German Darts Championship Friday Evening Tips
Our tipster James Punt has already penned an o/r preview and you can read it here. He’ll also be covering as many matches as he possibly can across this weekend. Check out his German Darts Championship Friday evening session preview and tips below.
Martin Schindler vs. Jermaine Wattimena
Schindler reached the last 32 stage of the recent UK Open and he is back to playing well again. He has won six of his last ten matches and has a seasonal average of 93.8. He has a 3-2 H2H record vs. Wattimena.
The Machine Gun has also won six of his last ten and averages 91.1 in 2022. He is hugely experienced on the euro tour and he has won 21 of his 36 opening matches on it, but he has lost six of his last ten openers. Schindler has improved his euro tour form with experience and has won seven of his last ten opening matches.
German Darts Championship Friday Tips: 1 point Martin Schindler to win -1.5 legs @ 2.05 with Hills
Vincent van der Voort vs. Gian van Veen
Van der Voort has played some good stuff recently, like his 103 average against Adam Gawlas at the opening euro tour event two weeks ago. He has also played some dross and half of his last ten matches have seen sub 90 averages. He has no consistency and you don’t know what you are going to get.
Gian van Veen is not a player I have seen before but looking at his stats, he is an improving player, capable of good scoring. In 2019 his average was 67.3, 2020 77.0, 2021 81.6 and in 2022 86.3. In the qualifier for this he averaged 92.2, 97.4 and 93.9, so he can play. If he can bring his A game to what is his Euro tour debut and Vincent brings his B game, we could have a match. He may, of course, get stage fright and get hammered.
German Darts Championship Friday Tips: 1 point Gian van Veen to win +2.5 legs @ 2.20 with Ladbrokes
Daryl Gurney vs. Lukas Wenig
Lukas Wenig lost his last match 3-6 to Florian Hempel in the UK Open third round, but he had won the preceding twelve. They were mostly host nation qualifiers for the euro tour and he qualified for all three. He has played two European tour events, losing one first round match 4-6 to Chris Dobey, and beating Cody Harris 6-4 in the other. His 2022 average is 87.4 and he looks up against it here.
Superchin, a previous German Darts Championship winner, has won six of his last ten matches, including a 6-2 win over German youngster Fabian Schmutzler a couple of weeks ago. Wenig is older (27) and a bit better, but not by much. Gurney is playing well enough to be able to have a repeat of his win two weeks ago and have a crack at Luke Humphries.
German Darts Championship Friday Tips: 0.5 Gurney to win 6-3 @ 5.25 with Fitzdares
Joe Murnan vs. Kim Huybrechts
Huybrechts has won six of his last ten matches and is averaging 94.3 in 2022. He has got his mojo back and is feeling much more positive again. He lacks consistency but his A game is very good and his B game better.
Murnan reached the quarter final of PC3 three weeks ago and he has won seven of his last ten, averaging 91.9 in 2022. The H2H record is 5-2 to Huybrechts but the form is old and Murnan won the most recent back in February last year. All but one of their matches have gone to ten legs or more and this could be another close one.
