2025 WCOD Friday Evening Preview & Tips – JP
2025 WCOD Friday Evening Preview
James Punt got off to a scorching start at the World Cup of Darts with winners at 2.28 and 3.10 from two bets. His 2025 WCOD Friday Evening previews and tips are below.
France vs. Sweden
We are effectively on Sweden at 2.38 to beat France as we backed the Swedes to win the group. They should do it.

Czech Republic vs. India
The Czechs are the 1.14 favourites to see off India. The Sedlacek – Petr Křivka line up was pretty good in their 4-2 win over Taipei. It was not an easy match and they had to dig deep but they got the job done against a couple of decent opponents. Taipei beat India 4-2 earlier today, despite some amazing miscounting. They should have won 4-0, and so should the Czechs.
2025 WCOD Friday Evening Tip: 0.5 point Czech Republic to win 4-0 @ 4.00 with Betfair, Skybet
Japan vs. Switzerland
Japan beat Croatia 4-3 last night. It could have gone either way but our selection to win the group got it over the line. As with the first match of the night, we are effectively on Japan at 4.00 to win this as they are our selection to win the group. Switzerland lost 3-4 to Croatia earlier today and this will not be easy for Japan, but they are the 1.56 favourites to win and hopefully they can.

Republic of Ireland vs. China
We got to see China play today and they were as poor as expected. Lihao Wen did have a couple of nice check outs but they could only average 74.31 in the match. Ireland beat Gibraltar 4-2 last night. It was a good performance and they should find China easier opponents. Ireland are the 1.13 favourites but I’ll back them to give the Chinese a spanking.
2025 WCOD Friday Evening Tip: 0.5 point Ireland to win 4-0 @ 3.60 with Betfair
Malaysia vs. Denmark
The Danes dumped a disappointing Canadian team out earlier today. It was a 4-1 and they played well enough with an 89 average and 50% on the doubles.
Malaysia were the surprise winners against Canada last night. Canada were poor and Malaysia averaged a respectable 86 to win 4-1.
Denmark are the 1.52 favourites, Malaysia 2.75. There might be some value in Malaysia but I don’t have a strong opinion on this one. No bet.

Hong Kong vs. Bahrain
If Hong Kong do not win this 4-0, questions need to be asked. Bahrain were beyond dreadful earlier, averaging 53 when losing 0-4 to a very poor USA side. If 10-0 was an option, I’d take it. Many firms are not offering correct odds scores for obvious reasons.
2025 WCOD Friday Evening Tip: 1 point Hong Kong to win 4-0 @ 2.62 with Betvictor
Poland vs. Norway
Poland struggled to beat South Africa 4-3 last night but they only need to win this to progress. South Africa beat Norway 4-1 earlier and if we are to land our group bet on South Africa, we are relying on Norway. I don’t fancy our chances.
No bet
Belgium vs. Philippines
We are on the Philippines to win the group and this is a straight play off to see who goes through. If the Philippines win we win 3.5 points. Belgium are the 1.16 favourites, so there isn’t any great way to lay off.
Belgium were good when beating Latvia 4-1 last night, averaging 91.59. The Philippines beat Latvia 4-2 averaging 89.03, so there wasn’t a massive gulf between the two performances. Belgium relied heavily on De Decker last night and he is not the most consistent of players, so we are still in with a chance.

The Netherlands vs. Hungary
The Dutch were very impressive last night, averaging 95.43 in a 4-0 win over Italy. They look to be a good pairing. Italy in turn beat Hungary 4-0 this afternoon with Hungary missing eight doubles.
A 4-0 win for the Dutch looks likely. Noppert and Van Veen are the 1.06 favourites.
2025 WCOD Friday Evening Tip: 1 point The Netherlands to win 4-0 @ 2.70 with Ladbrokes
Germany vs. Singapore
The Germans were Ok in their 4-2 win over Portugal, but they will have to improve if they are to have a deep run. Before that, they have to get past Singapore, who also beat Portugal 4-2.
Germany are 1.18 to win and there isn’t any value there. Singapore will find this more difficult. They are facing a better team and also the home team. I expect Singapore to make it tough.
2025 WCOD Friday Evening Tip: 1 point Singapore to win +2.5 legs @ 1.91 with Boylesports
Austria vs. Australia
This was always going to be the most interesting match of the group stage. Two teams who are tournament specialists. Austria have a new partner for Mensur, but he fitted right in last night, helping Austria to beat Spain 4-1 and averaging 99.38.
Australia also beat Spain, 4-0, and averaged 98.56 this afternoon. Spain were a lot better against Austria. They only averaged 70 this afternoon and 85 last night, but they were not a feature in either match.
The market is making Australia the 1.57 favourites, Austria the 2.63 outsiders. Australia have the world number 10 in their line up, but this is pairs and not Heta vs. Suljovic. It is a shame that one of these teams has to go out so early.
I would say that the value lies with Austria, but I will be greedy and hope that we get the match the tie deserves.
2025 WCOD Friday Evening Tip: 1 point over 6.5 legs @ 3.00 with Ladbrokes, Boylesports
New Zealand vs. Argentina
Nobody knew what to expect from debutants Argentina, but they opened their account with a 180 first throw and ended with an 80 checkout to beat Finland 4-1, averaging a respectable 84.10. Can they keep that up? Will they have mental let down? Very possibly, but they are completely unknown to me.
New Zealand beat Finland 4-0 last night, averaging 85.89, so very little deference in their performances.
New Zealand are the 1.73 favourites and I am happy to sit this one out. No bet.
