2025 Belgian Darts Open Sunday Preview

It was looking like another bleak night on Saturday but Big Boris Krcmar saved the day at 4.25. We ended up with three winners on the night so in the end, it wasn’t too bad at all. James Punt is hoping to finish this event with a flourish, check out his 2025 Belgian Darts Open Sunday preview below.

Saturday Reflections

Yesterday saw no less than nine of the top 16 seeded players beaten, including our only outright selection for the title, Luke Humphries. It has been a very frustrating tournament betting wise with a lot of near misses, but at least last night’s session returned a profit, thanks to Boris Krcmar beating the out of form MVG at fancy odds. Hopefully today a few more of the selections can hit the doubles.

Mike de Decker vs. Martin Schindler

De Decker took advantage of an out of sorts Luke Humphries last night, winning 6-4 and averaging 100.45. Martin Schindler was the easy 6-3 winner over Dimitri van den Bergh and he now faces the sole remaining Belgian in the tournament.

Their H2H record is 3-3 and it was De Decker who won both their matches in 2024, 6-3 and 6-2, both on the Euro Tour. Will the home factor be a help or a hindrance for De Decker? He is carrying the hopes of the home crowd, Schindler is no mug and a two time Euro Tour winner and he ended last year on top of the European Championship OOM.

De Decker is the 1.79 favourite, Schindler 2.20.

Damon Heta vs. Gerwyn Price

Heta got a free pass into the third round. Michael Smith just didn’t turn up. He was averaging in the 70s right up to the last leg when he got a 180, but still lost to go down 6-0, and of course after I had given him the big up.

Gerwyn Price was going to be an outright pick, but his really poor doubling display on Thursday night was off putting. Yesterday he smashed Gian van Veen 6-2 and averaged 112.42. Van Veen played well, but just didn’t get a look in. Price likes to, and usually does, win one the early Euro Tour events.

Rather than back him to win this, I’ll back him e/w for the title. The top half of the draw has opened up with the exit of Humphries, and Price looks well placed to take advantage. He has also beaten Luke Littler five times in a row and he may well be able to make it six if they were to meet in the final.

Ross Smith vs. vs. Matt Campbell

Campbell has only ever reached the third round once before in Europe and he lost that 3-6 to Dirk van Duijvenbode in 2023. He has played some good stuff so far but this could be tough for him.

Ross Smith caught fire against Rob Cross, averaging 112.60 and winning 6-2. He is not going to repeat that but he has been playing well and when the 180s go in, he is hard to beat. Smith was a two time runner up last year and is the more accomplished player. He leads Campbell 2-1 and this will be their first match on stage.

Stephen Bunting vs. Daryl Gurney

Bunting was 0-3 yesterday and we were looking good with our bet on Wattimena, but that was never going to happen and Bunting rattled off six straight legs as Wattimena was more like the ‘old’ version and folded like a cheap suit. Bunting needed the win as the whole PL thing his playing on his mind.

Superchin was well short of the form he showed in the first round, but a 6-2 win over Danny Noppert is always a good result. Gurney has won five of his last ten matches and had been playing poorly. Reverting to his old darts seems to have helped after he had been experimenting with new points.

Their H2H record is 13-5 to Bunting and he has won eight of their last ten, and their last five in a row. Gurney has only got past the third round five time in his last thirty three Euro Tour events.

Bunting is the 1.53 favourite but his confidence is not high at the moment and I am happy to pass on him at such short odds, but their H2H record does suggest that he is the likely winner. No bet.

2025 Belgian Darts Open Sunday Tip: No bet

Luke Littler vs. Luke Woodhouse

Littler is the 1.14 favourite to win this. He beat Ryan Searle 6-3 last night but he wasn’t good, and Searle had a chances to win almost every leg, but his doubling was rubbish and his checkout rate was just 25%. It was another very frustrating losing bet.

I suspect Littler was probably a bit jaded after a very busy week. It is no coincidence that five of the PL players lost yesterday. A good night’s sleep might do the trick.

Woodhouse was brilliant on the doubles when beating Gary Anderson 6-2. What Ryan Searle would have given for that sort of game. Woodhouse checked out at 55% but it was higher than that until the last leg when he missed a few trying to get over the line. It was a 100 average but his game has been very inconsistent lately and his doubling has been a weakness, so yesterday’s performance was a surprise.

Their H2H record extends to just one match on the floor and that was a 6-3 win for Littler. It is hard to find any value bets in these sort of matches, unless you think that Littler can be beaten, and even though he was way off his best last night, he usually bounces back quickly. No bet.

2025 Belgian Darts Open Sunday Tip: No bet

Chisnall vs. Edhouse

The Edhouse revival continues at pace. From failing to hit a 90+ average in 2025, here he is in the third round having come through two close matches. He is still not the player he was at times on the Euro Tour last year, but he will be feeling a lot better.

Chizzy was poor against Pietreczko yesterday, but Pikachu was dreadful. Chisnall is still struggling for form and he can be opposed here, despite a 12-5 H2H record.

Boris Krcmar vs. James Wade

Big Boris took care of MVG last night and with wins over Rock in round 1 and MVG in round two, James Wade should be easy? Of course not. Wade is in good form and confident, but he didn’t play well in his 6-4 win over Barney last night. It was his second 88 average in a row, and it is likely that he will have to do better. And of course, there is no way he is going to try and lick Big Boris’s face, he couldn’t reach even if he tried.

Krcmar has reached a Euro Tour quarter final before and he seems in good form and enjoying his run, and why not. Wade is 6-1 vs. Krcmar, but so was MVG.

Wade is the 1.54 favourite with Krcmar 2.70. They have played five best of eleven leg matches and four were over 9.5. Another close match would be no surprise.

2025 Belgian Darts Open Sunday Tip: 1 point over 9.5 legs @ 2.10 with Belfair, Betvictor

Jonny Clayton vs. Dirk van Duijvenbode

The Van Duijvenbode vs. Dobey match had last leg decider written all over it from the first leg. Two players with very little confidence, but one of them had to win and it was Dirk this time.

Clayton wasn’t great against Nijman, but he beat the better player and he is getting that winning habit back in his armoury.

I am not convinced by Van Duijvenbode’s form. He looks a bag of nerves to me and Clayton can take advantage of that.
