2025 European Darts Open R2 Preview

You can rarely keep James Punt down for longa and he proved it last night. Two bets, two winners and Niko Springer advanced too. If Carlsberg did Friday night sessions… You can check out his 2025 European Darts Open R2 preview and tips below.

Ross Smith vs. Matt Campbell

Campbell won one of the worst games of darts you will ever see yesterday, and the competition was tough. We were on Alan Soutar to beat him, but Soots had forgotten what a double was, missing twenty. Campbell fell over the line as 6-4 winner, but it was just a relief that the match ended.

It was a 82.93 average for Campbell and needless to say he will need to be a lot better today. Campbell has won five of his last ten matches and his form is all over the place.

Ross Smith will be getting frustrated by his lack of progress on the Euro Tour. He just can’t get it all the way. This is a good place to start, but Campbell is as likely to average 99 as he is 82, so nothing can be taken for granted.

PC16 Win

Smith has won eight of his last ten matches and he did pick up the PC16 title a couple of weeks ago. His form is not only better than Campbell’s, but much more consistent.

Their H2H record is 3-1 to Smith and they last met in ET1 this year, which Smith won 6-4. It is hard to think that Campbell could get four legs off Smith after his display yesterday, but he really can’t play as badly again. Smith is the 1.40 favourite and Campbell 3.40. Over 9.5 legs makes some appeal as three of their four matches have been overs, but it is a no bet.

2025 European Darts Open R2 Tip: No Bet

Ryan Searle vs. Andrew Gilding

Gilding was a rarity yesterday afternoon. A player that averaged over 90. He beat Kevin Knopf 6-1 and averaged 97. Knopf was very poor and the result was never in doubt, but it ended a run of sub 90 averages for Gilding.

Searle has won six of his last ten matches and he won two matches on the Euro Tour last weekend, doubling his tally for the season. There are signs that he is coming into some better form as he has been of the boil for a couple of months.

Their H2H record is 4-2 to Searle. He is the 1.62 favourite to win, Gilding 2.38. Neither player makes any appeal at the odds. No bet.

2025 European Darts Open R2 Tip: No Bet

Damon Heta vs. Mickey Mansell

Mansell was our only winner of the afternoon session yesterday but it was a poor match and a 6-5 win was far from inspiring. Mansell had been in decent form but he seems to have dropped back again.

Heta has lost seven of his last ten matches and on the Euro Tour, he has lost seven of his twelve matches. He has played a lot of poor darts in Europe this season.

Their H2H record is 7-1 to Heta so he can handle Mansell’s slow pace. In their last five best of eleven leg matches, Mansell has failed to win more than three legs and the cumulative score has been 30-7 to Heta.

Heta is the 1.44 favourite, Mansell 3.00.

2025 European Darts Open R2 Tip: 1 point under 9.5 legs @ 1.80 with Livescorebet
2025 European Darts Open R2 Tip: 0.5 point Heta to win 6-2 @ 7.00 with Livescorebet

Danny Noppert vs. Ritchie Edhouse

Edhouse had a very easy 6-2 win over Petr Krivka yesterday as the big Czech didn’t turn up for their re-match. Edhouse has lost seven of his last ten matches, but won three of his last four, so maybe he has turned a corner. He is far from his best, however.

Noppert may also have turned a corner. He had a long run of defeats on the Euro Tour going back to last year but having one match in E5 and ET6 he finally won back to back matches in ET7. He played well last weekend but even a 107 average wasn’t enough to stop Jonny Clayton in the quarter final.

Their H2H record is 3-0 to Noppert, the last two being 6-2 wins, one of them at the start of this year.

Noppert is the 1.49 favourite, Edhouse 3.00.

2025 European Darts Open R2 Tip: 1 point Noppert to win -1.5 legs @ 1.84 with Livescorebet

Dave Chisnall vs. Cameron Menzies

Menzies managed to come back from 1-4 down against Huybrechts last night, winning five legs in a row to win 6-4 and landing our bet, which was just as well, otherwise the laptop was going out the window. Menzies has won six of his last ten matches but his doubling last night left a lot to be desired.

Chizzy might be back in form. He has won seven of his last ten matches but lost three of his last five. There are positive signs, enough for me to back him last weekend, but he lost 5-6 in the first round after a slow start to his match with Edhouse.

Their H2H record is 6-3 to Chisnall but Menzies has won two of their last three. Chisnall is the 1.91 favourite and Menzies 2.00. There are still too many question marks over Chisnall’s form and Menzies’ doubling was horrible last night. No bet.

2025 European Darts Open R2 Tip: No Bet

Gary Anderson vs. Wessel Nijman

We are on Anderson outright but this is a huge banana skin. Nijman is 2-0 vs. Anderson and he played some nice stuff in his 6-3 win over Dolan yesterday. I was hoping that Dolan could make a match of it and he did go 2-0 up but once Nijman found another gear, it was one way traffic. Nijman has won six of his last ten matches and is, on the whole, playing well.

I am stunned that Anderson has travelled to Germany for an event he really doesn’t have to play. Hopefully it is a sign that he means business. I am sure he would have liked an easier opening match but he is the 1.60 favourite, with Nijman 2.50.

Both of their matches were very close, 6-5 and 7-5, both on the floor last year.

2025 European Darts Open R2 Tip: 1 point over 9.5 legs @ 1.95 with Boylesports, Ladbrokes

Mike de Decker vs. Ryan Joyce

Ryan Joyce was solid in his 6-3 win over Ricky Evans. It was a 95 average, with a checkout rate of 43%. He could be a bit sharper on the doubles, but it was better than last weekend. He has won five of his last ten matches but hasn’t been showing much consistency.

Mike de Decker has also won five of his last ten matches but he hasn’t won a second round match on the Euro Tour since March, losing his last four.

Their H2H record is 3-2 to Joyce but they have not met for over two years. De Decker is the 1.80 favourite and Joyce 2.10.

Any value lies with Joyce, it almost always does, but I am still scarred by his doubling last weekend. No bet.

2025 European Darts Open R2 Tip: No Bet

Gian van Veen vs. Daryl Gurney

Superchin was impressive in his 6-2 win over Richard Veenstra last night. It was a 97 average and while his doubling wasn’t great, it was a decent performance. Gurney has won six of his last ten matches and his consistency leaves a bit to be desired, but his A game is still dangerous, even for the top players.

Gian van Veen has also won six of his last ten matches and his consistency is much the same as Gurney’s. He is not at the top of his game right now and Gurney has a chance here.

Van Veen is the 1.53 favourite, Gurney 2.95. They have not played since 2023 and their H2H record is 1-1. The odds on Gurney are attractive.

2025 European Darts Open R2 Tip: 1 point Daryl Gurney to win @ 2.95 with Livescorebet
