2025 Night 16 Premier League Darts Preview

We head north to the Steel City of Sheffield for this week’s instalment of PL Darts. James Punt is on the job, check out his 2025 Night 16 Premier League Darts preview below.

Night 15 Reflections

Night 15 was another frustrating night for our bets. One winner and two losses. The Littler Humphries match was ridiculous and looked like going to the wire, but as with all these first to six leg matches, they can change in an instant and Littler won it 6-3.

It was a small -0.60 point loss overall. Meaning the running tally is -3.42 points. Hopefully we can put a dent in that in the final night of the league stage before next week’s play offs.

Night 16 comes from Sheffield and with everything just about decided, there is a bit of an end of term feeling about the night’s matches. Littler, Humphries and Price are all confirmed finalists. Price cannot finish higher than third, which means he will play Luke Humphries in the semi-finals if he stays in third, as Littler cannot be caught at the top of the table.

Aspinall

Aspinall won last week’s night and he is tied on 24 points with Price, with the Welshman leading on leg difference. If it stays like that, Price plays Humphries and The Asp would play Littler. It is a case of Hobson’s choice, but Aspinall has a poor record vs. Littler (1-13) and I guess he would rather finish third and play Humphries (9-13).

Price has a decent record against Littler (7-6) and maybe he is less bothered, while Aspinall would really not want to face Littler until the final, if at all.

MVG has a mathematical chance, but he needs to win the night and beat Aspinall in the quarter final. That is the match of the week, a repeat of last week’s quarter final, which Aspinall won 6-3.

Luke Littler vs. Stephen Bunting

A completely dead rubber for Littler. Win or lose, he finishes top. Bunting is playing for position. He could overtake Cross and/or Dobey if he wins the night and he might as well give it a go. This will be a bit of an exhibition night for Littler so expect nine darter attempts and some more showbiz darts.

Bunting has lost seven of his last ten matches, but he has won four of his last ten PL matches, including a 6-5 win over Littler, and a 5-6 loss to Littler.

Their H2H record is 5-3 to Littler, but in the PL it is 3-1. Last year Littler played bottom of the league Peter Wright in Night 16 and won that 6-4. This might just be a bit of fun for both and I’ll go for another overs match.

2025 Night 16 Premier League Darts Tip: 1 point over 9.5 legs @ 2.30 generally available

Michael van Gerwen vs. Nathan Aspinall

The only match that really means anything. MVG has to do what he has failed to do so far in 2025 and that is to win a nightly title. If he does that, he qualifies and Aspinall is out. That is a lot of pressure for Van Gerwen.

They played each other last week and Aspinall won 6-3 and went on to beat Bunting and Dobey to get all five points and put himself in pole position to make the playoffs. It was a strange night and even stranger that The Asp won, playing quite modest darts. He is not in top form, but he wants to make the finals and he will give 100%.

MVG looks a shadow of his former self, in terms of results. His confidence is at an all-time low and he just can’t seem to find a way to win. He has now lost five matches in a row and his scoring is starting to tail off. He was losing with decent averages, now his is playing more like a regular pro tour player. His throwing action has changed and he is toiling.

Their overall H2H record is 20-11 to MVG but Aspinall has won their last three and in this year’s PL it is 4-1 to Aspinall. You would have expected Aspinall to be the favourite but it is MVG who is 1.83, with Aspinall 2.00.

2025 Night 16 Premier League Darts Tip: 1 point Nathan Aspinall to win @ 2.00 generally available

Luke Humphries vs. Rob Cross

A dead rubber for Humphries as he will finish second in the league table regardless of the night’s results. Rob Cross is playing for prize money. He could finish anywhere between eighth and sixth, so a ten grand swing.

It has been another disappointing PL campaign for Cross. He has lost eight of his last ten PL matches and is 1-2 against Humphries in this year’s PL. Overall, their H2H record is 14-11 to Rob Cross. In last year’s PL they ended up 2-2, so a chance for history to repeat itself?

Humphries was the loser in ‘the greatest PL match of all time’ last week. Cool Hand averaged 110 in a 3-6 defeat which saw Litter average 116. Between them they hit fourteen 180s. It was so ridiculous, it broke Sky TV. Hopefully tonight they can get through the whole broadcast tonight without it crashing.

Humphries has won six of his last ten PL matches, hitting six ton plus averages.

Their three PL matches this season have produced twenty four 180s at a rate of 0.80 per leg, with Cross hitting the most twice.

Humphries is the 1.50 favourite to win the match, Cross 2.75. I can’t argue with those odds but I will take a chance with another match with a lot of maximums.

2025 Night 16 Premier League Darts Tip: 1 point over 5.50 180s @ 2.30 with Ladbrokes

Gerwyn Price vs. Chris Dobey

Price usually bosses Dobey. He is 18-3 in front in their overall H2H record . He has won their last three matches, but Dobey has won two of their last five.

They have played eight matches in the PL in this format. Price has won seven. He has won four of them 6-2, including the last two. They have exchanged a lot of 180s in their three matches this year, a total of twenty at a rate of 0.77 per leg.

2025 Night 16 Premier League Darts Tip: 0.5 point Gerwyn Price to win 6-2 @ 9.00 with Livescorebet
2025 Night 16 Premier League Darts Tip: 1 point over 6.5 180s @ 2.17 with Unibet
