2025 International Darts Open Saturday Preview
It was a fantastic four timer for James this afternoon, he’s looking for more of the same this evening. Check out James Punt’s 2025 International Darts Open Saturday evening preview and tips below.
Dimitri van den Bergh vs. Thibault Tricole
By beating Michael Smith 6-3 in the first round, Tricole became the first Frenchman to win a match on the Euro Tour. It was a good effort by Tricole, and a poor performance from Smith, whose search for his best form continues. Tricole has won just four of his last ten matches and he tends to do his winning against fellow journeymen players.
Van den Bergh is a major winner and all that, but his form of the last year or so is largely that of a journeyman. He can still pull it out on TV, but his win rate in 2025 is just 42% and he has lost seven of his last ten matches and both his Euro Tour matches in 2025.
Van den Bergh is the 1.67 favourite, with Tricole 2.50. Van den Bergh is unbackable at those odds given his form. Will Tricole be able to carry his good form of yesterday into today? If Van den Bergh has one of his increasingly common off days, he may not have to play that well.
2025 International Darts Open R2 Tip: 1 point Thibault Tricole to win @ 2.50 with SpreadEx
Jonny Clayton vs. Raymond van Barneveld
Barney rolled out his A game against local qualifier Patrick Klingelhöfer last night, averaging 103 in a 6-1 win. He has won six of his last ten matches but consistency is not his strong suit.
Clayton has lost six of his last ten matches and, like RVB, his consistency is lacking.
Their H2H record is surprisingly short at 2-2. They played twice last year with one win each.
Jonny Clayton is the 1.56 favourite, Barney 2.50. With two unpredictable players going head to head, that is my cue to sit this one out. No bet.
2025 International Darts Open Saturday Tip: No bet
Gerwyn Price vs. Mike de Decker
Gerwyn Price won PC9 on Monday and since then he has played three matches, played poorly and lost two of them. He needs to get his head down and find that winning form. Returning to a tournament he has won four times might just flick that switch.
Mike de Decker beat Price in the quarter final of the Belgian Darts Open last month and he remains in pretty good form, winning seven of his last ten matches, although his consistency could be better.
Their H2H record is 5-2 to Price, but it is De Decker who has won the last two.
Price is the 1.62 favourite with De Decker 2.60. We are on Price outright and that is enough interest for me in what looks to be a tricky match, but the odds look about right.
2025 International Darts Open Saturday Tip: No Bet
Luke Humphries vs. Dirk van Duijvenbode
Luke Humphries didn’t play at the two Players Championship events earlier in the week but he got a win over Rob Cross on Thursday night. However, he has lost five of his last ten matches and is not in his best form. He was just rank poor when losing 2-6 to Bunting on Thursday, averaging 88. He has complained about feeling tired, which is why he skipped the pro tour events.
Dirk opened up with a convincing 6-3 win over Niko Springer and a ton plus average. It was a proper match and a good performance. He has won eight of his last ten matches and is looking near his best. I still have my doubts about him in the latter stages, but he is in with a chance here.
Their H2H record is 10-3 to Luke but this is a good looking chance for Dirk to end a run of six defeats to Humphries.

Richard Veenstra vs. Andrew Gilding
There have been a few lucky players this weekend. Martin Schindler got a free pass into round three thanks to Rob Cross having to pull out due to illness, and Richard Veenstra got straight into round two after MVG withdrew. His reward is a match with Captain Weird, Andrew Gilding.
Gilding beat the in-form William O’Connor 6-3 and played well, averaging 98.61. He has won six of his last ten matches but is not playing with much consistency.
Veenstra has lost six of his last ten matches and is quite consistently poor, with the odd flash of something better.
Thie H2H record is 3-3, with Gilding winning their only match in 2025 6-4 last month. They met in ET3 last year, and Veenstra won that 6-4.
Andrew Gilding is the 1.57 favourite which is fair enough, given Veenstra’s lack of form. No bet.
2025 International Darts Open Saturday Tip: No Bet
Peter Wright vs. Ritchie Edhouse
Edhouse got a bit of a scare against Czech qualifier Petr Křivka. The bloke was a maniac and Edhouse was struggling with his game and his opponent going nuts. It was quite funny, but Edhouse got over the line with a 6-4 win but only an 88.50 average. Edhouse has won six of his last ten matches and he has been playing a lot better than he did yesterday.
Peter Wright has won five of his last ten matches but lost five of his last six. He is playing better than that sounds but he is still light years away from the player he was a few years ago.
Their H2H record is 4-1 to Wright and he won their only match in 2024 6-3 on the Euro Tour.
Wright is the 1.73 favourite with Edhouse being backed and into 2.10. Wright has lost his two opening matches in Europe this season, but he has played well enough, averaging 95 when losing 2-6 to Matt Campbell and 105 when going down 4-6 to Mike de Decker.
Edhouse has played five matches on the Euro Tour this season and four have gone over 9.5 legs and three to a deciding leg. Three of their five matches have been over 9.5 legs and another would be no surprise.
2025 International Darts Open Saturday Tip: 1 point over 9.5 legs @ 1.91 with Ladbrokes, Boylesports, SpreadEx
Nathan Aspinall vs. Joe Cullen
Cullen beat Robert Owen 6-1 last night with both players averaging 85. He has won four of his last ten matches and those included four sub 90 averages. He has lost six of his last eight and can’t be feeling overly confident.
Aspinall won ET2 a couple of weeks ago. Since then he has played seven matches and lost four of them and his form has been all over the shop.
Their H2H record is 9-6 to Aspinall and he has won their last six in a row. The last one was back in 2023. He is 3-1 on the Euro Tour, winning the last three and covering a -1.5 leg handicap in the process.
2025 International Darts Open Saturday Tip: 1 point Nathan Aspinall -1.5 legs to win @ 2.00 with Betfred, Ladbrokes
Josh Rock vs. Gian van Veen
Van Veen didn’t waste much energy when beating Paul Goyer 6-1 last night. It was basically a bit of stage practice for him. Van Veen has won seven of his last ten matches, hitting seven 98+ averages, so he is in good form.
Josh Rock won PC10 on Tuesday and he has won eleven of his last twelve matches. You can’t knock his form, but his H2H record with Gian van Veen is 1-7 and when they met just two weeks ago in ET2 it was Van Veen who was the 6-4 winner. Rock has not beaten Van Veen at senior level and is 0-2 on the Euro Tour.
Both players are playing well and hopefully we get a good match. Van Veen is the 1.80 favourite, but I’ll have a go with the total legs.
