Monday Evening PDC World Championship Tips

It was an interesting and profitable session this afternoon. As predicted, the opener went all the way with Van Duijvenbode coming back to win 4-3 landing our over 5.5 sets bet comfortably. Bully Boy beat the Magpie 4-2, advised at 5.00. Let’s hope for more of the same tonight. Check out James Punt’s Monday Evening PDC World Championship tips below.

James Wade vs. Vincent van der Voort

Wade holds a 18-7 H2H record but they have only met four times in the last three years, and Van der Voort won three of those, including their only match this year. They have met twice here, both fourth round matches and Wade won both 4-0.

Wade was not particularly impressive when beating Maik Kuivenhoven 3-1 in his opener. He only averaged 83.7 but he has now won seven of his last ten.

Wade has played 14 world championship third round matches and won 11 (losing his last two) while Vincent has played 12 and won 7.

Van der Voort beat Adam haunt 3-0 in his opener, averaging 89 but just 27% on the doubles. Both players will need to up their games if they are to progress.

Wade is the 1.57 favourite, Van der Voort 2.60. This is a match which makes little appeal betting wise. No Bet.

*Monday Evening PDC World Championship Late News: The Dutchman has failed his covid test. That is now Barney and Van der Voort who have tested positive. MVG next? It would be no surprise. Wade gets a bye into the fourth round.

Gerwyn Price vs. Kim Huybrechts

The defending Champion opened with a 3-1 win over Ritchie Edhouse very nearly two weeks ago. It was a good match as Edhouse raised his game and put a bit of pressure on the world number 1. Price lost the opening set to love and the next two went to a deciding leg. In the end it was a 101 average for Price and a reminder that nobody can be taken for granted. Price has won eight of his last ten matches and is in very good form.

The H2H record is 5-5 but they have not played much recently, and their last two matches were in October 2020. Price won 3-0 at the World Grand Prix and 6-1 at the European Championship. It is fair to say that Huybrechts as improved his form in 2021 but he is still short of Price in just about every aspect of his game. Price has played three third round matches here and won all three, Huybrechts has played seven and won four.

Double Trouble

Huybrechts has won six of his last ten and his scoring has been decent. However, on occasions his doubling has been poor, as it was when beating Steve Beaton 3-1 in the second round when his checkout rate was just 21.7%.

Price is likely to be too good for Huybrechts, but the Belgian is feisty and if he can find his A game then he can make Price work hard, just as Dolan did last year, taking Price to a deciding set. However if he continues to miss a lot of doubles, he could get a drubbing.

Price is the 1.20 favourite and Huybrechts a 5.00 shot. If Huybrechts can get his doubling up to a decent level, his scoring is good enough to win legs and a set or two but if he is weak in that department he will struggle. It is hard to see any angle here with question marks over Huybrechts performance on the outer ring.

Jonny Clayton vs. Gabriel Clemens

The Ferret had to dig deep when beating Keane Barry in the second round. He was 1-2 down but he found some more gears and won the last two sets 3-1, 3-0 and averaged 103.7 for the match. I am sure he would have preferred an easier match, but it did show us that he has the game to get past awkward opponents. Clayton has won eight of his last ten matches and remains in great form.

Gabriel Clemens has won seven of his last ten matches but hasn’t impressed in doing so. He has had four sub 90 averages in his last ten, but he has not been scoring well in 2021, averaging 92.8, which is not top level standard never mind elite level where Clayton exists. Clemens has won 66% of his matches this year so he has become more effective despite losing a bit of scoring power.

The German Giant beat Peter Wright 3-2 at this stage last year, but he has a good record against Wright, something he doesn’t with Clayton. They have played nine times and Clayton has won seven. Clemens’ two wins came in qualifying events in a first to five leg format and this is a first to four set format.

Clayton’s class should tell and if the German puts in his fourth consecutive sub 90 average, it could be a straight forward win for the Premier League champion. Clayton is the 1.22 favourite, but I’ll take the chance he covers a -2.5 set handicap.

Monday Evening PDC World Championship Tips: 1 point Jonny Clayton to win -2.5 sets @ 2.00 with Ladbrokes
