Friday Evening Czech Darts Open Preview – JP
Friday Evening Czech Darts Open Preview
James Punt only recommended one bet at 2.00 this afternoon and he made it count. He is back with another preview for tonight. Check out his Friday Evening Czech Darts Open tips below.
Florian Hempel Vs. Ross Smith
Hempel hasn’t made the impression I expected of him since getting his tour card last January. He equalled his best run by reaching the quarter final of PC15 on Wednesday, so we could say he comes here in his best form. He has won six of his last ten matches but only averages 89.8 in 2022.
Ross Smith is a much more experienced player and he hit a nine-dart leg on Wednesday but lost the match 5-6 to Max Hopp. He won three matches mid-week and had two ton plus averages and a 97. He is a streaky player and when he is hot, he is top class. Is he hot right now? He might be, he is simmering, maybe coming to the boil?
There is no H2H to form to go on but Smith’s experience, he has played 19 Euro Tour events, and the fact that his mid-week scoring was hinting that he ready to have a streak, is enough to back him.

Martijn Kleermaker vs. Sebastian Bialecki
We have not seen Bialecki since he lost the quarter final of the UK Open in a deciding leg to William O’Connor in March. It was a great tournament for him, and he does like Minehead, having won nine of his eleven matches there. Is it Minehead…or does he like the stage? We will have a better idea later when he makes his Euro Tour debut.
Kleermaker is a much more experienced player and is in decent form, winning six of his last ten matches. He reached the quarter final of PC 13 last month and reached the fourth round of PC15 on Wednesday, losing 4-6 to Josh Rock. His scores were all mid 90’s and he had one ton plus.
Bialecki is another promising youngster but Kleermaker is playing well and he should be good enough to move on to the second round.

John Henderson vs. Nathan Aspinall
The Asp is one of our only two outright selections and he could have hoped for an easier opener. Henderson is not having a good season, losing 69% of his matches, but he has shown some better signs recently.
He reached the last 16 stage in PC13 last month, beating Van den Bergh and Rydz, averaging 98 and 99 respectively. While he only won one match in the mid-week, he averaged 97.8 when beating Jason Lowe 6-5, and he took five legs off Ryan Joyce and four off Cameron Menzies. He wasn’t poor in other words.
Aspinall should win the match, he is the 1.25 favourite, but Henderson may make him work harder than the odds suggest.

Ted Evetts vs. Adrian Lewis
It is easy to forget that Ted is the reigning World Youth Champion. You don’t win those in a lucky bag. However, he is having a poor season back on the pro tour. His win rate is 47% and he has lost six of his last seven matches. He has lost his last six players championship matches and he must be very frustrated.
He has played Adrian Lewis eight times and lost seven, including a match last month, which Lewis won 6-5, as he has done in three of their last four H2Hs. Ted won the other,6-5.
Lewis isn’t in great form, winning five of his last ten and being very inconsistent. He is literally hitting huge ton plus averages like 113 and losing or following up a 107 with an 89.

Gabriel Clemens vs. Karel Sedlacek
Gabriel Clemens’ form is a puzzle. His floor form has been impressive with big averages and a recent semi-final, but on the Euro Tour he has played five and lost four first round matches. He did reach the fourth round in ET four, but he averaged under 90 on three of his four matches with a best of 92. He just seems to hate the Euro Tour.
Evil Charlie, on the other hand, keeps on turning up and getting a bye into the second round and even when he doesn’t, he has made a quarter final. He has lost his last three Euro Tour matches but those were against Rob Cross (3-6), Stephen Bunting (5-6) and Nathan Aspinall (2-6).
It is time for him to get another win and another second round match. He played in this event in 2019 and beat Brendan Dolan 6-5 in the first round and he ran Ian White close in the second, losing 4-6, in the days when White was a major force on the Euro tour.
