2025 European Darts Trophy Sunday Tips
Last night’s session didn’t go as well as the previous two but James Punt is looking to get back on track today. Check out his 2025 European Darts Trophy Sunday tips below.
Tough Evening
It was a great afternoon session yesterday but a terrible evening. Just the one winner from five was disappointing but we go again.
Cameron Menzies vs. Mike de Decker
Our outright selection, Mike de Decker will have to do something he has never done before and that is to beat Menzies. The Ayrshire plumber is 4-0 vs. De Decker and in their last match, at the UK Open a few weeks ago it was a comprehensive 10-4 win.
De Decker was mighty last night, averaging 105 in a 6-4 win over Peter Wright, who also averaged 105. Despite that H2H record, De Decker is the 1.67 favourite, but I will not be betting on this match.
2025 European Darts Trophy Sunday Tip: No Bet
Rob Cross vs. Ryan Joyce
Joyce beat a surprisingly good Dimitri van den Bergh 6-4 yesterday. It was a tough match but Joyce was up for it and played well.
Rob Cross was 2-4 down to Andrew Gilding but rallied to win the match 6-4. Both players have won six of their last ten matches, but it must be said that Cross is playing the better darts, more consistently.
Their H2H record is 8-3 to Cross. Joyce can be a formidable opponent and cannot be dismissed lightly, but Cross deserves to be favourite, but I don’t bet on his matches. 1.62 is a bit on the short side anyway.
2025 European Darts Trophy Sunday Tip: No Bet
Gerwyn Price vs. Wessel Nijman
This could be interesting. Nijman has beaten Price in their last two meetings, but he will need to be at his best to beat the in-form Price today. The Welshman averaged 103.74 in his 6-4 win over Ryan Searle in what was the match of the day. Price will be feeling good after coming through that test. He has won seven of his last ten matches. He is not unbeatable, but he will be hard to beat.
Nijman has needed a deciding leg to beat Paul Krohne and Danny Noppert. His A game can live with Price, and beat him, but Price is playing better, more consistently. The Welshman is the 1.60 favourite with Nijman 2.40.
Three of their four matches have been close, two required a deciding leg and this could be similar. Their previous matches have produced 25 maximums at 0.625 per leg. Nijman hit six against Noppert yesterday and Proce has four against Searle.

Michael van Gerwen vs. Gian van Veen
Van Gerwen got his revenge on Nico Springer last night having been beaten by the German on Monday. Now he gets the chance to do the same with Van Veen, who he lost to a couple of weeks ago. MVG has won five of his last ten matches but he is playing a lot better than that sounds. His performance against Springer on Monday was a very poor performance but generally, he is averaging high 90s or ton plus.
Van Veen has won eight of his last ten matches and picked up his first senior title just twelve days ago. He is not quite as consistent as Van Gerwen but his A game is good enough to beat anyone. Van Veen has recent wins over MVG, Luke Littler and Luke Humphries and there are no bigger scalps than those three.
Their H2H record is 3-2 to MVG and the last time they met on the Euro Tour it was in the final of the Hungarian Darts Trophy, which MVG won 8-7.
Van Gerwen is the 1.73 favourite, Van Veen 2.20. I can’t argue with that. There might be a bit of value with Van Veen, but MVG looks in good form this week. No bet.
2025 European Darts Trophy Sunday Tip: No Bet
Dave Chisnall vs. Ross Smith
Chizzy found his form against Ricky Evans and Evans lost his, resulting in a 6-1 win for Chisnall. He had been playing rubbish going into that match with four consecutive sub 90 averages. It is hard to know what to expect from Chisnall these days.
Ross Smith is arguably the best player of the tournament so far. He had a 106 average in round 1 and a 99 when beating James Wade 6-2 yesterday. He has only dropped three legs across his two matches.
Their H2H record is 6-5 to Chisnall and their last Euro Tour meeting was in the final of last year’s European Darts Open, which Chisnall won 8-6 despite averaging just 89.67. Smith has lost two Euro Tour finals, both last year. He is desperate to win one of these events and he is knocking on the door, with those two finals and four other semi-finals including in Belgium two weeks ago.
Bogey Man
Chisnall is almost up there with Rob Cross in terms of being a bogeyman for me. He can find or lose his form at short notice, as he did last night.
Smith is the 1.65 favourite which reflects how well he has played so far. Rather than back him to win this match, I am going all in a backing him for the tournament. He has got his 180 head on and he is a very dangerous player when he is banging in the maximums.
2025 European Darts Trophy Sunday Tip: 0.5 point e/w Ross Smith to win the European Darts Trophy @ 15.00 generally available
Martin Schindler vs. Gary Anderson
Anderson missed six doubles to land our unders bet vs. Woodhouse. It was a strange game. Woodhouse missed darts to go 4-0 up, but from that point onwards, Woody couldn’t hit a double and Anderson won six of the last seven legs.
Martin Schindler put some modest form behind him to average 106 against a very poor Jonny Clayton, winning 6-1. Schindler did win PC8 on Tuesday so he is winning plenty of matches but he had not been scoring well. He has only dropped three legs so far in his first two matches. He has the crowd on his side but Anderson won’t be bothered by that.
PC Winner
Anderson has also recently won a Players Championship title. He picked up PC7 on Monday, the day before Schindler won his title. Their H2H record is 2-0 to Anderson. It is strange that they have only met twice. Their last match was back in 2021 and before that 2018. Both were easy wins for Anderson, but the form is too old to be of much relevance.
This very tough to call. No great H2H form to draw on, both are very recent pro tour winners, one has home advantage and both are Euro Tour winners. Schindler had not been playing that well but he came alive last night and he has become something of a Euro Tour specialist.
Anderson is the 1.54 favourite, Schindler 2.60. It is hard to call, but the value has to lie with Schindler.
2025 European Darts Trophy Sunday Tip: 1 point Martin Schindler to win @ 2.60 with Ladbrokes
Nathan Aspinall vs. Jermaine Wattimena
Wattimena was superb when beating Chris Dobey 6-4 yesterday. He loves playing Dobey and he averaged 111 to Dobey’s 101. He had got over his illness and looked in much better shape.
The Asp just about beat a poor Ritchie Edhouse. It was a 6-5 win in a very poor match. It was Aspinall’s third sub 90 average in a row and he is not in good form. Wattimena’s form has dropped off a bit, but he found his A game yesterday. If he does so again, he wins.
The downside is that Aspinall loves playing Wattimena, and is 7-1 against the Dutchman. Wattimena did win their last one 6-1, but that was back in 2023 and Wattimena has improved a lot in the last year or so. Wattimena is a dangerous player in this quarter and he has beaten Luke Humphries in their last two matches. I very nearly picked as an each way bet.
2025 European Darts Trophy Sunday Tip: 1 point Jermaine Wattimena to win @ 1.91 with Hills
Luke Humphries vs. Michael Smith
Humphries was tested by Boris Krčmar last night, Both players averaged over the ton but Humphries edged it 6-4. Smith had a much easier task in beating a poor Pietreczko 6-2.
Smith has only won four of his last ten matches and is not in good form. Humphries is playing very well, very consistently and is keen to get some wins under his belt after losing three PL matches.
Their H2H record is 11-9 to Humphries but right now, Humphries is the better player. He is the 1.33 favourite. No bet.
2025 European Darts Trophy Sunday Tip: No Bet
That is all for me for this weekend. Usual PL preview will be posted on Wednesday.
