Friday Afternoon Hungarian Darts Trophy Tips
The darts are finally back. James Punt has an outright preview, see who he is backing here. He’ll also be previewing every match this week, get his Friday Afternoon Hungarian Darts Trophy Tips below.
Jim Williams vs. Brett Claydon
Two players not in great form, but Williams is the better player and in the better form of the two. Claydon has lost eight of his last ten matches, Williams six. There is no H2H form to go on but Williams 12 month average is 94.4 compared to 87.8 for Claydon. Williams win rate is 60% compared to 36% for Claydon, who has averaged just 75 in his two opening Euro Tour matches this season.

Darius Labanauskas vs. Josh Rock
Lucky D has lost quite a bit of form in 2022 with his seasonal average dropping by nearly 4 points to 88.2. That is well shy of Rock’s 95.0 (97.3 in the last three months). Both players got some play in over the summer break. Labanauskas winning twice on the Nordic Baltic tour, Rock twice on the development tour. Rock is by far the better player and so long as he doesn’t get fazed by Labanauskas’ slower pace of play, he should be too good for the Lithuanian.

Thiabault Tricole vs. Karel Sedlacek
Tricole was runner up in the WDF World Championship a few months ago. He has no tour card as yet but is held in high regard. He has played one Euro Tour match this season, losing 5-6 to Zoran Lerchbacher. Tricole played well and averaged 95. He has lost six of his last ten matches, most on the Challenge Tour.
Evil Charlie is making a habit of qualifying for Euro Tour events. He reached the quarter final of ET2 in March and made the second round of ET6 in May. He is much more experienced than Tricole and has had a tour card. Sedlacek still gets to play in a fair number of players championships and has wins over Gerwyn price and more recently, Luke Humphries.
Hopefully, that extra experience will be the deciding factor here.

Daryl Gurney vs. Nathan Rafferty
THE main event. How this match isn’t on last in the evening session is a scandal. The TXODDS derby, the Northern Irish derby. There is a lot at stake here.
It has been a while since Superchin won a tournament, but young Nathan picked up his seventh development tour title a couple of weeks ago. That was his third DT title of 2022 and he beat Gurney in that tournament. Lewis Gurney, but it was a Gurney. Rafferty has won nine of his last ten matches, but they were all development tour matches. At senior level, he has won four of his last ten.
Daryl Gurney was not in good form before the summer break, losing six of his last ten, and only won one of his last five. His 3 dart average has been slipping for a while, but it is still higher than Rafferty’s (92.9 vs. 89.9). They have met twice before, both this year and Daryl won both 6-4.
Gurney is the 1.62 favourite, Rafferty 2.37 and while there may be a bit of value in Rafferty’s odds, I will go with the 6-4 to Daryl form line.
