2026 PL Darts Night 2 Preview & Tips – JP
2026 PL Darts Night 2 Preview
The second night of the Premier League of Darts season comes from Antwerp in Belgium. James Punt landed a couple of winners on opening night, his 2026 PL Darts Night 2 preview and tips are below.
2026 PL Darts Night 2
We had two winners from four bets on the opening night, producing a modest +0.55-point profit. For Night 2 we make the PL’s first trip to Antwerp in Belgium (Note – It is an early start if you are watching in the UK/Ireland, with the first match starting at 18.20pm).
Three of the eight players travelled to Hildesheim in Germany for the first two Players Championship events of the year on Monday and Tuesday. Gian Van Veen, Michael van Gerwen and Gerwyn Price made the trip.
It is a shorter journey for the two Dutchmen but Price made the journey from the UK. He is a player who likes to try and get a Players Championship win under his belt early, so that he can cut his schedule later, in the knowledge that he is well set for a place in the finals. The same goes for the European Tour.
It was worth his while, but he just missed out on winning PC2, losing the final 7-8 to Wessel Nijman. MVG made the semi-final but lost that 0-6 to Price, with the Welshman averaging 117.12! Price was on fire in PC2, averaging 105.69 across his seven matches, hitting six ton plus averages and a 97. Van Gerwen won ten of his twelve matches, losing in the semi-finals on both days, while Van Veen won just one first round match.
Luke Littler vs. Luke Humphries
Littler will be looking to get his PL campaign going, having lost 4-6 to Van Veen in the quarter final last week. Facing Luke Humphries makes that a difficult task. Littler has got the better of Humphries in their last four matches, but it was a close call in the recent World Masters final.
A match loss remains a rare thing for Littler. He has won nine of his last ten matches and you have to go back over 40 matches to find the last time he lost two in a row.
Humphries beat Price 6-5 last week, before losing out to MVG. He scored well enough but was just 18% on the doubles. Humphries has lost four of his last six matches and he may be up against it here.
Littler is the better player, but there is not a lot in it. If Humphries can start well, he is in with a chance in this format. Littler is the 1.54 favourite, Humphries 2.75.
They have played seventeen best of eleven leg matches and eleven have been over 9.5 legs. In the PL, eight from twelve have been over. Past form suggests we have a decent chance of a close match.
2026 PL Darts Night 2 Tip: 1 point over 9.5 legs @ 2.00 generally available
Michael van Gerwen vs. Josh Rock
Having backed MVG to come last in the PL, he promptly won Night 1, having not managed to win a single night in 2025. He backed that up with back-to-back semi-finals in the Players Championships earlier this week. His win rate in 2026 is up to 83% from 23 played, and while he is not quite back to his best, he is now in much better form than he has been for some time.
Josh Rock made his PL debut last weekend and lost his opening match 2-6 to Jonny Clayton. It was a 109.81 average from Clayton, so there was no great shame in that result. Rock just has to take that one on the chin and go again.
Josh has won six of his last ten matches and while he hasn’t been as consistent as the very best players, it has taken good performances to beat him. Rock has just been on the end of some very strong performances from opponents. He needs to be patient, as those kind of performances can’t go on forever.
H2H
Rock’s problem is his H2H record with MVG. It is 8-4 to MVG, but Rock did win two of their three matches in 2025. However, MVG was in poor form for much of 2025, and he looks in much better shape right now.
Van Gerwen is the marginal 1.85 favourite, with Rock 2.00. Their last two best of eleven leg matches both ended 6-4, with one win each. I’ll take MVG to edge this one by a similar scoreline.
2026 PL Darts Night 2 Tip: 0.5 point MVG to win 6-4 @ 7.00 with Betfair, Skybet
Jonny Clayton vs. Stephen Bunting
The Ferret got off to a flying start last week, averaging 109 in a 6-2 win over Josh Rock. He then played Gian van Veen, averaged 94.86 and lost 4-6. It was unlikely he would repeat his quarter final performance, but he was a bit disappointing in the semi.
Clayton has won six of his last ten matches and consistency is not his strong suit right now. There are still a lot of low to mid-90 averages, which can get found out at this level, but he will still be hard to beat.
Stephen Bunting lost his opening match 2-6 to MVG last week. He does struggle against MVG and the Dutchman was on his A game. Bunting will be very keen to get a win under his belt, having started his PL so badly last year.
Lacking Consistency
The Bullet has won five of his last ten matches and is playing with even less consistency than Clayton. Three of his last five defeats were against MVG, so he will be pleased to not be facing him again.
Their H2H record is 10-8 to Clayton, but Bunting was 2-1 in 2025.
Bunting has always struggled in the PL, while Clayton has thrived. There might just be a bit more pressure on Bunting to win this. It is very early days in this year’s PL, but Bunting is not in great form and he will not want to start this campaign with back-to-back defeats.
Jonny Clayton is the 1.75 favourite with Bunting 2.20. I make Clayton the favourite too but there is no value in his odds. No bet.
2026 PL Darts Night 2 Tip: No Bet
Gerwyn Price vs. Gian Van Veen
Van Veen was runner up in his debut PL appearance last weekend, while Price lost his opener 5-6 to Luke Humphries. Since then, Price has been in excellent form in the Players Championship earlier this week. If he brings that sort of form, he will be hard to beat. Conversely, Van Veen won just the one match.
Their H2H record is 8-1 to Price. The Welshman has handed out some drubbings to Van Veen and beaten him in three Players Championship finals. Van Veen’s only win vs. Price was a 6-0 win on the European tour last year.
Of their four best of eleven leg matches, none have seen more than eight legs. That is a surprise, but I dare say that Price will fancy his chances here.
Price was the 2.05 outsider, Van Veen 1.91 yesterday, which surprised me. Given their H2H record and the form Price was in earlier in the week, I have him as the favourite. The market has cottoned on to that and Price has shortened into 1.91, with Van Veen on the drift out to 2.00.
