2025 Swiss Darts Trophy R2 Preview
James Punt’s 2025 Swiss Darts Trophy R2 betting preview is below. It was a tough session for us last night, fingers crossed for a better day today.
Ryan Searle vs. Niels Zonneveld
Zonneveld was less than impressive in his 6-3 win over Dalibor Šmolík yesterday. Better doubling from the Czech and we would have had a different result.
Searle, runner up here last year, has won six of his eight matches against Zonneveld. In 2025 it is 1-1 and it was Zonneveld who beat Searle 6-1 in the Austrian Darts Open, but that was avenged by a 6-1 win for Searle in PC27 less than three weeks ago.
Of their eight previous matches, six have been under 9.5 legs.
2025 Swiss Darts Trophy R2 Tip: 1 point Ryan Searle to win -1.5 legs @ 1.91 with Ladbrokes
2025 Swiss Darts Trophy R2 Tip: 1 point under 9.5 legs @ 1.80 generally available
Dave Chisnall vs. Luke Woodhouse
Woodhouse beat Lukas Wenig 6-5 yesterday and it was what is now becoming a typical Woodhouse Euro Tour performance. He started slowly, looked in bother, but fell over the line to win. He has lost half of his second-round matches, or indeed won half of them, in 2025.
Dave Chisnall has lost five of his ten matches and has lost his last eight Euro Tour matches. His last win was back in April. Also, in Europe, he played Luke Woodhouse in ET3 and won that 6-2.
Overall, their H2H record is 8-4 to Chisnall and he is 2-0 vs. Woodhouse in 2025.
This is an interesting matchup. My gut feeling is that Chisnall loses again. He is a much-diminished player these days, but Woodhouse isn’t playing as well as he was in the first half of the year.
You can back Chisnall at 2.00 and Woodhouse at 2.05, which is rare, but both players look very beatable and as such, it is a no bet for me.
2025 Swiss Darts Trophy R2 Tip: No Bet
Peter Wright vs. Cor Dekker
Another interesting matchup. Like Chisnall, Wright is a diminished player these days. He has his moments but on the whole, he is struggling. Snakebite has lost eight of his last ten matches and on the Euro Tour, he has lost four of his last five matches.
His last seven match averages in Europe have been 82.62, 91.56, 92.00, 74.62, 83.24, 95.98 and 82.95. One good performance in seven.
Cor Dekker beat Andrew Gilding 6-3 yesterday. It was a very ordinary game of darts with both players averaging 88. It is also very close to Dekker’s seasonal average. He is an OK player, he has his moments, but he is not great.
The question is, can Dekker catch Wright on an off day? Those off days are increasingly common.
Cor Dekker’s record on the Euro Tour is sparse. He has played two matches in 2025 and won one. Overall, in his five previous Euro Tour appearances, he has only made the second round once, and he lost that match.
Wright is the 1.80 favourite, Dekker 2.25. My gut says back Dekker, but my head says there is no value in the odds. No bet.
2025 Swiss Darts Trophy R2 Tip: No Bet
Ross Smith vs. Ritchie Edhouse
Ross Smith has pulled out and Edhouse now gets a bye into round three. That means he is guaranteed £4000 and that lifts him to 31st in the European Championship OOM. However, Chisnall, O’Connor and Ratajski are right on his tail. Edhouse faces the winner of the Barney vs. Heta match tomorrow.
2025 Swiss Darts Trophy R2 Tip: No Bet
Mike de Decker vs. Krzysztof Ratajski
Ratajski will noy be happy that he has to play De Decker for his chance to get into the third round, while one of his rivals for a place in the European Championship gets a bye. The Polish Eagle masterfully beat off Bates 6-0 in the first round yesterday. It was an OK performance as Bates was poor, but A 6-0 win does no harm to a player’s confidence.
Ratajski has won five of his last ten matches and he is not playing with any sort of consistency.
Mike De Decker has won five of his last ten matches and much like Ratajski, he is not a consistent player. On the Euro Tour he has played in eleven second round matches and lost seven. When he has played in a first-round match, he lost seven from nine second round matches.
Second Match Struggles
When he has come in at the second round stage he has played two and lost one. He is a better player in his first match played than in his second. If he wins this, he can be opposed tomorrow. But can he win this one?
Their H2H record is 3-2 to Ratajski. De Decker has won the last two but they have only met once in the last three years. Their last match was in 2024, on the Euro Tour, and De Decker won that 6-5.
Mike Decker is the 1.80 favourite with Ratajski 2.25. I can’t pick a winner, but it does have the look of a close match.
2025 Swiss Darts Trophy R2 Tip: 1 point over 9.5 legs @ 1.91 with Ladbrokes
Rob Cross vs. Richard Veenstra
Squeaky bum time for Cross who remains outside of the European Championship qualifying list. A win here and he is provisionally in. Lose and it all comes down to ET14 in three weeks’ time. Cross has won five of his last ten matches and on the Euro Tour, he has won five of his eight second round matches.
Veenstra beat Niko Springer 6-5 last night, despite Springer being the better player. Veenstra has won seven of his last ten matches, but on the Euro Tour he has lost his two previous second round matches. He has only reached the third round once in fifteen previous Euro Tour matches.
Their H2H record is 2-1 to Veenstra, which is a surprise but Cross won their only stage match 6-3 in a World Series match back in January.
Cross is the 1.35 favourite, Veenstra 3.75. Cross -1.5 legs is only 1.60 and while I think he wins this, I hate betting on Cross. I always get him wrong. No bet.
2025 Swiss Darts Trophy R2 Tip: No Bet
Gian van Veen vs. Dirk van Duijvenbode
We are on Van Veen outright and I can only hope that he just gets a break. There is nobody playing as well as Van Veen but also losing so many games. He has never beaten Dirk in four previous matches.
Dirk beat Jitse Van der Wal 6-2 last night. It was a poor match with both players averaging 89. Dirk has lost five of his last ten matches. Half saw sub 90 averages, including the last four in a row.
Van Veen is the 1.60 favourite and I am going to take the chance that he finally gets the better of Van Duijvenbode and does so in style.
2025 Swiss Darts Trophy R2 Tip: 1 point Gian Van Veen to win -1.5 legs @ 2.10 with Boylesports
Danny Noppert vs. William O’Connor
O’Connor smashed Daryl Gurney 6-1 in the final match last night. It was a good match, both scored well, but it was easy for O’Connor who for once, looks to have a bit of faith in his abilities.
He has a clear target, to win and qualify for two Major Championships. The reality is that he needs to win this and win his third round match. The pressure builds but he is great form, winning 11 of his last 13 matches. He has only played three second round Euro Tour matches in 2025 and lost two of them.
Noppert picked up another nice cheque last weekend, but didn’t win the tile, yeah, losing 7-8 to Niko Springer, yeah. He has won seven of his last ten matches and won half of his twelve second round matches in 2025, winning six of his last eight.
Their H2H record is 7-3 to Noppert. Their last two matches saw a 4-0 win for Noppert at this year’s World Masters, and O’Connor won 6-0 in a Players Championship match in late 2024.
Noppert is the 1.80 favourite, O’Connor 2.25. Of their six best of eleven leg matches, five have been over 9.5 legs.
