2025 Grand Slam Darts Saturday Preview

Now, it is time for James Punt’s 2025 Grand Slam Darts Saturday preview. He has already posted his outright tips, read that preview here.

Gerwyn Price vs. Ricky Evans

Three-time Grand Slam Championship winner Gerwyn Price is the 1.30 favourite and he has won his last ten matches against Evans. The money is going down on Evans, however.

Rapid has hit some good form, winning eight of his last ten matches. He did enough at the last Players Championship events to confirm his place in the finals and backed that up by qualifying for the Grand Slam at the tour card holders’ qualifier. That means he is in all the remaining majors and set up pick up some decent cheques. He is a happy bunny.

Off the oche, he is ‘loved up’ and happy about his personal life. It is no surprise that his game has picked up. It is a big ask to beat Price, especially given that H2H record, but I suspect that he will give The Iceman something to think about and make this closer than the bookies think.

James Wade vs. Steffan Bellmont

Bellmont is the big outsider of the group and he is up against an in-form, tournament specialist in the shape of James Wade. This will be their first meeting and Wade is the 1.29 favourite and the Swiss number 1, a 4.33 shot.

Wade has played in seventeen Grand Slams but looking just at his last five Slams, in the eleven group stage matches he has won, six ended 5-2. I would not be surprised to see him add another 5-2 win to that list.

2025 Grand Slam Darts Saturday Tip: 0.5 point James Wade to win 5-2 @ 4.50 with Boylesports

Josh Rock vs. Wessel Nijman

One player is bang in form, the other is not. The player that is in-form is the outsider.

Nijman has won sixteen of his last seventeen matches, and you don’t get more in-form than that. Rock has lost seven of his last ten.

Their H2H form is 3-1 to Rock, but they haven’t played since they met here, in the group stage last year. Rock won that 5-3, despite Nijman outscoring him. The Dutchman just didn’t take his chances. One year on, I think he will be better equipped to take those chances.

Gian Van Veen vs. Lisa Ashton

Lisa Ashton has played in four previous Grand Slams and is yet to win a match. She has only been beaten to nil once, by MVG, but this year she has landed in a group with three of the finest young players in the sport.

One, Gian Van Veen, has just won his first major title. Another, Josh Rock, won the World Cup of Darts and the other, Wessel Nijman is in top form and just picked up a players championship title a couple of weeks ago. All three are in the top 13 for 3 dart average over the last 12 months. Lisa is facing some serious fire power.

The three young men are aware that they are in a tight group and that it could come down to leg difference. They cannot take it easy against Ashton. They just have to go in for the kill and try to win every leg.

2025 Grand Slam Darts Saturday Tip: 0.5 point Gian Van Veen to win 5-1 @ 3.10 with Betvictor
