2025 Swiss Darts Trophy Saturday Preview
James Punt’s 2025 Swiss Darts Trophy Saturday betting preview is below. He fired in a fabulous full house with five winner from five bets this afternoon, hopefully more of the same follows.
James Wade vs. Ryan Joyce
Joyce beat a local qualifier 6-0 yesterday. It was merely a practice match for Relentless and this will be a much more challenging match. Joyce has won five of his last ten matches but lost his last four second round matches on the Euro Tour. Seven of his last eight matches have seen him average under 90.
James Wade has been racking up a lot of wins on the Euro Tour. He has won eleven of his last fifteen Euro Tour matches and won his last five second round matches in a row.
Their H2H record is 5-2 to Wade. They have only met once in the last three years and that was 6-3 win for Wade back in March.
Wade is the 1.53 favourite and deservedly so.
2025 Swiss Darts Trophy Saturday Tip: 1 point James Wade to win -1.5 legs @ 1.87 with Betvictor
Martin Schindler vs. Ricardo Pitreczko
Pikachu played quite well in his 6-3 win over Oskar Lukasiak. He has won just four of his last ten matches and lost seven of his ten second round matches in 2024.
Schindler, the defending champion, has very positive mental associations with this venue. He has won seven of his last ten matches but is lacking the kind of consistency needed to win titles right now. He has won ten of his twelve second round matches, but one that he lost was to Ricardo Pietreczko. That was a 4-6 loss in the European Darts Open in June.
Overall, their H2H record is a surprising 3-2 to Pietreczko, so clearly Pikachu gets under Schindler’s skin. Schindler is the German number 1 but he has been second best to Pietreczko too often.
Two of Pietreczko’s wins came on the Euro Tour, and it has been where he plays his best stuff. Schindler did beat Ricardo 6-0 on the Euro Tour last year so he can dish it out.
Schindler is the 1.50 favourite, Pietreczko 2.75. I can’t argue with those odds. No bet.
2025 Swiss Darts Trophy Saturday Tip: No Bet
Josh Rock vs. Jermaine Wattimena
Wattimena beat the Swiss number 1, Stefan Bellmont, 6-1 last night. He played OK, but nothing more. Wattimena has won five of his last ten matches and he has been blowing hot and cold.
Josh Rock’s Euro Tour form recently has been excellent and is only missing a title won. His last three events have seen form figures of RU/RU/SF. He takes some beating.
Their H2H record is 4-4. On the Euro Tour 2-0 to Rock, including a 6-1 win three weeks ago. That match saw Rock average 110, Wattimena 107.
Rock is the 1.40 favourite, Wattimena 3.40. I will take Rock on the handicap.
2025 Swiss Darts Trophy Saturday Tip: 1 point Josh Rock to win -1.5 legs @ 1.67 with Boylesports, Betfred
Luke Humphries vs. Callan Rydz
Rydz looked quite happy when beating, nae thrashing, Conor Scutt 6-1 yesterday. It was a 100.47 average and when Rydz is happy, he can play top level darts. He has won eight of his last ten matches.
Rydz has played Humphries eight times and they are 4-4. However, Humphries has won their last three matches. Three of Rydz’ wins were at junior level and it is fair to say that their career paths have diverged.
Humphries is the 1.33 favourite, Rydz 3.40. Normally this would be an easy win for Humphries, but when Rydz has a positive mental frame of mind, he can beat anyone and Humphries will have to take control early or he could be in for trouble.
2025 Swiss Darts Trophy Saturday Tip: 1 point Callan Rydz to win +2.5 legs @ 1.80 with Betfred
Jonny Clayton vs. Nathan Aspinall
The Asp did his first round thing again, winning 6-0. Now he mustn’t do what he has done for the last three Euro Tours and lose his second round match. He is playing well enough to have a deep run but he needs to get past this second round hoodoo.
Jonny Clayton has had a couple of weeks off but before his mini break he had won six of his last ten matches and was playing every bit as well as Aspinall.
Their H2H record is 6-6 to Aspinall and he has won their last four. They played a match on the Euro Tour last year and Aspinall averaged 113.14 in a 6-2 win.
Clayton is the 1.73 favourite, Aspinall 2.20. We are on Aspinall outright and that is enough interest in this tricky match for me. No bet.
2025 Swiss Darts Trophy Saturday Tip: No Bet
Damon Heta vs. Raymond van Barneveld
Heta is on my cold list with six losses from his last ten matches. He isn’t playing badly, but he is struggling to get the wins. Three of his six defeats were 5-6. Heta has lost half of his second round matches on the Euro Tour in 2025.
Barney’s 6-3 win over a local qualifier last night sees him provisionally into the European Championship qualifier list, but he still needs to reach the quarter finals to qualify for the Grand Prix, and even that may not be enough. RVB has won six of his last ten matches but he does find stringing wins together difficult due to his lack of consistency.
Their H2H record is a fairly comprehensive 5-1 to Heta, but Barney won their last match, back in April. Both of their matches in 2025 ended 6-2 but before that there were two 6-4s and two 6-5s.
Heta is the 1.44 favourite and Barney 3.00. Heta is the better player but Barney is very motivated and has been throwing in the odd excellent performance. Heta will be lacking a bit of confidence and this is a no bet for me.
2025 Swiss Darts Trophy Saturday Tip: No bet
Stephen Bunting vs. Chris Landman
Bunting may have come off the boil a little in recent weeks, but this should be pretty straightforward for him.
Landman averaged 90 in a 6-3 win over a local qualifier last night. He has won four of his last ten matches and he has lost both his matches with Bunting 2-7 and 2-6, both last year.
2025 Swiss Darts Trophy Saturday Tip: 0.5 point Bunting to win 6-2 @ 4.75 with SpreadEx
Chris Dobey vs. Mensur Suljovic
Suljovic made sure his trip wasn’t fruitless with a 6-2 win over Martin Lukeman in a very underwhelming match. He has won six of his last ten matches but rarely catches the eye these days.
Chris Dobey reached the giddy heights of a Euro Tour quarter final last weekend, his fourth of the season. He has won five of his last ten matches and is showing the customary lack of consistency, but his good stuff is very good.
Their H2H record is 6-4 to Dobey and he has won four of their last five.
Dobey is the 1.36 favourite, Suljovic 3.25. Suljovic will not give Dobey the pace of play he likes and that may frustrate him, but Dobey should win. The odds are not of any interest and even at -1.5 legs Dobey is just 1.67. I’ll leave this one alone.
