Saturday German Darts GP Tips

Having an outright bet on the German Darts GP? If so, check out James Punt’s fancies here. He also has previewed a number of the first round games. Check out his Saturday German Darts GP preview and tips below.

Martin Lukeman vs. Adam Gawlas

Two players in good form. Lukeman has won eight of his last ten matches, Gawlas seven. Their seasonal win rates are very close, 64% for Lukeman and 63% for Gawlas. Their seasonal averages are 91.6 for Lukeman and 90.4 for Gawlas. There is no H2H form to go on, but I expect this to be a close match. Lukeman comes here on the back of reaching his first evet players championship quarter-final and he enjoyed a run to the third round in the last euro tour event, so his confidence should be high.

Saturday German Darts GP Tip: 1 point over 9.5 legs @ 1.95 with William Hill
Saturday German Darts GP Tip: 0.5 point Lukeman to win 6-4 @ 6.75 with Unibet

Keegan Brown vs. Adam Hunt

This match sees two players who are struggling for form. Adam Hunt has only won 27% of his matches in 2022, averaging a lowly 86.7 and he has lost nine of his last ten matches.

Brown has lost six of his last ten matches, but his standard of play is noticeably better than Hunt’s. He is averaging 91.7 and has won 49% of his matches.

This is unlikely to be a classic but two out of form players can produce close matches, but Brown looks the most likely winner. He is the 1.45 favourite but I’ll take him to edge a low quality affair.

Saturday German Darts GP Tip: 1 point Keegan Brown to win -1.5 legs @ 1.80 with William Hill

Kim Huybrechts vs. Madars Razma

Huybrechts is the better known player, a former Premier League star, but his best days are behind him. Despite showing improved form at times, he is a bit of a journeyman pro these days. He has won six of his last ten matches.

Madars Razma has never hit the same heights as Huybrechts, but he has a 2-1 H2H record against the Belgian and he recently was runner up in players championship 7 late last month. Since then he has lost five of his last ten and he did get a relatively easy draw that weekend.

Huybrechts deserves favouritism, but there is not as much between the two as the odds suggest. His seasonal average is a couple of points better than Razma, but Razma has the better win rate at 64% to Huybrechts 56%.

Saturday German Darts GP Tip: 1 point Razma to win @ 2.75 with BET365

Alan Soutar vs. Max Hopp

Normally a first round Euro Tour match would be played on a Friday, in front of three men and a dog, but as this is a holiday weekend, there should be a good crowd in. The crowd will be 99% behind Hopp, the one-time great white hope of German darts. He has lost his way in the last couple of years and his win rate in 2022 is just 34%. He has changed his throwing action which is a sign of desperation. He is only 25 and has had a tour card for seven years but looks to be heading for Q school unless things pick up.

Alan Soutar had a good first year as a tour card holder and sits at 48th place on the OOM. However, his form in 2022 is poor. His seasonal average is down to 91.3 and his recent form sees just two wins in his last ten matches. One of those eight defeats was a 2-6 loss to Max Hopp.

Both players are in poor form, but Hopp has home advantage and that recent win over todays opponent to draw on.

Saturday German Darts GP Tip: 1 point Max Hopp to win @ 2.50 generally available

Keane Barry vs. Lukas Wenig

UK Open semi-finalist, Keane Barry is still a teenager and consistency is yet to come, but his recent form sees just three wins in his last ten matches. There are still some good quality performances in there, but he is struggling to win at the moment.

Wenig is another home player who will have the crowd behind him. He doesn’t have a tour card and we only get to see him periodically. He reached the third round of the UK Open and lost his first round match in Euro Tour 2, 4-6 to Daryl Gurney. Wenig plays mostly on the Challenge tour and his win rate is 75%.

This is a step up in class and Barry is by far the better player, but a better player who is out of form, in a first to six match, with a hostile crowd is a bit of a leveller.

Saturday German Darts GP Tip: 1 point Wenig to win +2.5 legs @ 1.83 with SportingIndex

Jeffery de Zwaan vs. Vincent van der Voort

An all Dutch affair with the evergreen Van der Voort facing the struggling but hyper-talented De Zwaan. The Swan has struggled with a shoulder injury which required surgery last year and he has struggled with his form for a couple of years now. He has shown some signs of his old self recently, but consistency is not part of his game right now. He has lost five of his last ten matches and four of those defeats were 5-6. The Dutchman is getting chances to win but not taking enough of them.

Van der Voort has won six of his last ten matches but his scoring has not been good. Six of those last ten have seen sub 90 averages and his seasonal average is 90.5, very much the same as De Zwaan’s 90.7.

Van der Voort has a 6-3 H2H record over De Zwaan and is the 1.70 favourite. De Zwaan makes some appeal at 2.33 but the value is only marginal.

Martin Schindler vs. Jermaine Wattimena

These two met last weekend and it was Schindler who won 6-1. That was their second match in 2022 and Schindler won the other, the first round of the last Euro Tour, 6-5 and is 5-2 up overall. He has won six of his last ten matches and will have the crowd with him.

Schindler is averaging 96.1 in 2022 and is amongst the heaviest scorers on tour. Wattimena is famous for being a very fast player but also a very overrated one in my opinion. He has lost five of his last six matches and will be low on confidence.

Saturday German Darts GP Tip: 1 point Schindler to win -1.5 legs @ 1.91 with Hills, Ladbrokes

Raymond van Barneveld vs. James Wilson

Is James Wilson the most injury prone man in darts? A broken arm is his latest on a long list of setbacks. He has lost seven of his last ten matches, only had two 90+ averages with a best of 92. His H2H record vs. RVB is 2-1 but they haven’t met since 2019.

Barney is not setting the world on fire and his is one of the most underwhelming come backs of all time. He is still averaging a very respectable 94.2 but has lost six of his last ten. At least he is fit and should win this match.

Saturday German Darts GP Tip: 1 point Van Barneveld to win -2.5 legs @ 2.10 with BET365, Paddy Power
