2025 European Darts Open Saturday Preview

Four winners for the maestro James Punt earlier, including one at 7.00… You can check out his 2025 European Darts Open Saturday evening preview and tips below.

Chris Dobey vs. Niko Springer

Springer beat Dirk van Duijvenbode 6-1 last night, but it was a very poor match from both players. Dirk only averaged 80.58, Niko 88.5. Springer was just a lot better on the doubles.

Chris Dobey is one of the heaviest scorers in the game, but his record on the Euro Tour is poor. He has only ever made one final and in 2025 he has only won one second round match from six played. He has been playing in the Premier League and that will have taken the edge of his form at weekends. Now he has had a week off, he will be fresh. We shall see if that lights his fuse.

Chris Dobey is the 1.62 favourite, Springer 2.35 and being backed. They have met just once, earlier this year on the floor and it was Springer who won 6-2. Dobey averaged 104 but was very poor on the doubles. Something similar would be nice for our 67.00 outright selection.

We have lost Ross Smith and Gary Anderson already and I am happy to sit this one out and hope for the best for Springer.

2025 European Darts Open Saturday Tip: No Bet

James Wade vs. Lukas Wenig

Wade is worth taking on, but could Wenig pull off a surprise win?

Wade has lost six of his last ten matches, so he is not in good form. He has played six second round matches in 2025 and lost four. He did his losing to better players than Wenig, but he did lose.

Wenig beat Neils Zonneveld 6-5 last night, and Triple N beat Wade in the second round of ET4, so there is a bit of a form line there. Wenig has won seven of his last ten matches, so he will be feeling quite good.

Wade is 2-0 vs Wenig, both played last year. The last match was on the Euro Tour and that was a 6-4 win for Wade. Wenig only averaged 83.15 that day. Wenig has only played four second round matches on the Euro Tour and won just one, a 6-4 win over Chris Dobey in 2022. He lost one 0-6 to Chizzy in 2020, but he gave a good account of himself against Schindler, losing 4-6, and he took five legs off Rob Cross last year.

2025 European Darts Open Saturday Tip: 1 point Lukas Wenig +2.5 legs @ 1.73 with Betfred

Jonny Clayton vs. Jermaine Wattimena

One of our outright selections, Jonny Clayton, has won two titles in the last two and a half weeks. PC14 and ET7 last weekend. He has won seven of his last ten matches, but one of his losses was to Wattimena. That was a 3-6 loss in ET5. Clayton was in the Euro Tour mire at that stage having lost three consecutive second round matches, and he lost two more before flipping that form on its head and winning in Rosmalen last weekend.

Wattimena beat a local qualifier 6-0 yesterday and he put in a very good display rather than being dragged down by a player averaging in the 70s. The Machine Gun has won six of his last ten matches and is playing well. He has lost two of his four second round matches on the Euro Tour this year.

Their H2H record is 8-8, but on the Euro Tour it is 3-1 to Wattimena.

Jonny Clayton is the 1.71 favourite, Wattimena 2.30.  I hope the market is right, but I will sit this one out and hope that The Ferret has his tail up. (Do Ferrets have tails?).

2025 European Darts Open Saturday Tip: No Bet

Michael Smith vs. Andreas Harrysson

Dirty Harry made my day with his 6-3 win over Van Barneveld last night. He is perfectly capable of causing these ‘surprise’ results, but can he do it twice in a row? That is usually a lot harder.

Smith is hard to predict right now. He is playing some great stuff. In his last ten matches he has won five and hit three ton plus averages and three 98+. But there have been four sub 90’s.

Clearly, if he turns up with a ton plus or high 90s average he is likely to win, but a sub 90? That would be game on. Smith has won three of his five second round matches in 2025 but put in only one really convincing performance.

Smith is the 1.44 favourite, Harrysson 3.20.

Sometimes you have to ask yourself a question…Do you feel lucky?

2025 European Darts Open Saturday Tip: 1 point Andreas Harrysson to win @ 3.20 with BET365, Livescorebet

Martin Schindler vs. Ricardo Pietreczko

Schindler is the German number 1, but playing a fellow German means he is not going to get 100% of the crowd on his side, which is usually the case. His recent form is not his best. He has had five sub 90 averages in his last ten matches.

Pikachu is in better form than he has been for a while. He is hitting some bigger numbers and last weekend he had his best run on the Euro Tour since making the final of the Flanders Darts Trophy last September. It was a quarter final defeat to Niko Springer last week, but he had beaten Sedlacek, Rock and Gurney before that.

Their H2H record is 2-2 and Pietreczko looks the value bet.

2025 European Darts Open Saturday Tip: 1 point Ricardo Pietreczko @ 2.70 with Livescorebet

Stephen Bunting vs. Luke Woodhouse

Bunting loves playing Woodhouse. He is 11-1 up in the H2H and has won their last ten in a row. In their best of eleven leg matches, he has covered a -1.5 leg handicap in nine of eleven off them.

2025 European Darts Open Saturday Tip: 1 point Stephen Bunting to win -1.5 legs @ 1.73 with Ladbrokes, Betfred
