2025 International Darts Open Sunday Preview
Saturday was a good day. Seven winners from nine bets, including four from four in the afternoon and three in a row to finish off the evening. Even better, our three outright bets remain in the running. Check out James Punt’s 2025 International Darts Open Sunday preview and tips below.
Luke Humphries vs. Ross Smith
It was a 99.84 average for Humphries in last night’s easy win over Dirk van Duijvenbode, but he didn’t exactly sound positive in his post-match interview. He said that he needs a break and that he has to play too much darts.
That is down to the Premier League. It goes on forever and the eight man format means playing more matches. The one player who is managing his schedule well is not here, Luke Littler. But he has won his Euro Tour title and can just stay away for the rest of the season if he wants.
Humphries has won six of his last ten matches and by his standards has been a little inconsistent. That said, his B game can keep him competitive.
Easy Win
Ross Smith had an easy 6-2 win over Pietreczko yesterday and averaged 100. He is one of the players who isn’t playing Premier League and will be a little fresher as a result. It is a long day for the players that make the semi-final and final and it will be interesting to see the tank empties for the likes of Humphries, Price, Aspinall and Bunting.
Smith has won seven of his last ten matches and is playing at a similar level to Humphries. Their H2H record is 9-2 to Humphries. They last met a month ago in the semi-final of PC6, and Humphries won that 7-4. Humphries has won all of their last six matches. They have met on the Euro Tour three times, Humphries winning them all, two 6-4 and one 6-3.
Luke Fav
Humphries is the 1.50 favourite, Smith 2.87.
I do think there is a chance that Humphries will run out of steam at some point today, but that might be in the evening. Smith has the A-game to beat anyone, but that H2H record is a hint that he finds it hard against Luke.
2025 International Darts Open Sunday Tip: 0.5 point Luke Humphries to win 6-4 @ 6.50 with Skybet
Damon Heta vs. Wessel Nijman
Nijman hasn’t had to put up with much resistance so far. He is averaging 92.27 so far but lost just four legs. Will he get another no show opponent? Nijman has won seven of his last ten matches and he is a bit hit or miss right now.
Heta was poor against Super Mario, averaging just 88.90. He has been playing some very good darts, but also some pretty poor darts, so he is not banker material.
Their H2H record is 1-1. Heta beat Nijman 6-0 in PC6 last year, Nijman beat Heta 7-5 in the semi-final of PC15.
This one looks too tricky for me. The market agrees and you can back both players at 1.91. No bet.
2025 International Darts Open Sunday Tip: No Bet
Stephen Bunting vs. Cameron Menzies
Bunting has a spring in his step having won the PL night in Berlin on Thursday night. He was close to losing to Labanauskas yesterday as the Lithuanian did manage to follow up his 102 average in the first round, with another ton plus average.
Bunting responded with a 107.91 to edge it 6-4. That means Bunting has won eight of his last ten matches and is playing at the top of his form.
Cameron Menzies has also won eight of his last ten matches, but he is not playing at the same level as Bunting is, match in match out. However, he did average 100 in his 6-5 win over James Wade yesterday. He made it as difficult for himself as possible, missing three match darts, surviving three match darts before getting it over the line.
H2H
Their H2H record is 5-2 to Menzies and he has won their last five, including a Players Championship final in 2024, and there was 6-3 win this February. This will be their first time playing on a stage.
Bunting is the 1.65 favourite, Menzies 2.38.
This time last week, Menzies would have been the bet, but now Bunting is full of confidence. Menzies should be feeling confident as well. He is winning lots of matches and has positive mental associations of playing Bunting, but Menzies is a glass half full kind of player.
We are on Menzies outright, the bet placed before Bunting played in the PL on Thursday, but you never know, we might get a break. No bet.
2025 International Darts Open Sunday Tip: No Bet
Raymond van Barneveld vs. Karel Sedláček
Barney has dropped just three legs across his two matches so far and is averaging 100.50. He has had the luxury of not having much coming back at him. Jonny Clayton was terrible yesterday, averaging just 81.41, and Patrick Klingelhöfer 90.79 in the first round. Van Barneveld is in decent form, winning six of his last ten matches.
Evil Charlie has also won six of his last ten matches and while he is only averaging 91.40, he has taken care of two Dutchies ranked higher than RVB, Wattimena and Noppert.
Their H2H record is 3-3 and in 2024 2-1 to Sedlacek. Five of their six matches have been over 9.5 legs and half needed a deciding leg. We have seen the best of Barney so far, but not the best of Sedlacek so far.
2025 International Darts Open Sunday Tip: 1 point over 9.5 legs @ 2.10 with Betvictor, Betfair
Andrew Gilding vs. Josh Rock
Josh Rock finally got one over Gian Van Veen at senior level, but it took a 107 average to get his 6-4 win. He has won twelve of his last thirteen matches, won PC10 on Tuesday and looks like he could go all the way.
Andrew Gilding didn’t have to do much to get a 6-0 win over Richard Veenstra last night. He certainly didn’t expend any energy, nor have to play as well as he did in the first round win over William O’Connor.
This is a big clash of styles. Rock is 100 miles per hour while Gilding is very slow and very deliberate. Goldfinger has won seven of his last ten matches but he rarely hits the same sort of heights as Rock does.
Their H2H record is 3-0 to Rock, so he can handle Gilding’s pace of play, but this will be their first stage match.
2025 International Darts Open Sunday Tip: Josh Rock to win -1.5 legs @ 1.70 with Hills
Gerwyn Price vs. Nathan Aspinall
The Asp got a free pass last night. Joe Cullen managed to average 80.11 and Aspinall won 6-1 without trying. I thought Cullen said he was really good? That means Aspinall has won six of his last ten matches and is playing with no great consistency. He is going from ton plus to sub 90 from one match to the next.
Price has won eight of his last ten matches and won PC9 on Monday, so both players have won a title recently, but Price is playing with a little more consistency.
Their H2H record is 20-12 to Price and he has won eight of their last nine.
Price is the 1.62 favourite, with Aspinall 2.38. We are on Price outright so hopefully he can get through this, and I think he will.
2025 International Darts Open Sunday Tip: No Bet
Martin Schindler vs. Dimitri van den Bergh
Schindler had the day off yesterday so he will be well rested, and that may come into play if he continues his run today. He was impressive in the first round averaging 102.68 against Thomas Lovely and he has won seven of his last ten matches and hit five ton plus averages in his last six.
Van den Bergh was lucky to be playing Thibault Tricole yesterday. The Frenchman should have won easily but he doesn’t really have the bottle and couldn’t take a very good chance to make the final day.
Dimitri finally realised that Tricole was very tense and he did enough to turn the match around and win 6-4. It was just a 90.68 average, but he played better than that in the latter stages. He has won just four of his last ten matches and is struggling to find any sort of form.
Head To Head
Their H2H record is 10-4 to Van den Bergh but Van den Bergh is a different player to what he was even a year ago. They have played once in 2025 and Schindler won that 6-3 at the Belgian Darts Open a few weeks ago.
Schindler is the 1.57 favourite, Van den Bergh 2.63. We are on Schindler outright to small stakes, but he looks decent value here to cover the handicap.
2025 International Darts Open Sunday Tip: 1 point Martin Schindler to win -1.5 legs @ 1.95 with Betfred
Dave Chisnall vs. Peter Wright
Chizzy is showing signs that his form is returning. He averaged 97.80 in a 6-2 win over Luke Woodhouse yesterday. That was his fifth 97+ plus average in his last eight matches and he has not shown anything like that sort of form since last autumn. He is not yet completely consistent, but he looks close to being back as a real contender on the Euro Tour. He has won six of his last ten matches.
Peter Wright is also trying to get his form back and he is showing some positive signs, hitting a couple of ton plus averages in his last five matches, but there have been a couple of sub 90s as well, including yesterday’s 6-5 win over Ritchie Edhouse. He has lost five of his last seven matches, so he has some way to go.
Their H2H record is 23-16 to Chisnall and he has won five of their last six. In 2024 it was 3-1 to Chisnall. Neither player can be called banker material but Chisnall looks the better bet.
I was surprised to see that he is 2.00 to win this one. Not quite banker material, but this was nearly a two pointer.
