2025 Night 7 Premier League Darts Preview

This Thursday’s action comes from Cardiff in Wales, can Gerwyn Price make home advantage count? Check out James Punt’s 2025 Night 7 Premier League Darts preview below.

Night 6 Reflections

Night 6 saw another small profit with two winners from three bets, giving us an 0.81 point profit, bring the PL running tally to +3.86. Taking little but often to new heights.

Night 7 comes from Cardiff and a rare chance for Gerwyn Price to play in front of a home crowd and the one venue where he will be the crowd favourite. Price was runner up last year and won it in 2023.

He lost in the first round in 2022, but the home crowd still got a Welsh winner in the shape of Jonny Clayton. Three years with this mini tournament format, and the three finals have had a Welshman in the final, and the home fans have had two home winners. Price is an 8.50 shot to win this time.

All but one of the players did not travel to Germany for the two Players Championship events on Monday and Tuesday.

Only Michael van Gerwen went and probably wished he hadn’t bothered as he lost his first round match on Monday 3-6 to Nico Springer. It was a poor match, with both averaging under 90. MVG looked very frustrated that he couldn’t beat someone who was there for the taking. Van Gerwen didn’t play on Tuesday.

Chris Dobey vs. Stephen Bunting

The big question here is, will Dobey be energized by his beloved Newcastle United winning the League Cup on Sunday? They beat Bunting’s beloved Liverpool, which is an interesting sub plot.

Away from the football distraction, these two players are propping up the table. Bunting remains winless from the first six nights, Dobey has lost his last five PL matches in a row.

Bunting wasn’t great in his first two matches, but in the last four weeks he has hit three ton plus averages and a 97 and still lost the lot. There is not a lot wrong with his game, but the fact that he is on zero points will be boring a big hole in his confidence. He will know that this should be his best chance to finally get a point on the board.

Poor Form

Dobey is averaging a couple of points less and has a lower checkout rate. Dobey is in poor form, losing seven of his last ten matches, but one of his rare wins, was against Bunting at the UK Open.

Bunting won a couple of matches on the Euro Tour a couple of weeks ago and reached the quarter final of PC6 after that. It wasn’t enough to inspire him to win last Thursday’s quarter final against Gerwyn Price, which he lost 4-6 despite averaging 102.

Their H2H record is 11-4 to Dobey and on TV 2-2.

Inspired By Magpies?

Bunting is playing better than Dobey, but Dobey knows he usually beats Bunting. He will be on cloud nine after going to Wembley to see Newcastle lift the cup on Sunday. Inspiration by association?

Their H2H matches have no real pattern, it could be a short match, it could be close. It is an important match for both players’ sanity and credibility. Bunting is the 1.80 favourite, Dobey the 2.00 outsider. I don’t think there is any value in either player.

In their last five best of eleven leg matches, they have a combined 180 per leg rate of 0.79. If we get something similar and a modest nine legs expected, an over bet on 6.5 looks worth backing. Dobey is ranked 5th for 180s per leg over the last 12 months, Bunting 12th.

Luke Humphries vs. Michael van Gerwen

Humphries has not picked up any points in the last two weeks and has lost the lead in the table to Luke Littler. Overall, he has won seven of his last ten matches and there is not much wrong with his game.

MVG is not playing with any self-belief. He is losing to players he should be rolling over and he is very low in confidence. His brief excursion into Germany on Monday will not have helped.

Their H2H record is 14-14, but Humphries has won nine of their last ten. They have met once in this PL and that was on Night 1 and Humphries won 6-5. In last year’s PL it was 5-1 to Humphries.

Cool Hand is the 1.57 favourite, MVG the 2.60 outsider. I can’t argue with those odds. Humphries has won three of their last six best of eleven leg matches 6-3, and the way MVG is playing, three legs might be optimistic.

Luke Littler vs. Nathan Aspinall

Littler is looking after himself by skipping both the Players Championship events in midweek and the European Darts Open this weekend. You can do that when you have won so much already during the season.

Aspinall’s big problem here is that he just can’t live with Littler. He is not alone in that, but the normally positive Aspinall is intimidated by The Nuke.

Their H2H record is now 10-1 to Littler. They have played eight matches in the PL and it is 7-1 to Littler. They have played in two already in 2025 and Littler won them 6-2 and 6-3. Both matches were played in the last three weeks.

Littler is the 1.17 favourite, Aspinall 5.00.

Their two matches so far have produced fourteen 180s from just sixteen legs.

2025 Night 7 Premier League Darts Tip: 1 point over 6.5 180s @ 1.73 with Betfair

Gerwyn Price vs. Rob Cross

A big night for Price in front of his home fans. He played very well to win last week, beating Bunting, MVG and Littler. That bumped him up into the top three in the league, and he will be looking to make it back to back nightly wins in Cardiff. He has won seven of his last ten matches, and while not at 100% due to occasional doubling meltdowns, he should be hard to beat.

Rob Cross has won five of his last ten matches and his form remains impossible to read. There are few better scorers, but his conversion rate is poor given his scoring.

Their H2H record is 14-11 to Price. They have not met in this year’s PL so far. In 2024 it was 2-1 to Price.

Iceman Fav

Price is the 1.80 favourite, Cross 2.00. Fair enough, but maybe home advantage makes Price a shorter priced favourite. I am still not betting on Rob Cross matches.

However, I am happy to back Price to win Night 7. His first match is tough, and he will meet Littler in the semi-final should he beat Cross, but he is now 7-4 vs. Littler and it is Price who has won their last six matches in a row and he is 4-1 in all of their PL matches.

Of course, this means that Cross will play a blinder to beat Price, before going down tamely to Littler, but I’ll stick with the Welshman on home soil angle.

2025 Night 7 Premier League Darts Tip: 1 point Gerwyn Price to win Night 7 @ 8.5 generally available
