Friday Evening European Darts Open Tips and Preview
James Punt was on fire this afternoon. He posted three tips and they were all winners. He has also previewed tonight’s matches, check out his Friday Evening European Darts Open tips below.
European Darts Open – First Round
I have rarely seen a less appealing set of matches for betting purposes. There are so many players who are out of form that it is hard to have any confidence to risk having a bet in many of the matches.
Devon Petersen vs. Kevin Doets
Both have lost seven of their last ten and I couldn’t back either with stolen money. Petersen is talking a good game, but his doubling has been very poor. Doets is rated highly but he isn’t playing well right now.
Friday Evening European Darts Open Tips: No Bet
Stephen Bunting vs. Maik Kuivenhoven
At least Bunting is playing some good stuff and looks good to win this against an out of form Kuivenhoven. The Dutchman is a decent player and has taken some big scalps, but he’s lost seven of his last ten. Six of those have ended with a deciding leg, so maybe he can give Bunting something to think about, but Bunting reached the semi-finals last weekend, and he should justify odds of 1.40. Hardly great value and even odds of 7.00 for him to win 6-5 are not enough.

Daryl Gurney vs. Kevin Burness
An all Northern Irish clash with the two superhero themed players. Ironman Burness got his card back in January but has won just six of his twenty players championship matches since. Daryl Gurney has had a decent start to the season, reaching a players championship semi-final, a Euro Tour semi-final and two more quarter finals.
Everything was looking good, but his last five matches have seen just one win, poor scoring and he withdrew from the last players championship event. Something was amiss and it’s been nearly a month since he played competitively. The Chin should win but odds of 1.33 hardly get the pulse racing.
Friday Evening European Darts Open Tips: No Bet
Berry van Peer vs. Jermaine Wattimena
I like to oppose Wattimena but for once I can’t. Berry van Peer is improving but he is another to have lost seven of his last ten matches and has never beaten Wattimena.
Friday Evening European Darts Open Tips: No bet
Cameron Menzies vs. Ian White
Multiple Euro Tour title winner, Ian White, continues to struggle with form and confidence. He lost 4-6 to Patrik Gosnak in the first-round last week. Unthinkable a couple of years ago. Menzies has won six of his last ten and reached the semi-final of the WDF World Championship which made me think he was backable at 2.30 to win this. However, these two have met twice recently and Ian White won both, 6-5 and 6-3. If I had to have a bet, it would be on Menzies, but those recent wins for White are enough to put me off.
Friday Evening European Darts Open Tips: No bet
Martin Schindler vs. Ritchie Edhouse
Schindler is a rare form player on display today. He has won seven of his last ten matches and has been playing well for a while now. Edhouse is never to be underestimated, he is experienced and has won six of his last ten matches. He beat Schindler 6-2 on the Euro Tour back in 2016 but he has lost to him twice since. All three matches went over nine legs and this one may well do so, hopefully with Schindler on the right side of the result.
Friday Evening European Darts Open Tips: 1 point over 9.5 legs @ 2.05 generally available
Rowby-John Rodriguez vs. Nico Kurz
I’m a fan of Kurz and think he could be a player, but he neds to be playing at tour level regularly to develop his skills. He has played seven Euro Tour events since his 2019 debut and won three.
Rodriguez is the more experienced player and that should be the difference here. The Austrian makes little appeal at 1.48, however.
Friday Evening European Darts Open Tips: No bet
Dave Chisnall vs. Gabriel Clemens
The German Giant had his joint best ever Euro Tour performance last week when reaching the last 16 in Austria, losing to Rob Cross. Now back on home soil, will he revert to being an early exit merchant? He didn’t play well but pulled off two big out shots against Dolan to deny 4 legs, and to deny Cross a win by more than 1.5 legs. Those cost us two winning bets and he is off my Christmas card list.
Chizzy has played Clemens twice, winning both 6-5. He has won five of his last ten matches and isn’t in great form, but he has won three of his five Euro Tour matches this year. He reached the semi-final of PC11 last month, so his good form is not far away.
I am not a fan of Clemens on the Euro Tour, especially in Germany. Chizzy is a bit short at 1.54 so I’ll take a chance on another 6-5.
