2025 Czech Darts Open R2 Preview
James Punt was mightily unlucky not to have a full house on Friday night but two outta three ain’t bad. His 2025 Czech Darts Open R2 preview is below.
Ross Smith vs. Andrew Gilding
Smith has won six of his last ten matches and is playing decent, steady darts but a bit short of his best. He has won eight of his ten second round matches on the Euro Tour in 20225, but lost out to Daryl Gurney last weekend
Gilding played well to beat Labanauskas 6-5 yesterday, averaging 98.78. Goldfinger has been in poor form and has lost seven of his last ten matches, so yesterday’s performance was a surprise. Labanauskas only averaged 90.84 against Gilding yesterday and I suspect Smith will be a harder opponent.
Their H2H record is 5-2 to Smith, although Gilding won their only match this year. That ended a run of thrashings for Gilding who had lost his previous three matches to Smith 0-6, 0-6 and 1-10. Smith has won both of their stage matches. Smith is the 1.57 favourite, Gilding 2.38. I’ll take Smith on the handicap.
2025 Czech Darts Open R2 Tip: 1 point Ross Smith to win -1.5 legs @ 1.95 with Betfred
Martin Schindler vs. Madars Razma
Razzmatazz made harder work of beating the local qualifier yesterday than he should have. He has won six of his last ten matches but he is not playing well, struggling with his scoring.
Schindler has won seven of his last ten matches and has been playing some good stuff. He was poor last weekend, it must be said, averaging 91.5 across his two matches. Before that he reached the semi-final of PC25 and hit a lot of big numbers.
Schindler is the better player and a Euro Tour specialist. Razma is not having a good season and struggling to average above 90.
Their H2H record is 7-3 to Schindler, but they have not met since 2022, which is a surprise. I would say that Schindler is a better player these days.
Schindler is the 1.49 favourite, Razma 3.00. I’ll go for another handicap bet.
2025 Czech Darts Open R2 Tip: 1 point Martin Schindler to win -1.5 legs @ 1.73 with Hills, Ladbrokes
Damon Heta vs. Wessel Nijman
Our outsider pick for the tournament, Wessel Nijman, got off to an underwhelming start yesterday, falling over the line in a 6-5 win over Richard Veenstar. He was good at times, but his game was very inconsistent. Nijman has won eight of his last ten matches and his weakness is having those weak matches about once in every five. Hopefully he has got his bad one out of the way.
Heta has lost five of his last ten matches, but he still made the quarter final last weekend and took Littler to a deciding leg. He has won six of his ten second round matches on the Euro Tour in 2025.
Their H2H record is 3-2 to Nijman and he won their only match this year 6-3 in ET9 in July. Nijman has won both of their Euro Tour matches.
Damon Heta is the 1.91 favourite, Nijman 2.00. After yesterday’s limp performance I am not going to put any more eggs in the Nijman basket, but hopefully he gets the job done. No bet.
2025 Czech Darts Open R2 Tip: No Bet
Chris Dobey vs. Jermaine Wattimena
Wattimena made hard work of beating Brendan Dolan 6-4. Both averaged below 90. Wattimena has not impressed since winning his first PDC title and he may be suffering from a bit of mental let down.
Dobey, a real Euro Tour underachiever, is never good value in these matches. He has lost five of his last ten. On the Euro Tour, Dobey has played nine second round matches and has won just three. He usually scores well but just finds winning hard. The story of his career.
Their H2H record is 5-3 to Wattimena but in 2025 it is 2-1 to Dobey. On the Euro Tour it is 2-0 to Wattimena, including a 6-4 win in ET2 this year.
Dobey is the 1.73 favourite, Wattimena 2.20. My head is saying that Wattimena is the call, but he just has been so flat recently that I can’t back him. No bet.
2025 Czech Darts Open R2 Tip: No bet
Danny Noppert vs. Gian van Veen
Van Veen was at his best in a 6-3 win over Maik Kuivenhoven last night. He averaged 103.70 and Kuivenhoven 99.65, so Van Veen had plenty coming back but he did not deviate. Van Veen has won seven of his last ten matches but last night was the first time we have seen his A-game for a couple of weeks. If he can keep it going, he can have a good run.
Noppert usually does his losing at the quarter final stage, as he did last weekend. He has won seven of his last ten matches but has lost five of his second round matches on the Euro Tour. He lost his first four in a row at the start of the season, so he has got over that mental block.
Their H2H record is 4-4 and 2-1 to Van Veen on the Euro Tour. Two of those matches were over 9.5 legs and this has the look of another fairly close one.
2025 Czech Darts Open R2 Tip: 1 point over 9.5 legs @ 2.00 with Betvictor
Dave Chisnall vs. Ryan Searle
Heavy Metal averaged just 85.61 against a local qualifier last night, but it was all he needed to do, winning 6-2. He has not been in good form, losing five of his last ten matches, and he has lost half of his Euro Tour second round matches. He has only won back to back matches once on this year’s Euro Tour.
Dave Chisnall has also lost five of his last ten matches, has lost his last five second round Euro Tour matches in a row and won just six matches all season.
Neither player inspires any confidence. It could be a real grind and of the last six best of eleven leg matches, all of them were over 9.5 legs.
2025 Czech Darts Open R2 Tip: 1 point over 9.5 legs @ 1.93 with Betvictor
Peter Wright vs. Benjamin Pratnemer
Snakebite was dire this time last week, averaging 74.62 in a 1-6 loss to Luke Woodhouse. Wright has lost seven of his last ten matches, but he is the 1.53 favourite to win this.
Pratnemer beat Ricardo Pietreczko 6-5 yesterday. Pikachu was in the same poor form boat as Wright and Pratnemer was just about good enough to win. It was only an 85.72 average but that might be enough to compete if Wright plays as badly as he has in his last couple of matches.
Pratnemer is just 2.80 to win and I would want a bit better than that before backing him. No bet.
2025 Czech Darts Open R2 Tip: No Bet
Jonny Clayton vs. Ryan Joyce
Joyce only averaged 85.89 in a 6-3 win over a disappointing Karel Sedlacek yesterday. It was a poor match. Joyce has won six of his last ten matches but he is on a run of four sub 90 averages, which is a worry.
Jonny Clayton has been in good form in recent months which made his 3-6 loss to Mario Vandenbogaerde last weekend all the more surprising. He had been runner up to Bunting in PC25 before that and a semi-finalist at the World Matchplay. I will forgive him a slip.
He won ET7 at the end of May and followed that up with a semi-final in ET8 and quarter final in ET9. On the negative side, he has lost six second round matches, so he hasn’t always come out of the blocks fast.
Their H2H record is 3-2 to Clayton. Joyce has won the last two, but Clayton is 2-0 on stage.
Clayton is the 1.42 favourite, Joyce 3.25. I’ll back Clayton on the handicap.
