2025 Dutch Darts Championship Saturday Tips

It was a tough start for James Punt this afternoon but he finished strongly. You can check out his 2025 Dutch Darts Championship Saturday preview and tips below.

MVG Out

Only seven matches tonight as MVG has withdrawn for this event, and from darts for the foreseeable future, after announcing that he is splitting up from his wife of eleven years.  Mickey Mansell gets a bye into the third round.

James Wade vs. Dirk van Duijvenbode

We are on Dirk outright and he played well last night, averaging 102 in a 6-0 win. That will have settled him into the tournament nicely.

James Wade has won five of his last ten matches and has not been playing with much consistency. He has played ten matches on the Euro Tour and won five, but he has lost five of his last seven, including a 5-6 loss the Dirk in ET6. He hasn’t played well on the whole, with seven sub 91 averages. Against a heavy hitter like Dirk, that may not be enough.

Wade is an old pro and will try all the tricks, like keeping the pace slow as Dirk likes to play at a brisk pace. Their H2H record is 7-4 to Dirk and he has won their last two, both 6-5.

It seems that Wade has become adept at taking the sting out of Dirk. In their last five matches, Van Duijvenbode has only averaged above 95 once and that was a 95.06. Wade has kept him in the 93-94 range and that might just be because of the pace of play.

Van Duijvenbode is the 1.57 favourite, Wade 2.63. Four of their last five best of eleven leg matches have been over 9.5 legs.

William O’Connor vs. Boris Krcmar

The Bank of Boris was paid out again last night and today he is picking up a dividend by facing William O’Connor, rather than Gerwyn Price, who withdrew after the draw had been made, so O’Connor jumps straight into the second round.

It was a 100 average for Boris last night and while Van Veen wasn’t at his best, it was another robust challenge by Krčmar. He has now played six Euro Tour matches in 2025 and won four, beating MVG, Josh Rock, Dirk van Duijvenbode and now Gian van Veen.

O’Connor has played two matches on the Euro Tour in 2025 and lost both, averaging 92 and 89. Overall, he has won six of his last ten matches and while there is the odd good performance, most of his averages are low 90s.

Their H2H record is 1-1 with O’Connor’s win coming in 2012. Their last match was a 6-4 win for Boris in 2022.

Krčmar is the 2.06 outsider, O’Connor 1.85. There is only one choice.

Luke Humphries vs. Cameron Menzies

Menzies won an enjoyable match against Wesley Plaisier 6-5 last night. Four 180’s and 55% on the doubles and it was a tidy performance, if not his best. He has won six of his last ten matches but he not been at his peak and he has been inconsistent.

Luke Humphries is the only PL finalist to have travelled to Rosmalen this weekend. I am a little surprised that he has done so. He has won six of his last ten matches but, perhaps more importantly, he has won six of his ten matches on the Euro Tour, half of them with a ton plus average. He has only lost one of his four second round matches.

These two have met five times and Luke leads 3-2. He won their only Euro Tour match 6-4 and four of their five matches have been over 9.5 legs. At 2.25, another overs match is tempting, but Menzies’ form has been so inconsistent that it is hard to have much confidence in him putting up a good fight.

The one market which does make some appeal is the total 180s. Their last three have produced a total of 21 maximums in 31 legs. Menzies hit four last night and over 5.5 looks a reasonable call.

2025 Dutch Darts Championship Saturday Tip: 1 point over 5.50 180s @ 1.80 with Betfair, Betvictor

Josh Rock vs. Ricardo Pietreczko

Pikachu beat Sedlacek 6-1 in the opening match yesterday. He has had to wait until last match on day two to go again. He played well, averaging 96.14 and he may need something similar if he is to compete tonight. Pietreczko has met Rock once, last month and it was a 6-1 win for the Northern Irishman. On the Euro Tour this year, Ricardo has lost all five of his second round matches.

Rock is defending champion and has made the semi-final of two of the last three Euro Tours. With many of the big guns missing this weekend, he might be fancying his chances of doubling up. He has won six of his last ten matches and while he does have a few too many duff performances, he has been playing a lot of very good darts recently.

Rock is the 1.36 favourite, Pietreczko 3.45.

2025 Dutch Darts Championship Saturday Tip: 1 point Josh Rock to win -2.5 legs @ 2.20 with Ladbrokes
2025 Dutch Darts Championship Saturday Tip: 0.5 point Josh Rock to win 6-2 @ 6.40 with Livescorebet

That may be that for this weekend. The F1 money pit will have my attention until after the start of Round three tomorrow, so there will be no time to cover it.
