2025 York Ebor Meeting Ante-Post E/W Double – DS
2025 York Ebor Meeting Ante-Post E/W Double
The less said about Saturday, the better. Next week we have one of the best flat meetings of the season and Dave Stevos has set his eyes on a 2025 York Ebor Meeting Ante-Post e/w double (and two e/w singles).
Wednesday: 1.50 – Hong Jong Jockey Club Handicap (heritage)
Jim Goldie has had a fabulous season and off a mark of 100, Jordan Electrics may be able to make his presence felt in this 5.5f sprint. Now a 9yo, he isn’t getting any younger but his latest run in the Stewards’ Cup at Goodwood on ground that would have been easy enough for him suggested that he still retains plenty of ability.
He was beaten 4.5l in that race off 102 and the assessor has dropped him to 100. That’s a pound lower than he was when narrowly beaten by Jm Jungle in this race last year. He was conceding 13lb to the then 88 rated winner and he is now rated 112 after winning a G2 at Goodwood for us earlier this month.
Jordan Electrics finished second on his first two visits to York so he likes the track and he is best on fast ground so he should get his favoured conditions. Paul Mulrennan has won seven times on him and he has been booked for the ride. Hopefully he can steer the son of Dandy Man into the frame at odds of 16/1.
2025 York Ebor Meeting e/w double tip: Jordan Electrics e/w @ 16/1
Thursday: 3.00 – Clipper Handicap (Heritage)
One that looks interesting at a nice e/w price here is last year’s runner up, Mirsky. Trained by David O’Meara, a handler who is a dab hand in these heritage handicaps, this son of Siyouni has disappointed the last twice after winning back to back races at Thirsk and Epsom in May/June.
He was hiked up a total of 7lb for those two wins at 7f and 8.5f and he subsequently struggled in the 7f Buckingham Palace at Ascot and the 1m Coral Challenge handicap at Sandown.
A nice 48-day break should have freshened Mirsky up and given how well he ran in this last year, I’d imagine it has been on O’Meara’s radar. He rocks up off the same mark as he did last season and I am hoping that O’Meara claims off him (Warren Fentiman please!). At odds of 20/1, Mirsky is the e/w selection.
