Friday Evening Hungarian Darts Trophy Tips

Due to the Dutch GP this weekend, James won’t be covering every match. However, he will have bets for selected matches that catch his eye. Check out his Friday Evening Hungarian Darts Trophy Tips below.

Ian White vs. Martin Lukeman

Ian White is not in good form and has lost seven of his last ten matches. It has been a long term loss of form with nearly five points coming off his seasonal average since the end of 2019. He reached the quarter final of ET9 in July, his best run for some time.

Martin Lukeman has built his season around the Euro Tour. He has played 19 Euro Tour matches and won 12, reaching the final of ET 3. He is used to the format now and is confident, something that White is not. Lukeman has lost five of his last ten, so he is not in great form himself, but he is safely into the European Championship finals already while White is still a couple of grand shy.

There are more things going right for Lukeman and it is White who is struggling to hang on to a top 32 ranking. To do that, making the finals is a must, so he is under more pressure here. You can see the frustration in him and it is hard to do your best when frustration is in your way.

Friday Evening Hungarian Darts Trophy Tips: 1 point Martin Lukeman to win @ 2.05 with Ladbrokes, Betfred

Dave Chisnall vs. Daniel Larsson

An easy match for Chizzy on the face of it. Larsson plays on the Nordic Baltic tour where he is doing well, winning 81% of his matches. It is a lower standard, but when he does get to play with the big boys, he enjoys it and can raise his game. He has beaten Nathan Aspinall and Damon Heta and taken Gary Anderson to a deciding leg. He was a tour card holder and is an experienced player, so he won’t be phased by playing Chisnall.

Chizzy hasn’t won a title since 2019 but he remains one of the best players around. His win rate in 2022 is a very good 72%, his best ever win rate, and he is averaging just under 96 in 2022. He has won seven of his last ten matches

Chisnall’s scoring power will make it difficult for Larsson, even if he does up his game. In Chisnall’s last ten matches, he hit a ton plus average seven times. He has won all of his first round ET matches but failed to get beyond the last 16.

Friday Evening Hungarian Darts Trophy Tips: 1 point Dave Chisnall to win -2.5 legs @ 1.70 with Ladbrokes

Ted Evetts vs. Chris Dobey

World Youth Champion and 14 time Development Tour winner Evetts really should have kicked on by now. He has been around for years, shown real promise, but failed to make an impact at senior level. He did reach the semi-final of PC 23 before the summer break which was his best run for a while. However, his scoring is not great at 91.3, but it is improving.

Chris Dobey is in fine form, winning eight of his last ten matches. He hasn’t ever beaten Evetts however, losing both their previous matches, but they were in 2016 and 2017. He reached the quarter final of PC23 and the semi-final of PC24 before the summer break but he wasn’t a model of consistency.

Dobey is the 1.40 favourite which is too short to be backing an inconsistent player, but Evetts make little appeal at 3.00. No bet.

Friday Evening Hungarian Darts Trophy Tips: No Bet

Stephen Bunting vs. Callan Rydz

Rydz is one of those players who is very good when he is in form, he wins titles when is running hot, but he can go off the boil and get frustrated and then he is poor. He has lost six of his last ten matches and was tending towards being poor before the break. Rydz must have been suffering with an injury (again) as he has only played nine matches since the end of May.

His scoring was poor and a long way from his best. In May he reached the final of PC15 and the semi-final of ET8 and he was banging in ton plus averages for fun. Then his form went AWOL. It is hard to say which Rydz will turn up tonight.

Bunting In Decent Nick

Bunting has won six of his last ten matches and is 2-1 up on Rydz. They last met in May in ET4, when Rydz was hot, and Bunting won 6-4. Bunting lost four of his last five matches before the break, but he hit three ton plus averages in those five, so he was in decent nick.

This match depends on which Rydz we get. Bunting is a fairly steady performer, not the best under pressure, but Rydz will have to be playing well to beat him.

Bunting is the 1.80 favourite and Rydz 2.10 and while the temptation is to back Bunting, Rydz’ form is too much of an unknown to be comfortable doing so. No bet.

Friday Evening Hungarian Darts Trophy Tips: No Bet

Gabriel Clemens vs. Ryan Meikle

Meikle has checked out at 44% since the start of June, the third best of the players in this tournament. He has won six of his last ten matches and he is an improving player. He has played Clemens three times in the flesh, losing two, including a 2-6 defeat in July.

Clemens’ form looks decent, winning seven of his last ten, but not in any great style. Six of those matches saw sub 90 averages. On the euro tour he has played ten matches and won just four. He is not at his best and hasn’t been for a year or two.

An improving Meikle makes just enough appeal to back him as the outsider.

Friday Evening Hungarian Darts Trophy Tips: 1 point Ryan Meikle to win @ 2.25 with Betfred

The coverage will be limited for the rest of the weekend as this clashes with the Dutch GP, but I’ll try and pick out a few bets for each session, time allowing.
