2025 Night 13 Premier League Darts Preview

This Thursday the PL circus heads to Birmingham. James Punt, fresh from tipping up Schindler at 25/1, is hoping he can get back into the black in the PL this week after generating a small profit last week. Check out his 2025 Night 13 Premier League Darts preview below.

Night 12 Reflections

At least Night 12 produced two winners and a +1.70 profit, thanks to MVG’s remarkable comeback against Luke Littler. That leaves the running tally at -4.27.

This week the Premier League roadshow comes from Birmingham and with four more qualifying nights to come, we still have no one ruled out of making the playoffs.

The two Lukes look safe enough, with Littler four points clear of Humphries at the top. Gerwyn Price is third on twenty points, Aspinall and MVG on seventeen, Cross on fourteen, Dobey twelve and Bunting on eight.

It is getting close to the last chance saloon for Bunting, and Dobey and Cross need to make some real impact if they are to make it through, but MVG, Aspinall and Price are all far from secure.

Luke Littler vs. Stephen Bunting

Bunting was a bit too tense on home ground in Liverpool last weekend and he drew a blank. He is all but out, but not just yet. The Bullet has lost four of his last six matches overall, but he did beat Luke Littler in Rotterdam two weeks ago. He has hit six ton plus averages in this last ten matches and he remains a dangerous opponent.

Luke Littler is playing a dangerous game. He was goading the Liverpool crowd last week and telling them to bring on the boos. They did and he lost a five leg lead, going down 6-5 to MVG and ended up looking a bit of a chump.

His relationship with the crowds is not going so well. He hates the Germans, isn’t too keen on the Dutch and Liverpool is now enemy territory. Birmingham? He should be OK, but if the crowd want a pantomime villain to pick on, he is putting himself in the crosshairs.

Littler’s recent form sees five defeats from his last ten matches overall. Of his last six PL matches, he has lost four. He B-game is still very good, but against these guys, he is risking losing matches.

Their H2H record is 4-3 to Littler and in the PL, it is 2-1.

This is a free hit for both players. Littler is all but home and hosed, Bunting all but out. If both play with freedom, we could get a cracker. Four of their seven matches have gone to a decider, and all Bunting’s wins have required a decider. Either Littler will show up with his A-game and smash Bunting up, or we get a close one.

Nathan Aspinall vs. Chris Dobey

The injured Asp has lost four of his last five matches, but he managed a 104 average in a 3-6 loss to Luke Humphries last Thursday. He then went to Austria and lost 2-6 to Kevin Doets and averaged just 91. On the whole, his recent form is not good, and at best, inconsistent. He will try his very best to make the playoffs but if he is not fully fit, it isn’t going to help.

Chris Dobey also went to Austria last weekend and played some really good stuff. He averaged 106 in a quarter final defeat to eventual winner, Martin Schindler. Dobey has now hit seven ton plus averages in his last eight matches. He has won five of his last ten PL matches, which is likely to be too little, too late, but if he plays like he has been doing, he will be hard to beat.

Their H2H record is 9-4 to Aspinall and he has won eight of their last ten. Dobey did win their last match, the semi-final of Night 10, which Dobey went on to win.

On past form, Aspinall is the call. On recent form, Dobey looks hard to resist. The Asp is 2.00, Dobey 1.91.

Luke Humphries vs. Gerwyn Price

Price was in devastating form in Liverpool, averaging over 105 and beating Luke Humphries 6-4 in the final. It was a reminder that he is up there with the two Lukes when he is on it. That was his third nightly win, but they have been well spread out. He backed his other two nightly wins up by losing his next two quarter finals. Price has won seven of his last ten matches and is in great shape.

Humphries has won six of his last ten but he will be getting frustrated that he is not stringing enough wins together. You have to go back to mid-March to find when he last won more than three matches in a row. For a world number one, that is not great.

He has gone eight weeks without a nightly win and he has not won a title of any description since the World Masters back in February.

Rested

Humphries has been moderating his schedule of late and didn’t travel to Austria for the Euro Tour this weekend, but neither did Price. Cool hand opened up with a 113.50 average last Thursday, beating Aspinall 6-3, he then beat MVG 6-4 before averaging 102.64 in a 4-6 loss to Price in the final.

He isn’t playing badly, but he is missing a little bit of consistency. It is more of a lack of confidence. We are seeing far too much head shaking, which is a sign of frustration.

Their H2H record is 11-10 to Price, and this is a real rivalry. In this year’s PL it is 2-2, but last year it was 3-0 to Luke. Four of their last five meetings have seen over 9.5 legs.

Rob Cross vs. Michael van Gerwen

What can you make of a player who has hit seven 96+ averages in his last ten matches but lost seven of them. That averaged 110.15 in one match and lost. That has a seasonal average of 97.52, but a win rate of just 56%. This is the enigma that is Rob Cross. It is logical to think that he is due a good run, that he will win titles, but the big question is, when?

MVG is a fellow traveller. His 2025 win rate is just 55%, but it is trending upwards. His seasonal average is 97.56 and he has won seven of his last ten matches. He still hasn’t won a PL night in 2025 and is outside the top four places on leg difference.

MVG did win the German Darts Grand Prix less than two weeks ago and it was much more like the old MVG. He needs to bring that mentality to the remaining PL nights.

H2H

Their H2H record is 29-13 to MVG, but it is Rob Cross who has won their last three in a row, including a 6-5 win in their only PL meeting this year. In their last six PL matches played in 2025 and 2024, Cross has won four from six. Four of those were over 9.5 legs.

There is only one thing between the two on recent form. MVG is winning matches, and Cross isn’t. Their recent H2H record actually points in the direction of Rob Cross. Six of their last eight best of eleven leg matches have been over 9.5 legs and given how they are both scoring, you would have to suspect this will be another tight encounter.

MVG is the 1.67 favourite, Cross 2.35. It is hard to pick a winner, but another close match would be no surprise.
