Dobey to win -1.5 legs @ 1.73 with Betfred

Stephen Bunting vs. Matt Campbell

The Ginga Ninja picked up some welcome ranking money by beating Patrick Geeraets 6-5 in a real grind of a match. It was not pretty. It was his fifth sub 90 average in in his last ten matches and he has won five of them.

Bunting has won seven of his last ten and while he will have been disappointed to lose in Liverpool on Thursday night, I doubt it will have put him out of his stride. He has been playing very well for a month or so and Thursday’s match was just a case of wanting something too much.

Their H2H record is 2-1 to Bunting and all three have been close with a 6-4 and two 6-5s. Bunting has played well in those matches, but he seems to bring something out in Campbell, who can play good stuff when he is in the mood.

One paper it looks like this should be a walk in the park for Bunting, he is better in just about every measurable metric, but he has found Campbell to be a tricky opponent.

You can get 2.25 on over 9.5 legs. I was hoping for better. No bet.

2025 Austrian Darts Open Saturday Tip: No Bet

Martin Schindler vs. Matthew Dennant

Dennant finally got his long overdue Euro Tour win when beating Rowby-John Rodriguez 6-2. It was a poor match. He has won seven of his last ten matches, half seeing sub 90 averages. He has got a decent A game, and maybe he can show it now that the Euro Tour monkey is off his back.

We have Schindler outright so hopefully he can get off to as strong a start as Ross Smith, Ryan Joyce and Josh Rock have. Schindler has won seven of his last ten matches and is very much at home on the Euro Tour. He has won nine of his thirteen Euro Tour matches on the Euro Tour in 2025, reaching at least the third round every time. And he is seeded this weekend.

Despite both having had tour cards for years and years, they have only met once, with Dennant winning 6-3 back in 2020.

Schindler is the 1.36 favourite, Dennant 3.50. It is a no bet match for me.

2025 Austrian Darts Open Saturday Tip: No Bet

Dave Chisnall vs. Ian White

Ian White played some nice stuff in his 6-5 win over Madars Razma. It was a proper game of darts and White held his nerve, having let slip a 5-2 lead. He was excellent on the doubles hitting six from seven. White has won six of his last ten matches and is in decent form.

Chizzy has lost five of his last ten matches and while he is playing some good darts, there is no consistency. Five 95+ averages, four sub 92s. He has won his opening match in all four Euro Tour events so far in 2025 and he has averaged 97 in his last three second round matches.

Their H2H record is 12-9, but they have only played once in the last three years and that was a 6-3 win for White last year. Chisnall is the 1.91 favourite, White 2.00.

It is a tough match to call. Both players are inconsistent. One is feeling much more confident about his game, the other isn’t but is still very strong in his opening Euro Tour matches. It really could be anything. No bet.
