2025 Night 12 Premier League Darts Preview

This Thursday the PL circus heads to Liverpool so Stephen Bunting will be hoping to make home advantage count. It has been a struggle for us in the last couple of PL nights but James Punt fired in four winners from four bets in his last Euro Tour preview on Monday so hopefully, we can keep that momentum going. Check out his 2025 Night 12 Premier League Darts preview below.

Night 11 Reflections

Night 11 was nearly as bad as Night 10 as the curse of the Premier League gets its head of steam. We are -5.97 points down but the good news is that there are only six more weeks left before it is all over.

Players were unhappy with another draughty stage in Rotterdam last week and Littler was unhappy that a crowd was not showing him enough respect. This seems to be a growing problem for Littler. The European crowds are just not that keen on him and he isn’t able to cope with it. Luckily for him, he doesn’t have to travel to Europe again until the European Championship in October.

Tonight’s Groundhog Day of Darts comes from Liverpool, and it will be interesting to see if the Liverpool crowd gives Man Utd supporting Littler another frosty reception. It is home advantage for Stephen Bunting tonight.

Littler Top

Littler is secure at the top of the table on thirty points, seven clear of Humphries in second place. Nathan Aspinall has moved up to third place, while Price and MVG are on fifteen points and fourth and fifth respectively.

Last week saw the final played out between the two players at the bottom of the table and it was won by Chris Dobey. That has moved him up to sixth place and three points outside the playoff places. Bunting remains last, with Rob Cross falling away and down to seventh place.

Rob Cross and MVG are the only two players to not have won a nightly title. Van Gerwen won the German Darts Grand Prix on Monday night, so he has to enter calculations for the win tonight.

Luke Humphries vs. Nathan Aspinall

This is a match which should be avoided. Aspinall won his quarter final last week but was struggling with yet another injury. He hurt it playing in the final of PC13 and took the Tuesday off before Night 11 last week. The Asp also withdrew from the German Darts Grand Prix last weekend. He says it is ‘nothing serious’ but he is resting his arm in order to be fit enough for the PL. That does beg the question? Is he doing any practice?

Aspinall was in great form, winning ET2, runner up in ET3, won PL night 10 and was runner up in PC13. You can just about work out when he felt something go. The quarter final of PC13. His averages suddenly dropped down into the 80s, and he did well to reach the final.

Form Dipped

Last week he beat Gerwyn Price 6-3 and played well, but Price was out of sorts due to the on stage conditions. Aspinall then lost 2-6 to Chris Dobey and only averaged 90. From winning thirteen matches from fourteen played, his form has suddenly dropped, that win against Price excepted.

Humphries took last weekend off as he looks to get some rest. He was falling out of form, losing five of his last ten matches. He was losing while still hitting some big averages and it looked like he was just mentally worn out, so having a break might have done the trick.

Their H2H record is 12-9 to Humphries and in 2025 3-2.

With Humphries trying to regain his winning ways, and Aspinall having injury doubts, I am not interested in this one.

Luke Littler vs. Michael Van Gerwen

Is this a good opportunity for MVG to get his first nightly win? He is coming here off the back of winning the German Darts Grand Prix. He did it in some style, hitting four ton plus averages and a 96. A flash in the pan, or a sign of a return to form? It was his first title of 2025 and it will only have helped his confidence.

Littler is having a few strops. The European fans are not showing him enough love, supporting other players, and he is taking his ball and going home. He may be making a rod for his own back. Once ‘fans’ smell blood, they will go in for the kill. Clearly the European fans can press his buttons, and as he posts his annoyance on social media, the world and his dog now knows how to wind him up.

He was giving it some to the crowd here last year but I suspect if he tries it again this week, he might get a more aggressive response. Liverpool are winning the League, Man Utd are dire, so the only thing he has is his darts.

ET Semi-Finalist

Littler reached the semi-final of the German Darts Grand Prix but was given a bit of a going over by Gian van Veen. He stormed off the stage without acknowledging the crowd and effectively blamed them for his defeat. The fact that Van Veen averaged 110.81 must have escaped his attention.

The Liverpool fans in the crowd tonight will be on MVG’s side, and that will annoy Littler. He hasn’t been beating everyone put in front of him and he may be vulnerable at the moment. Their H2H record is 11-7 to Littler, and he has won seven of their last eight matches. In this year’s PL, he is 3-1 up.

MVG will be feeling better after his win on Monday, Littler is picking fights with the crowds and this is another venue where he may not be flavour of the night. His B game is good enough to win legs against the best, so we could have a close one.

Rob Cross vs. Stephen Bunting

Cross has fallen to seventh place in the league table. It is not like he is playing poorly, he just finds winning matches hard. Last week he averaged 110 but lost 5-6 to Littler in the quarter final. He has lost his last three quarter finals and it is turning out to be another disappointing PL campaign for Cross. He has lost seven of his last ten matches, is on a bit of a losing run, and it doesn’t seem to matter how he plays.

The crowd will be going Bunting Mental and it is a shame he isn’t playing Littler. Bunting has won eight of his last ten matches, he won ET3 three weeks ago and had the luxury of taking last weekend off to rest up before his big night in Liverpool. He has picked up eight points in the last three weeks, and he will be thinking that a good result here tonight, maybe the full five points, and suddenly he would be not that far off the playoffs.

Their H2H record is a worry for Bunting. Cross is 14-3 up and Bunting has lost their last eight matches. Bunting last beat Cross nearly three years ago.

This is not a straightforward 1 point win bet on Bunting. Cross is scoring a lot better than his win rate suggests and he loves playing Bunting. Voltage is used to facing a hostile crowd, and he did on Sunday when beating Ricardo Pietreczko in the German Darts Grand Prix.

Bunting is the 1.80 favourite, with Cross 2.05. I am happy to sit this one out.

2025 Night 12 Premier League Darts Tip: No Bet

Gerwyn Price vs. Chris Dobey

Dobey was the surprise winner last weekend. It was his first final for ten weeks and suddenly he is just three points off the playoff places. Obviously, he can’t afford to lose matches, but with MVG and Price having stalled in recent weeks, he has been allowed back into contention. Dobey has won seven of his last ten matches and is playing well again, being more consistent.

Gerwyn Price must be getting frustrated. He has lost five of his last ten matches despite firing in big averages match after match. He has won three Players Championship titles in 2025, which is hard to do, but he just isn’t getting much luck on stage. The Iceman has now lost eight of his last ten stage matches.

Their H2H record is very strong for Price at 17-3, but Dobey has won two of their last four. In the PL it is 6-1 to Price.

Price is the 1.79 favourite, Dobey 2.20. This could be a bit of a coin toss, and maybe the best approach is to go for a close match.

2025 Night 12 Premier League Darts Tip: 1 point over 9.5 legs @ 1.95 with Hills

I will have one more small bet on the nightly winner. Van Gerwen is yet to win one but in the last three years, since this format was established, he has won a total of ten, and never less than three per season.

It is a reflection of his poor form in 2025 that he has only reached one final, but maybe his Euro Tour title win on Monday night, and the fact that he played very well, will be the spark he needs. His odds are certainly interesting.
