Sunday Afternoon Czech Darts Open Preview

It was a tricky evening for James Punt last night and we had to make do with just the one winner. We are back in action again on Finals Day, check out his Sunday Afternoon Czech Open Darts Tips below.

Rowby-John Rodriguez vs. Dirk van Duijvenbode

Rodriguez has played well so far, averaging 96 across his two matches and he has won six of his last ten. He has a winning H2H record against Dirk, 5-4, but he has lost their last three meetings. Rowby-John is an above average player scoring wise, he is improving and is not without a chance here.

Van Duijvenbode has won seven of his last ten and played well in his 6-3 win over Karel Sedlacek (and the crowd) yesterday. He can be a bit flakey on his doubling, with half his last ten matches seeing under 33%, and it is one thing to score well, but he needs to be more ruthless in finishing legs off.

Van Duijvenbode remains the sport’s most prolific 180 hitter, hitting at a rate of 0.36, compared to 0.26 for Rodriguez. The Austrian was the more prolific yesterday, but I’ll take the chance that Duijvenbode asserts himself a little more today.

Jose de Sousa vs. Jose Justicia

De Sousa played OK when beating Kleermaker 6-2 yesterday, but it was just a 93.7 average, so nothing noteworthy. It was only his fourth win from his last ten matches and he remains some way off his best form.

Justicia played very well to beat Jonny Clayton 6-5. He showed bottle, scored well and hit his doubles at 60%. Clayton averaged 100 with 50% on the doubles and he was just beaten fair and square.

If Justicia can keep that up, he should win this, but can he? He isn’t a top player because these performances are the exception. He is not a great one for putting a run together but he did make a players championship quarter final last month and if he can dig deep, but try too hard, he must have a reasonable chance. De Sousa is not full of confidence and if Justicia can ask him a few questions, he might get the win.

However, what De Sousa does have is a H2H record of 4-0 over Justicia, and all very comprehensive wins of 6-1, 6-1, 6-1 and 6-2.

De Sousa is the 1.40 favourite with Justicia available at 3.40. This is a difficult one. Based on last night’s performance, Justicia makes a lot of appeal at 3.40. De Sousa remains a player not in great form and opposable. However, he has smashed the Spaniard up every time they have met, all within the last three years, and Justicia is not a player who puts many good runs together. Sadly, I will have to give it a miss.

Sunday Afternoon Czech Open Darts Tips: No Bet

Dimitri van den Bergh vs. Luke Humphries

A proper match between two players who are going to be around the top for a long time.

Van Den Bergh kept up his great record against Nathan Aspinall with a 6-4 win yesterday. He averaged 96 and there was little in it, but maybe Aspinall was expecting it.

The H2H record is 5-4 to Humphries but most of that form is at junior level, on the Development Tour, but at senior level it is 2-0 to Humphries.

Van den Bergh has lost five of his last ten matches, but he still made last weekend’s final, helped by James Wade’s withdrawal of course. Humphries has won seven of his last ten matches and his current A game is better than Dimitri’s, but he has a few more duff matches.

Picking a favourite here is difficult and the market largely goes 1.91 each of two. A coin toss. I would lean towards Humphries. He is winning more matches and looks the more confident player.

Michael van Gerwen vs. Mickey Mansell

MVG should have won his match 6-0 last night, but looked like he chose not to. His Czech opponent wasn’t in the game but Van Gerwen gifted him a leg and then screwed up the next one to win 6-2. He was just pissing about which was annoying.

Mansell beat Dolan 6-5 in a predicably nervy affair. His reward is £3k in prize money and another chance to get beaten by MVG.

Their H2H record is 7-1 to Van Gerwen and Mansell’s sole win was back in 2014. The Dutchman is just 1.14 to win and win he will. No bet.

Rob Cross vs. Ricky Evans

Cross is our last outright bet standing after Aspinall’s demise yesterday, and he finds himself up against an on fire Ricky Evans.

Rapid destroyed Ratajski 6-0 yesterday and Ratajski did very little wrong, he just didn’t have a chance. Evans averaged 103.6 and was better than that for most of the match. He was 6 from 7 on his doubles, the part of his game which has been his weakness for some time. I recall Evans playing James Wade in the first round of the players championship finals last November and he missed seventeen doubles from eighteen. It looked terminal. How do you comeback from that? That was an extreme example, but in a lot of his matches his checkout rate was sub 30% and that is difficult to win with.

To his credit, he has worked on his game and the doubles are getting there. It is still a work in progress, but he will be feeling so much better about his game now and that makes him a different player.

Cross Dominates H2H

Rob Cross has a 3-0 H2H record against Ricky with 6-0, 6-1 and 10-6, with the last match back in 2019. Cross, like Evans, has won six of his last ten matches and averaged 99.8 when beat Van Dongen 6-2 yesterday. It was another good performance but will it be enough today?

If Evans plays like he did yesterday, he wins, simple as that. Cross is a heavy scorer but so was Ratajski and he didn’t get a look in. Of course, going back to back with the kind of performance Evans put in yesterday is hard and if he could do that all the time, he’d be world champion.

The market has Cross as the 1.44 favourite and Evans at 2.75. Evans has beaten the impressive Josh Rock, the accomplished Ratajski and he looks the value to sink our outright selection.

Ross Smith vs. Dave Chisnall

Ross Smith beat Joe Cullen 6-4 yesterday, averaging 97.8 and it was another performance that suggests he is hitting one of his streaks. He has hit seven 180s from his first two matches at 0.35 per leg.

Dave Chisnall somehow beat Daryl Gurney 6-5 in an incredible match. Superchin averaged 103, was 50% on the doubles, hit six 180’s and didn’t win. Chizzy averaged 103, was 50% on the doubles and hit three 180’s and manged to win.

Clearly if he plays like that, Smith is up against it. Their H2H record is 4-2 to Chisnall and he is the 1.62 favourite with Smith 2.50. The outright odds look about right but the 180s may be the way to go here.

Smith can really bang them in when he is hot and Chisnall has always been one of the best on the maximums. Their last three matches have all been close, two 6-5’s and 2-3 in sets. With both playing well we could see another close match with more time to hit the 180’s.

Sunday Afternoon Czech Open Darts Tips: 1 point over 9.5 legs @ 1.95 with Boylesports

Adam Gawlas vs. Ryan Searle

Gawlas has ridden on the home crowd’s backs so far, winning both games whilst averaging 88 and 86. His last four matches have seen sub 90 averages and he has won five of his last ten. He is better than that, but he hasn’t found his A game so far.

Ryan Searle was last up last night and like Ricky Evans, won 6-0, averaged 107 and it was as one sided a match as you will see. Edhouse just didn’t turn up.

There is only so far the crowd can carry a player and this should be it for Gawlas. Searle doesn’t have a great Euro Tour record, but maybe he is getting the hang of it now.

Searle is the 1.30 favourite but if he can play anywhere close to his A game, he should win with something in hand, despite the crowd.

Adrian Lewis vs. Vincent van der Voort

Lewis beat an underwhelming Gerwyn Price 6-3 last night. Both averaged 91 in a poor match. The highlight was Price telling Lewis to fuck off after he tried to give him a sweaty man hug at the end of the match. Price doesn’t like Lewis and why Lewis thought it a good idea to grab him from behind is anyone’s guess.

Big Vinny beat Martin Schindler 6-5 in a good match that could have gone either way. Both averaged over 98 and Van der Voort hit the winning double with Schindler poised.

Van der Voort doesn’t really do long runs and he won’t be around much longer this weekend, but will it be Lewis who sends him home? Vinny reached the quarter final of PC11 last month and went out tamely to Dave Chisnall. He went out at the quarter final stage in last year’s players championship finals and two other quarter finals late last year. The quarter final seems to be his limit, and this is just the third round.

Lewis is another who gets a nosebleed the deeper he goes these days but his form is marginally better than Van der Voort’s.

Lewis is 24-9 in their H2H’s and he is the 1.73 favourite with Van der Voort 2.20. It is a match which makes no betting appeal. No bet.
