Sunday German Darts GP Tips

Having an outright bet on the German Darts GP? If so, find out who James Punt’s fancies here. Check out his Sunday German Darts GP preview and tips below.

Callan Rydz vs. Keegan Brown

Brown was quite impressive when beating Adam Hunt 6-2 yesterday. Hunt wasn’t up to much, but Brown was very comfortable and averaged 95. That makes it five wins from his last ten and he will need to keep his standard up if he is to progress to the final day.

Callan Rydz is struggling to string two wins together, but his last four matches have seen 96+ averages so he should be tough for Brown to beat. There is no H2H form to go on, but the market has Rydz as the 1.44 favourite, with Brown 2.80.

It is tempting to go in for brown again, but he is not a model of consistency, and the odds look about right.

Sunday German Darts GP Tip: No Bet

Rob Cross vs. Karel Sedlacek

Former German Darts Grand Prix quarter finalist Sedlacek got a bye into the second round and picks up a useful £2K. He is up against a former finalist in the shape of an in-form Rob Cross.

Voltage has won seven of his last ten matches and had ton plus averages in seven of them. He is winning plenty of matches, having good runs, but isn’t winning titles. He was runner up to MVG in the last Euro Tour event and his win rate in 2022 is a very healthy 71%.

Winning Habit

Sedlacek is also winning plenty of matches, but mostly at Challenge Tour level or regional qualifiers for these events. He reached the quarter final of the last Euro Tour event last month, when he lost to….Rob Cross, 4-6. Cross was very good that weekend, averaging 100 across his five matches but Sedlacek gave him a match, despite averaging 10 points less than Cross.

Their H2H record is 3-2 to Cross, so Sedlacek is not overawed by the former World Champion. Cross is the 1.30 favourite and Sedlacek the 3.60 outsider. Given that Cross is in very good form he deserves the favourites tag, but Sedlacek has won 75% of his matches in 2002. Yes, they have mostly been at a lower level, but he did beat Adrian Lewis, Chris Dobey and Jose de Sousa in the last Euro Tour event, so he can’t be easily dismissed.

Sunday German Darts GP Tip: 1 point Karel Sedlacek to win +2.5 legs @ 1.85 with Ladbrokes

Dirk van Duijvenbode vs. Boris Krčmar

Big Boris beat Luke Wood house 6-3 in a fairly ordinary game yesterday. He averaged 85.5, shy of his seasonal average of 93. He has lost six of his last ten matches and has only played one Euro Tour second round match, losing 5-6 to James Wade last year.

Dirk is one of our outright selections and is in good form, winning eight of his last ten. They have only met once, in a 2021 Grand Slam qualifier, and Krčmar won 5-4.

Duijvenbode is the better player, more experienced at this level, but Boris can play at high level, just not consistently. Dirk can be a bit of a slow starter, he tends to be a bit too nervous for my liking, and he could be tested more than the odds suggest. Duijvenbode is the 1.44 favourite, Krčmar 3.00.

It is hard to see any value in this match but I’ll have a small bet on Dirk winning a close match.

Sunday German Darts GP Tip: 0.5 point Van Duijvenbode to win 6-5 @ 8.00 with Fitzdares

Jose de Sousa vs. Madars Razma

The Special One is playing well but not winning as many matches as he should be. Averaging 95.5 in 2022, he is not at his best, but he’s not that far off it. He has lost four of his last ten matches and nine of his last fifteen have required a deciding leg.

Razma beat Kim Huybrechts 6-4 yesterday. It was a good performance overall, not great but it was a close tussle and he kept it together to get a late break and win.

Perhaps Razma can take Jose to yet another decider, or at least make a match of things.

Sunday German Darts GP Tip: 1 point over 9.5 legs @ 2.25 with Betfred

Joe Cullen vs. Wesley Plaisier

Plaisier produced the performance of the day when beating Jim Williams 6-3 and averaging 104. His seasonal average is 89.7, so it was not his usual kind of performance, but shows what he can do. The question is, can he do something similar today? I would say that it would be a surprise if he did, otherwise he wouldn’t be playing on the Challenge Tour.

Cullen is getting good at winning ugly. His win rate in 2022 is 70% but he has lost five of his last ten, albeit against top level opponents.

Cullen is the 1.25 favourite, Plaisier 4.00. It is likely that Plaisier has a bit of mental let down after his stellar performance yesterday, but we are still playing first to six legs and Cullen still has his off days and why not roll the dice and see if the big Dutchman can get a bit of momentum going and nick the win.

Sunday German Darts GP Tip: 1 point Plaisier to win @ 4.00 generally available

Luke Humphries vs. Jeffery de Zwaan

De Zwaan showed flashes of his old self when beating Vincent van der Voort 6-5 yesterday. He averaged 95 and has won six of his last ten matches, half of which required a deciding leg.

Humphries has won six of his ten, but he is playing better and more consistently than De Zwaan. Cool Hand is averaging 97.3 in 2022, some 7 points better than De Zwaan. He has won 71% of his matches this season and deserves to be the favourite. He is 1.30 to win, De Zwaan 3.60.

De Zwaan, at his best, is every bit as good as Humphries, but he is still work in progress as he comes back from injury. His should is still a problem and even in yesterday’s match, you could see his throw easing off as it went on. He looked like he could throw the dart through the board to start with, but then the intensity dropped off and he seems some way off getting back to his very best.

Humphries is 5-2 up in their H2H’s and has won their last four matches, all close affairs.

Sunday German Darts GP Tip: 1 point over 9.5 legs @ 2.38 with Boylesports

Brendan Dolan vs. Martin Schindler

Dolan has gone from having no form, to very good form in just the last few weeks. He has won seven of his last ten and is playing well. He started the year with nine straight losses but last weekend he reached the semi-final of PC13. The preceding weekend, he beat Schindler 6-2 in PC10.

Schindler Beat Wattimena 6-3 yesterday. It was a fairly good performance but he is likely to need to up his game today. He does have home advantage, but the crowd yesterday was not a partisan as many German crowds can be.

The standout stats here is that Schindler has never beaten Dolan. The Ulsterman is 5-0 up and has that easy recent win to draw on.

Sunday German Darts GP Tip: 1 point Brendan Dolan to win @ 1.91 generally available

Jonny Clayton vs. Dave Chisnall

The H2H stats in this one also stand out. Chisnall is 8-1 up and in 2022 2-0 up. That is a surprise given how good Clayton is these days. They last played in February and Chisnall won 6-4, despite Clayton averaging 101.2. He really does seem to have Clayton’s number.

Chizzy beat Ryan Miekle 6-4 yesterday with both players averaging 98, so it was a good opening performance.

Clayton is the 1.44 favourite but I have to go with Chisnall given that H2H record.

Sunday German Darts GP Tip: 1 point Dave Chisnall to win @ 2.90 with Betfred
