2026 PL Darts Night 3 Preview

The third night of the Premier League of Darts season comes from Glasgow in bonny Scotland. James Punt turned another profit on night 2, his 2026 PL Darts Night 3 preview and tips are below.

2026 PL Darts Night 3

We had a profitable Night 2 with 2.32 points banked. That means the PL account stands at +2.83 so far. Maybe we should just call it quits now?

On Night 3, the roadshow heads to Glasgow. The crowd here can be a bit lively, but with no Scottish players to side with, it is hard to say who will be the fan favourite, and who might get some stick.

Luke Littler may find himself in the crosshairs. He can get himself on the wrong side of crowds, and if he has a go with this lot, he could be in bother. He enjoyed himself here last year, winning the night, hitting a 170, and eleven 180s, so maybe he will be just fine.

Stephen Bunting vs. Gian van Veen

Is it squeaky bum time already for Bunting? Surely not, but having suffered back-to-back losses in the first two nights, the bad PL memories will be haunting him. It was the manner of defeat on Night two which will have hurt Bunting most. He was 4-1 up against Clayton but lost the match 4-6. It was a great rally from Clayton, but Bunting knows he should have won that one.

Bunting reached the final of PC3 on Monday, losing 1-8 to Chris Dobey, and he reached the 4th round on Tuesday. He played well on Monday, but if we look at his last eight matches, he has had four sub 90 averages, so he is lacking consistency, and it is hard to say how he will play.

Ven Veen

Gian van Veen won the Dartpraat Open in the Netherlands last Friday, but once again was less than successful in the Players Championship events on Monday and Tuesday, winning just two first round matches, but he averaged 99 and 102 on Tuesday. He should have beaten Gerwyn Price is last week’s first round match, but that H2H record came back to bite him.

Their H2H record is 6-4 to Bunting and there has been no real pattern to their previous matches. Four required a deciding leg, another four saw under 9.5 legs and a few very one-sided affairs.

Van Veen was too short at 1.44 to win and his odds have drifted to 1.50, still too short. However, it is hard to fancy Bunting at 3.00 given that he is bound to be a bit tight with the prospect of going pointless again. I will go for a close encounter at odds against.

Luke Humphries vs. Josh Rock

Both players went to Wigan for the two Players Championship events earlier this week. Rock won three matches and played some nice stuff, certainly a lot better than his horror show of last Thursday. He blamed that on not being able to grip his dart which was a bit strange, the darts looked like his usual ones. The Ulsterman is still looking for his first PL win, and facing Luke Humphries is not exactly an easy task.

Luke Humphries took the opportunity of having two Players Championship events not too far away from home, to try and rack up some ranking money for the Players Championship finals qualifying race. He reached the third round on Monday and won PC4 on Tuesday, playing some good stuff, as he usually does.

Rock Poor On Monday

Rock was poor on Monday, averaging sub 90 over two matches, and after hitting two ton plus averages on Tuesday, he went out to Zonneveld in round three. He has lost five of his last ten matches and is not playing with any great consistency.

Humphries is in better form and Rock will need his A game if he is to get his first points on the board. Their H2H record is 4-3 to Humphries and he has won their last three, including both their matches in 2025.

Happy Humphries

Humphries was very pleased to win PC4 as that will mean he will qualify for the finals and can skip as many of the remaining PC events as he chooses. As he said afterwards, that win means about 15 more days at home with his family. He will be in a good frame of mind this weekend, both for Glasgow and the opening Euro Tour event in Poland.

Humphries is the 1.53 favourite and Rock 2.75. Humphries is 2-0 in his PL appearances in Glasgow. They have played three best of eleven leg matches, none of which required more than eight legs.

Michael van Gerwen vs. Luke Littler

Many would have expected the table to be topped by Littler and maybe MVG to be struggling, but the reverse is true. Van Gerwen is on top with eight points and back-to-back finals, while Littler is fifth on two points.

Neither of these players travelled to Wigan for the Players Championships. Both are in good form, with Littler winning eight of his last ten matches and MVG seven, They met in last week’s semi-final, which Van Gerwen won 6-4.

Littler has had a bit of trouble on the doubles recently. His twelve-month checkout % is 43.57%, but in his last five matches, just 34.6%, and none better than 37%.

It will be interesting to see who the crowd favourite is here. MVG has won two of the last four nights in Glasgow, and Littler won last year. A Dutchman playing an Englishman in Scotland? Maybe MVG gets the nod, if he doesn’t wear too much orange.

Their H2H is 13-10 to MVG and he has won three of their last five, including that 6-4 last week. Their last four best of eleven matches have been over 9.5 legs. Littler is the 1.36 favourite, MVG 3.25.

Gerwyn Price vs. Jonny Clayton

We already have two matches which we saw just last week. MVG vs. Littler is a repeat of last week’s semi-final, and so is Price vs. Clayton. This is why this format gets stale very quickly.

Previewing matches between Price and Clayton is pretty straightforward these days. Price to win.

Their H2H record is 28-11 to Price and he has won their last ten matches in a row. You have to go back to March 2023 to find the last time Clayton beat Price but at least he has been getting closer. In their last seven best of eleven leg matches, it has been over 9.5 legs in the last three, and it finished 6-5 last week. Price has covered a -1.5 leg handicap against Clayton in eight of their last ten best of eleven leg matches.

Consistent Price

Gerwyn Price has won eight of his last ten matches and hit six ton plus averages. He reached the semi-final of PC4 on Tuesday, losing 4-7 to Humphries. Price is playing with great consistency with thirteen ton plus averages in his last eighteen matches.

Clayton has won six of his last ten matches and hit three ton plus averages. He played OK on Monday, reaching the quarter final of PC3, hitting some nice checkouts, but he was out in round one on Tuesday, losing to Max Hopp. He just doesn’t have the consistency of his Welsh World Cup teammate.

Price is the 1.62 favourite, Clayton 2.63. I will go with Price on the handicap.

2026 PL Darts Night 3 Tip: 1 point Gerwyn Price to win -1.5 legs @ 2.05 with Boylesports

I will also have a rare, small bet on the Night’s winner. Luke Humphries is playing very well and has reached the final here for the last two years, losing both 5-6. Third time lucky?
