2025 Czech Darts Open Outright Betting Preview

James Punt managed to fire in a few winners at the Flanders Darts Trophy last weekend, hopefully there’s more Euro Tour success to come over the next few days. His 2025 Czech Darts Open outright betting preview is below.

2025 Czech Darts Open

This will be the fifth staging of the Czech Darts Open, and it has a history of seeing some good runs from big priced outsiders. The first one was in 2019 when Jamie ‘Yozzer’ Hughes beat Stephen Bunting in the final. Both players were unseeded. 2022 saw Luke Humphries beating Rob Cross.

In 2023 the seeded players again provided the finalists with Peter Wright beating Dave Chisnall. Last year saw Kim Huybrechts losing to Luke Humphries in the final after the Belgian came off the reserve list at short notice. Maybe there is something in the Czech Lager?

This year’s entry list includes the likes of two time winner and defending champion Luke Humphries and last weekend’s winner, Luke Littler. Regular withdrawers, Gary Anderson and Gerwen Price have their names in the hat but will they turn up? Indeed, will Humphries, who has missed two of the last three Euro Tour events.

The 2025 Czech Darts Open Seeds

1 Luke Humphries

Has been missing a lot of events, but he is the defending champion, and two-time winner, so he should want to play. Humphries has had a couple of weeks off since the World Series events down under. That means he has played six (exhibition) matches in the last six weeks and won four. He has only played sixteen matches since the Premier league final at the end of May. That is a very light schedule. Will he be match fit?

2 Luke Littler

Beat Josh Rock in the deciding leg in last weekend’s final and Littler has now won his last four stage events in a row; The Matchplay, two World Series events and the Flanders Darts Trophy. Need we look any further for the winner?

3 Michael van Gerwen

Turned up for last weekend’s Flanders Darts Open and lost easily to Gian van Veen 3-6 with a sub 90 average. His seasonal win rate is down to 51% and it is hard to make any sort of case for the once Mighty Mike.

4 Stephen Bunting

Will have enjoyed having a few days off this week. He went out at the third-round stage last weekend but still averaged 103.80 in a 5-6 loss to Josh Rock. Maybe fatigue just took the edge off his game. A return to a stage where he was a beaten finalist, back in the days when Bunting just didn’t win things, might focus his mind on getting this one over the line.

He remains the second-best player in the world on recent form. His Euro Tour form is mixed. He won the International Darts Open at the start of April and had two other quarter finals, but in his other five he has lost two second round matches and a third round.

5 James Wade

His run of good form continued with a semi-final last week. He lost 5-7 to Josh Rock. He played well in that match but didn’t have to get out of bed in his first three matches. That is back-to-back Euro Tour semi-finals, but can he really win his first Euro Tour title since 2016?

6 Chris Dobey

Suffered his sixth second round knockout of the Euro Tour season last weekend. Dobey has only ever made one final appearance (2019) and he has lost five of his last ten matches overall. Dobey reached the semi-final of ET9, but will he ever win one of these titles? Maybe there are just too many better players.

7 Gerwyn Price

Was a late withdrawal last weekend. He had a hand infection which didn’t clear up in time for him to take part. That will have stopped him doing any practice for a while. Price had won the Baltic Sea Darts Open before that withdrawal. Could go well, if fit, but having to put the darts away while his hand recovered isn’t ideal preparation.

8 Rob Cross

The 2022 runner up is in decent form, winning seven of his last ten matches, but he has yet to get beyond the third round on the Euro Tour in 2025.

9 Damon Heta

Reached his third Euro Tour quarter final of 2025 last weekend and he gave Luke Littler a good game, going down 5-6. Heta has only won five of his last ten matches, but my guess is that he was off the boil after the World Series events and last week’s little run will have sharpened his game. Hard to see him winning, but he can win a few matches.

10 Jonny Clayton

Lost his second-round match last weekend, ending a run of W/SF/QF on the Euro Tour. Maybe he didn’t like the pace of Super Mario, but he just looked a bit flustered in a 3-6 defeat. He has been having plenty of good runs on the stage and on the floor, and has a 2025 win rate of 70%. A good run is possible.

11 Dave Chisnall

Chizzy’s Euro Tour season continues to stagnate. He was a quarter finalist in ET1, then lost four third round matches on the spin, and has now lost his last five second round matches in a row. It is not going much better on the floor, and he struggles against the better players.

12 Ross Smith

His dry spell on the Euro Tour continues. Since losing the final of the Austrian Darts Open, he has played in five Euro Tours and failed to get to the final day, winning just four of his eight matches. Overall, he has lost five of his last ten matches and just one of his last five.

13 Peter Wright

Did reach three quarter finals earlier in the season but has won just one match in the last three Euro Tour events. Overall, he has lost seven of his last ten matches. His 1-6 defeat to Luke Woodhouse last week saw him average just 74.62, just as I had said that he had got the really bad stuff out of his game.

14 Josh Rock

Showed a lot of fight last weekend to reach the final and then took Littler to a deciding leg. Rock Beat Sedlacek 6-5, Bunting 6-5, Woodhouse 6-4 and Wade 7-5 before that gruelling final. Maybe he ran out of steam a little in that match, but he should take some confidence away from it. Playing well and playing consistently. Along with Littler and Bunting, he is in the top three players on recent form.

15 Danny Noppert

It was all very Danny Noppert to lose last weekend’s quarter final 0-6 to Daryl Gurney. Noppert has now lost eleven of his last twelve Euro Tour quarter finals. It was another £6000 banked and that is what he does, but I can’t consider him as a potential tournament finalist.

16 Martin Schindler

Has won seven of his last ten matches, but he did not play well last weekend and went out in the third round having been promoted to seeded status. He has to be respected on the Euro Tour, but maybe he needs a bit of home advantage to really fire him up again.

Best of the Rest

Gian van Veen

Had his second best run on the Euro Tour last weekend, reaching the quarter final, but that is what a player of his ability should be doing. He got the MVG monkey off his back in round two, beat Schindler in round three, but was hopeless when losing to James Wade in the quarter final. As I said last week, Van Veen is winning plenty of matches, but has not been at his best recently.

Wessel Nijman

Lost 5-6 to Sedláček in the first round last weekend but did average 100.29 and he has won eight of his last ten matches. He has reached two Euro Tour semi-finals in 2025 and he is perfectly capable of having a good run.

Daryl Gurney

Had a season best run to the semi-final last weekend, before losing 1-7 to Littler. Superchin has reached one Euro Tour semi-final now for the last four years in a row. He needs to do it more often than that if he is to make any great move up the rankings. At least it was four matches won in a row, which is a start.

Luke Woodhouse

Hit three ton plus averages last weekend and reached another Euro Tour quarter final. A player to back in matches rather than outright.

Krzysztof Ratajski

Playing with a decent level of consistency, winning seven of his last ten matches. Won’t win it, but he can win a few matches.

William O’Connor

Has won eight of his last ten matches overall and has played some good stuff. He reached a quarter final at the Dutch Darts Championship but lost his other four first round matches. O’Connor is a player who can’t make the most of his talent but is playing well enough to win a match or two, if he just doesn’t throw the towel in after a bad throw.

The 2025 Czech Darts Open Draw

The draw has been made before the local qualifier has ended, but the only player to come through that and be feared, is Karel Sedláček. As of 1.00pm on Thursday afternoon, the only withdrawal is, surprise, surprise ….Gary Anderson.

Madars Razma gets called up from the reserve list and Martin Schindler is elevated to seeded status. Hopefully that will be the only withdrawal, otherwise this preview needs a rewrite. (Thankfully it was!)

First Quarter

Luke Humphries is the top seed and defending champion. He has drawn a tough quarter. The other seeds are Heta, Schindler, and Cross. No easy players there. Of the unseeded players, we have the likes of Dirk van Duijvenbode (who faces the handy Cor Dekker with the winner playing Humphries), Ratajski, Razma, Nijman and RVB.

With Humphries having not played much recently, he is no stick on to make the semi-final. He has not made a final all season and his outright odds of 7.50 are only fair.

Of more interest is Wessel Nijman. The young dutchman is playing well and has reached two semi-finals on the Euro Tour in 2025. He faces Richard Veenstra in the first round and if he wins that, Damon Heta in the second, and he is 3-2 with Heta (2-0 on the Euro Tour).

Second Quarter

This looks more open, but Stephen Bunting has to be the favourite to make the semi-final. He is the top seed, joined by Wright, Wade and Ross Smith. I would discount Wright and Smith.

First round entrants include last weekend’s semi-finalist, Daryl Gurney, who should face Bunting in round two. Bunting has won their last five meetings. Nathan Aspinall returns to action after a long break. He has won two titles already and if he is not too rusty, he could be dangerous.

James Wade should face Aspinall in round two and I would give Wade the nod as he is match fit and in-form. For me, this is between Bunting and Wade. They have not played since 2023! But, I have to side with Bunting for this quarter.

Third Quarter

The bottom half of the draw is very likely to be Littler Land, never mind the third quarter. In this quarter Littler’s dangerman may be Gian van Veen. The Dutchman has beaten Littler in their last two meetings, including a semi-final on the Euro Tour. That was in the German Darts Grand Prix and that was the match that ended Littler’s participation in any further German tournaments.

Gerwyn Price is in the quarter and if he is fit and has been able to prepare well, he is a threat, as is Jonny Clayton. It is not a done deal that Littler comes through, he can’t and doesn’t win everything, but he is a strong favourite to do so.

Fourth Quarter

MVG is the top seed in name only. The likely lads to come through this are Josh Rock …and errr….that’s it. Dobey doesn’t do it on the Euro Tour. Chizzy is out of form. Of the first-round entrants, the likes of De Decker, Wattimena and Searle are just not doing it right now. Josh Rock could be on for another clash with Littler in the semi-final.
