2025 European Darts GP R2 Preview
James Punt was a missed Gabriel Clemens attempt at double tops away from a clean sweep on Friday night. Can he land a full house today? Check out his 2025 European Darts GP R2 betting preview below.
R1 Reflections
Yesterday’s Euro Tour darts saw some of the worst doubling that I have ever seen. Match after match of missed chances. We lost money when Engstrom missed ten doubles to win his fourth leg and land our overs bet. Gabriel Clemens missed a double to land our 7.00 bet on him to win 6-5.
Still, we had a few winners to keep things ticking over, but Ryan Joyce went out in round 1, so no big pay day this weekend. The big guns join in today and it will interesting to see if the disastrous doubling caries through.
Danny Noppert vs. Wessel Nijman
Neither player has impressed me lately. Noppert broke his Euro Tour drought by winning his second round match last week, but he went out in the next round. He has won six of his last ten matches, but on the Euro Tour, he has lost eight of his last ten. He is not at his best, but his B game is one of the best in the game.
Nijman is all about power scoring and we are not seeing too much of that from him. He has won six of his last ten matches, but it was another sub 90 average for him yesterday, thanks to twenty missed doubles.
Their H2H record is 2-2, they are 1-1 in Europe and as the market suggests, this is a toss-up. Nijman is 1.91, Noppert 1.98. No bet.
2025 European Darts GP R2 Tip: No Bet
Damon Heta vs. Martin Lukeman
Smash was OK when beating Benjamin Pratnemer 6-3 in the opening match yesterday. He has won seven of his last ten matches but he is far from his best. At least he is on early before the conditions get too hot.
Heta made the quarter final last weekend but his Euro Tour form in 2025 is nothing to write home about. He has won seven of his last ten matches and he will be delighted that Ryan Joyce is out as two his last three defeats were to him.
Their H2H record is 8-2 to Heta and he has won their last six. Lukeman is 2-1 on the Euro Tour and his last win over Heta was in a Euro Tour semi-final in 2022, the month after he had beaten him in another Euro Tour.
Heta is the 1.54 favourite, Lukeman 2.75. All three of their Euro Tour matches were close affairs and maybe this one will be as well, but it must be said that Heta hasn’t had much trouble with Lukeman in their last four matches.

Michael Smith vs. Daniel Klose
Klose gave the home fans something to cheer about when he beat Wattimena 6-3. Wattimena was 17% on his doubles and the match was gift wrapped for Klose, who played well enough. It was just the second time he won a first round match on the Euro Tour.
The last time he did was in the Austrian Darts Open last year. That was a strange one has he had got a bye into the second round due to a late withdrawal, so he has never won back to back on the Euro Tour.
Michael Smith declined to play last week and given that he is only 37th on the European Championship OOM, it was a bold decision. Either that or he wasn’t fit enough. Smith is up there with Aspinall in terms of injuries and these days you can never be sure what state he will be in.
Smith has won seven of his last ten matches but has won just two matches in Europe this year. There is no consistency to his game and he is not a player to be backing right now. Is he opposable with Klose? No.
Smith is the 1.33 favourite, Klose 3.50. No bet.
2025 European Darts GP R2 Tip: No Bet
Gary Anderson vs. Gian van Veen
Anderson is the 1.91 favourite, Van Veen 2.00
Anderson is the defending champion, which may explain why he has turned up. He does need to bank more Euro Tour prizemoney if he wants to play in the European Championship, but we know he hates travelling and he would rather go deep and then not have to play in any more of these events.
It is very hard to say what kind of form Anderson is in as he hasn’t played for a month. He is semi-retired and professes to not practicing.
Van Veen is one of the best players on tour and improving. He didn’t need to get out of first gear to beat Nathan Rafferty 6-3 yesterday, he has won seven of his last ten matches and his seasonal average is 98.84.
Their H2H record is 3-0 to Anderson but they had a very close quarter final match in last year’s Grand Slam, Anderson winning that 16-14, and one their other two matches on the floor required a deciding leg. Van Veen says that Anderson is one of his darting heroes which I don’t like. Too much respect can be shown.
Van Veen has now been runner up in two Euro Tours and he is beginning to grow in confidence, knowing that he does belong at the top level. Beating Anderson would be a milestone for him.
Because we don’t know what kind of form Anderson is in, I will have to pass on the is one. No bet.
2025 European Darts GP R2 Tip: No Bet
Chris Dobey vs. Luke Woodhouse
It was a bit of a struggle for Woodhouse in his 6-3 win over Engstrom yesterday. The Swede was the better player, but he was afflicted with the missing doubles virus. He missed twenty overall and while he was averaging over a ton for most of the match, he could not take his many chances. It was very annoying. Woodhouse has won five of his last ten matches but he isn’t playing well and has now hit four consecutive sub 90 averages.
Dobey has won six of his last ten matches, hitting seven ton plus averages, but was dire on Thursday in his 3-6 loss to Aspinall. Dobey reached the quarter final last weekend, a rare win on the Euro Tour for Hollywood. There is no denying his talent, but it is a talent wasted much of the time.
Their H2H record is 4-2 to Dobey and he has won their last four in a row, including a 6-3 win on the Euro Tour last year, his third 6-3 win over Woodhouse.
Dobey is the 1.44 favourite, Woodhouse 3.20. Dobey should win this with something in hand.

2025 European Darts GP R2 Tip: 0.5 point Dobey to win 6-3 @ 5.80 with Livescorebet
Nathan Aspinall vs. Niels Zonneveld
Zonneveld has won six of his last ten matches and beat Ryan Searle 6-1 yesterday in a very poor match. They missed twenty eight doubles between them and Searle had a checkout rate of 6%.
Aspinall has lost five of his last ten matches. He has hit five sub 91 averages and three 97+. You have no idea of what he is going to do. He won ET2, was runner up in ET3 but lost his second round match in ET5. He doesn’t really need to be playing in these events.
Their H2H record is 2-2 and last year 1-1. Aspinall is the 1.57 favourite and Zonneveld 2.63.
There is around a 50% chance that the poor version of Aspinall will turn up and as such, Zonneveld is the value bet at the odds.
2025 European Darts GP R2 Tip: 1 point Niels Zonneveld to win @ 2.63 with Betfair
Rob Cross vs. Mike De Decker
Cross has lost seven of his last ten matches but averaged over 97 in seven of them. Yes, he is playing mostly PL matches but he has won just two Euro Tour matches in 2025. He just finds winning difficult.
Mike de Decker beat Max Hopp 6-4 in a low quality match yesterday, but at least he came back from 0-3. He has won six of his last ten matches but he is not the most consistent of players.
Their H2H record is 6-2 to Cross, but De Decker has won two of their last three. However, they haven’t played since May 2023.
This is an easy one to pass over. No bet.
2025 European Darts GP R2 Tip: No Bet
Dave Chisnall vs. Ross Smith
Smith has won seven of his last ten matches and was runner up last weekend. He has won fourteen Euro Tour matches in 2025 and is becoming something of a tour specialist. He has played Chizzy twice on the Euro Tour in 2025, winning both 6-4 and 6-2. Smith has won their last four matches and is 3-1 on the Euro Tour.
Chisnall has won all five of his second round matches on the Euro Tour in 2025, but only once made the quarter finals. His recent form sees six wins from ten and he has been playing OK in his last six. Good enough to beat Smith? Maybe.
Smith is the 1.57 favourite, Chisnall 2.50.
Their two Euro Tour matches in 2025 have produced fourteen 180s in just eighteen legs.
