2025 German Darts Championship Friday Preview
James Punt made a solid start in R1 with three winners from his first five bets. Check out his 2025 German Darts Championship Friday preview below.
Jermaine Wattimena vs. Keane Barry
We have a small wager on Wattimena to win the title and hopefully he can get off to a good start. He is in the form of his life and after years of waiting to win a PDC title, he has now won two in the last four months.
This week he won PC31 on Tuesday and reached the semi-final of PC32 the next day. We know his floor form is very good, but he needs to start taking it onto the stage. Hie Euro Tour form in 2025 sees a best finish of a quarter final in the Czech darts Open. He has never got beyond the quarter final stage in 67 Euro Tour events.
Keane Barry has won seven of his last ten, but six were in the World Youth Championship qualifiers. At senior level, he has lost seven of his last ten matches. He has not played in a Euro Tour event in 2025 and he only got here via the reserve list.
Wattimena is the 1.36 favourite, Barry 3.25. Their H2H record is 2-0 to Barry, but they have not played since 2022 and Wattimena is a far better player now. Barry? He has never quite lived up to his early promise.
Wattimena has played thirteen first round matches in 2025, winning eight, and nine saw under 9.5 legs.
2025 German Darts Championship Friday Tip: 1 point under 9.5 legs @ 1.67 generally available
Daryl Gurney vs. Christian Kist
Gurney has won five of his last ten matches and that just about sums up his current form. He is very inconsistent and can’t string many wins together.
Christian Kist is in very poor form, losing eight of his last ten matches. He has hit three 98+ averages, so it is not all bad, but most of it is. Kist has played in one Euro Tour event in 2025 and beat Menzies 6-5 in a very good match before losing 3-6 to Heta with a pretty ropey performance.
Their H2H record is 3-2 to Gurney and he won their only match in 2025 6-4. It was a poor match which Gurney won by being better on the doubles. Something similar would not be a surprise.
2025 German Darts Championship Friday Tip: 0.5 point Daryl Gurney to win 6-4 @ 6.00 generally available
Ricardo Pietreczko vs. Radoslaw Szaganski
The 2023 German Darts Championship winner, Ricardo Pietreczko, just needs to win this to ensure he makes the European Championship finals. He has lost six of his last ten matches and hit seven sub 90 averages.
Pikachu will be hoping that a return to the scene of his only Euro Tour title win will inspire him. He is defending that prize money, of course, so there is a bit more pressure than any old match. That said, he would need to win it again to regain his place back in the top 32.
Decent Form
Szaganski has won five of his last ten matches and has played some good stuff, including a 103.11 average in a win over Chris Dobey on Tuesday. He has only played in five Euro Tour events in his career and lost all five first round matches, three of them 1-6.
Their H2H record is 3-2 to Szaganski but Pikachu has won their last two, both last year, both 5-6 and both on the floor.
Pietreczko is the 1.67 favourite, Szaganski 2.30. Pietreczko has played twelve Euro Tours in 2025 and won ten first round matches. He also has home advantage. I suspect Szaganski’s losing run on the Euro Tour will extend to six matches at the end of this match.
2025 German Darts Championship Friday Tip: 1 point Ricardo Pietreczko to win @ 1.73 BET365
Dirk van Duijvenbode vs. Karel Sedlacek
Sedlacek has a very slim chance of making the finals, but he needs to win the title to do so. He is more interested in adding money to his two year OOM tally and avoid losing his card again. Evil Charlie has won five of his last ten matches and is not in good form. On the Euro Tour he has played five first round matches and won three.
Dirk has won six of his last ten matches but hit four sub 90 averages and it is this inconsistency that is holding him back. It also means he can lose to outsiders at any time.
Their H2H record is 4-3 to Van Duijvenbode and he has won both of their stage matches. He has beaten Sedlacek 6-3 on three occasions and he should be able to do something similar against an out of sorts Evil Charlie.
2025 German Darts Championship Friday Tip: 0.5 point Van Duijvenbode to win 6-3 @ 6.00 generally available
Raymond van Barneveld vs. Kevin Troppmann
Barney has lost six of his last ten matches and is a bit all over the place. On the Euro Tour, Barney reached the quarter final last time out and he has won eight of his thirteen first round matches. He has drawn a local qualifier five times in 2025 and beaten them all, beaten them all within nine legs and three of them 6-3.
Troppmann has won five of his last ten matches, averages 83.86 in 2025 and lost his only Euro Tour match in 2025 2-6 to Niko Springer.
2025 German Darts Championship Friday Tip: 0.5 point Van Barneveld to win 6-3 @ 5.25 with SpreadEx
Ricky Evans vs. Joe Cullen
Ricky Evans got here as a reserve and it could hardly have come at a worse time. Rapid has lost eight of his last ten matches but he did average 101 in a 6-5 win over Josh Rock on Tuesday. Evans has played in two Euro Tours in 2025 and won one and lost one.
Joe Cullen is not in much better form than Evans, losing seven of his last ten matches. He has played eleven first round matches on the Euro Tour in 2025 and lost seven.
Two players in poor form is always a turn off for me. Their H2H record is 13-3 to Cullen and he has won their last nine matches and hasn’t lost to Evans since 2018.
Joe Cullen is the 1.91 favourite. Evans is being backed, but I can’t see why. No bet.
2025 German Darts Championship Friday Tip: No Bet
Gabriel Clemens vs. Tomislav Rosandic
What has happened to Clemens? A World Championship semi-finalist in 2023 but he hasn’t even qualified for the last three majors in 2025. He has qualified for one Euro Tour event in 2025, and he got here via the reserve list. He has lost seven of his last ten matches and has been lucky to draw the Eastern Europe qualifier.
Rosandic is a new one for me. He beat Boris Kcrmar in the East European qualifier to get here and he only seems to play Euro Tour qualifiers and this is his debut.
I can’t trust Clemens to win at 1.22, but don’t know enough about the Croat to back him at 4.80. No bet.
2025 German Darts Championship Friday Tip: No Bet
Nathan Aspinall vs. Maximillian Czerwinski
Hardly saving the best for last tonight. Aspinall is the 1.12 favourite to win this and he does have a good record of smashing up qualifiers in the first round. Czerwinski is a tour card holder so he is not the usual cannon fodder that Aspinall has been dominating recently.
Czerwinski has lost eight of his last ten matches and every one of those saw a sub 85 average. He could still be cannon fodder, but he has only lost two Pro Tour matches 0-6 all season.
Aspinall has won eight of his last ten matches and he was runner up to Wattimena in PC31 on Tuesday. It is a bit mental that Aspinall has won two Euro Tour titles in 2025, been runner up in another, and is number one in the European OOM, but he has to play in the first round.
The Asp has played in three first round matches, and he has won them all 6-0. He might not do it again, but my guess is that he won’t be far off doing so.
