Friday Evening German Darts Open Tips
James has already posted his outright preview, check it out here. Next up, his tips for this evening’s session. His Friday Evening German Darts Open tips are below.
Josh Rock vs. Geert Nentjes
The two highest averages hit this year have gone to Josh Rock (121.88) and Geert Nentjes (120.24). So, if they both turned up with their A games, this could be very good.
Nentjes hasn’t made the same mark on the game at senior level as Rock is doing, but he has got a very good A game. His overall average is 90 which is well shy of Rock’s 95.05, and he has been scoring better than that recently. Nentjes has won seven of his last ten matches on the development tour where, amazingly, the two of them have never met.
Rock reached his second Euro Tour quarter final last week and is the more accomplished player. He is the 1.28 favourite, but he should be able to cover the handicap.
Friday Evening German Darts Open tips: 1 point Rock to win -2.5 legs @ 1.85 with Ladbrokes
Alan Soutar vs. Lukas Wenig
Soutar had a very good 2021 on his first year on tour but he not in good form now. His win rate in 2022 is just 50% and he has lost three of his last four. He is still playing some good stuff but is a bit too inconsistent. He has only qualified for two euro tour events this season and only won one match.
Lukas Wenig plays on the Challenge tour where he has won eight of his last ten and has a 75% win rate. He has played in five Euro tour events this season and won just two matches. That was his last ET event when he beat Steve Lennon and Chris Doby, both 6-4, and he averaged 101 against Dobey. That will have given him some confidence and he will be no push over, especially with the home crowd behind him.
Soutar is the 1.80 favourite and Wenig a best priced 2.20. The bookies are wise to the threat Wenig poses. Neither player appeals at the odds but I’ll go for a close match.
Friday Evening German Darts Open tips: 1 point over 9.5 legs @ 1.91 with Ladbrokes
Ian White vs. Raymond van Barneveld
It is a shame these two got drawn together as they both very opposable. White has gone very well in this event reaching all three semi-finals and one final. However the last time this was played was 2019 and White’s game has gone AWOL since then.
He has lost eight of his last ten matches but he did reach an ET quarter final and is not without a chance to make the European Championship, but he will need to at least make the quarter final here. However, this is his last chance as he has not qualified for the remaining events.
Raymond van Barneveld is in even worse form having lost nine of his last ten, including a 5-6 loss to De Sousa last weekend.
Someone has to win this match. Will White’s positive mental association be enough to raise his game? Or is his confidence too far gone? He has an 8-6 H2H record against Barney and can be backed at 1.95 to win.
It is hard to get involved in a match like this. No bet.

Gabriel Clemens vs. Martin Lukeman
Martin Lukeman is a Euro Tour specialist and he won his 13th euro tour match last weekend. He is safely through to the European Championship while Clemens needs a few more grand. However, he is in the remaining events, so the pressure is not really on him, but he’d prefer to get it done now rather than later. He has already beaten Clemens on the euro tour this year and overall it is 1-1, both played in 2022.
Clemens will be the home crowd’s favourite but his ET record this season is played 12 and won 3.
I will go for the specialist over the crowd favourite.
