2025 PC Finals Sunday Preview

Now, it is time for James Punt’s 2025 PC Finals Sunday preview. Our ante-post selections are performing well, hopefully our quarter winner bets get the win this afternoon.

R3 Reflections

Day 2 was a bloodbath. -6.07 points dropped but the good news is that all three of our ante post bets are still going. We just need Wattimena and Rock to win their quarter finals and we are in clover, and who is going to stop Luke Littler winning the title now? It will be a quiet day’s punting, but hopefully a profitable one.

Gerwyn Price vs. Daryl Gurney

Once upon a time this was a big rivalry. When asked about playing his old foe, Gerwyn Price said he was ready and had packed his boxing gloves. I don’t think he will need them. First of all, they are quite pally these days, and they are not rivals anymore. Price is still an elite player, Gurney has joined the comfortable in the top 32 club.

Gurney required Adam Lipscombe to miss eleven match darts before he fell over the finish line to win 10-9. It was a case of ‘Call the Cops, there’s been a robbery!’ Gurney’s tournament average is just 90.7 and he has been lucky enough to face players playing worse than him.

Big Gap

Gerwyn Price is averaging 98.01 and the gap between the two players is fairly represented by the gap in their tournament averages. Price has won seven of his last ten matches and is in good form. Gurney has lost six of his last ten and is playing poorly.

We have seen some strange results in this tournament, but Gurney beating Price would take the biscuit. Their H2H record is 14-6 to Price, with four Premier League draws.

However, Gurney did beat Price at the European Championships last month. Price was 17% on the doubles, and if he does have a weakness, that is it. In their last best of nineteen leg match, Price won 10-7 at the World Matchplay. Price also won their penultimate best of nineteen leg match 10-4 at the 2023 Matchplay.

Price is the 1.22 favourite, Gurney 4.50. I can’t see any value in this match. You never know, Price might have a doubling meltdown, or Gurney might find his A game, but it just seems very unlikely. No bet.

2025 PC Finals Sunday Tip: No Bet

Luke Littler vs. Chris Dobey

Dobey should have lost to Cam Crabtree, but he had no worries when beating James Hurrell 10-5 last night. He was all happy because Newcastle got a lucky win against the mighty Manchester City. I expect he will be brought back down to earth with a bang today.

Littler was just playing silly buggers against Pietreczko last night. He was mimicking Pickachu’s throw and wasn’t even out of first gear in a 10-6 win and another ton plus average. Littler has a tournament average of 104.76.

Their H2H record is 3-3, which is a surprise. Dobey is a good player, but a complete bottle job. He will enjoy being the big outsider at 5.50. He has played thirteen ranking major quarter finals and lost eight. I expect that to be extended to nine, but it is not really a betting match. There are just no signs of any weaknesses in Littler’s game right now. No bet.

2025 PC Finals Sunday Tip: No Bet

Nathan Aspinall vs. Josh Rock

This looks much more competitive. Rock is averaging 98.37 and after an underwhelming 6-3 win over Clemens, he has played very well, and has been good on the doubles, as like Price, that is where he can go wrong.

The Asp has been threatening a good run in a Major for a while. His tournament average is 95.87 and he has been very consistent around that level so far. He beat the very in-form Danny Noppert 10-8 last night and deserved to do so. That tells us that Rock is going to have to be at his very best here.

Rock had to work hard to beat Ratajski 10-8 last night and while he averaged 99.67, he will need to be better today. Aspinall has won a Major championship in this arena and has good memories to draw upon.

Their H2h record is 4-1 to Rock and on TV 4-0. They played a UK Open match here last year and Rock won that 10-7. I’d be delighted with a repeat, but this one looks likely to be close.

Rock is the 1.73 favourite, Aspinall 2.25. I will opt for an overs match.

2025 PC Finals Sunday Tip: 1 point over 16.5 legs @ 1.80 with Betfred

James Wade vs. Jermaine Wattimena

We are on Wattimena to win the quarter and he has played very well so far, averaging 100.53. It was only a 94.09 against Searle last night and he will need to do better than that against the old pro that is James Wade.

Wade will play slow, not giving Wattimena the pace he enjoys. Wade’s tournament average is just 91.42 but he was poor on his doubles against Gilding last night, so I expect a better performance today. Wade’s success has never been built around heavy scoring in any case.

H2H

Their H2H record is 11-7 to Wade, but Wattimena has won their last three, including two on TV. He beat Wade 10-9 in last year’s European Championship and knocked Wade out of the World Championship with a 3-0 win last December. Their last three matches were of the highest quality and Wattimena still came through, which shows how much he has improved in the last year or so.

We are effectively om Wattimena at 7.00 to win this match so there is no need to get involved. We could take cover and back Wade at 2.20 and I will keep the faith, but I will back this being a close match.

2025 PC Finals Sunday Tip: 1 point over 16.5 legs @ 1.85 with Boylesports

That is all for me this week. The next darts preview will be for the big one, the World Championship, starting on the 11th of December. There will be a whopping big preview a day or two before it starts. Who do you think I will be tipping? Indeed, is there any need for a whopping big preview?
