Saturday Afternoon German Darts Open Tips

After a torrid start we got a nice winner with Martin Lukeman last night. Hopefully that is a sign of things to come, check out James Punt’s Saturday Afternoon German Darts Open tips below.

Ryan Searle vs. Luke Woodhouse

Woodhouse is one of those players who has had a tour card for a number of years but has never made much impact. However, he has a very good A game, which we saw yesterday when he beat Keane Barry 6-5, averaging 98 and hitting four maximums. His problem is a lack of consistency with a win rate of just 47%. He has lost six of his last ten matches and he really doesn’t win two in a row very often.

Ryan Searle has won four of their five previous matches and is the 1.45 favourite to win this. His Euro Tour record is disappointing, and his recent form sees him losing his last four in a row, all with sub 90 averages. The last three defeats were all 3-6 and the opponents were Dave Pallet, Jack Main and Karel Sedlacek. It fair to say he lost those matches as much as his opponents beat him.

It may be foolish given Woodhouse’s inconsistency, but Searle is worth opposing.

Saturday Afternoon German Darts Open Tip: 1 point Luke Woodhouse to win @ 2.87 with SpreadEx

Jose de Sousa vs. Dragutin Horvat

Horvat was able to register a 6-4 win over Jeff Smith yesterday, despite averaging just 79. He is going to have to up his game if he is to get away with that today.

De Sousa is not the player he was a couple of years ago, but he has been showing some better form of late, winning six of his last ten matches. He is usually a heavy scorer and I suspect he will win this with something in hand.

De Sousa is the 1.15 favourite, deservedly so. He is just 1.54 giving up a 2.5 leg handicap which is a bit tight, but I’ll have a smaller bet on the correct score. He has had a tendency to lose heavily on the ET so I’ll go for 2-6, the score the last time he made the second round.

Saturday Afternoon German Darts Open Tip: 0.5 point Jose de Sousa to win 6-2 @ 4.60 with Betfred

Krzysztof Ratajski vs. Geert Nentjes

Nentjes absolutely destroyed Josh Rock 6-0 yesterday and it takes a lot to beat Rock, never mind hammer him. Nentjes averaged 98 and was 60% on the doubles. He just didn’t give Rock a look in. If he can repeat that, he has a very good chance here.

His seasonal average is just over 90, mostly compiled from the development tour, so it is unlikely he will hit the same heights today but his average in the players championship events he has played in is 92.4, so he does raise his game against the better players.

Ratajski is in a rut. His game has hit a bit of a flat spot, losing five of his last ten and he lost to Ryan Meikle at the same stage last weekend. His record on the ET this season is dire having played 11 and lost 8. He has won just one of his last six second round matches.

The second round is often a seeds graveyard, as it was last week and Ratajski is worth taking on.

Saturday Afternoon German Darts Open Tip: 1 point Geert Nentjes @ 3.20 with Ladbrokes

Dimitri van den Bergh vs. David Evans

It was a rare win for Evans yesterday, his win rate in 2022 is 24%. He is a better player than that suggests but he just hasn’t taken to playing on the pro tour. He has won four of his last ten and shown flashes of his best game, but the only time he played Van den Bergh back in April, he lost 0-6. Dimitri averaged 94.9 that day, less than his seasonal average of 96.1.

Dimitri has lost five of his last ten matches and this will be his first as a Target Darts contracted player. His Euro Tour form was good at the start of the season making a quarter, semi and final up to May, but since then he has played seven and lost five. Not inspiring odds but he wins this. He is the shortest priced favourite of the day for a reason. No bet.

Saturday Afternoon German Darts Open Tip: No Bet

Danny Noppert vs. Ross Smith

The first of our ante post selections to hit the stage and Noppert is the 1.49 favourite to win. He has won seven of his last ten but lost at this stage last weekend. Overall his ET form is good, winning 15 of 21 matches and reaching two finals.

Smith is a good player but one that blows hot and cold. When he is in good form, you keep him on side. He has lost five of his last ten and lost four of his five matches against Noppert. His form is a bit cold having not played since early August and before that he was hitting some big averages and some not so good ones.

The odds here look about right. Noppert has to play better than he did last week when he was very flat and hopefully, he will be a bit sharper here today. No bet.

Saturday Afternoon German Darts Open Tip: No Bet

Dave Chisnall vs. Bradley Brooks

Chizzy is in great form, winning 73% of his matches in 2022, winning eight of his last ten and reaching the semi-final last weekend.

Brooks beat Scott Williams 6-3 yesterday and it was a good performance, averaging 95.2. His seasonal average is just 86.9 so it was one of his better displays.

There is no H2H form to go on and the bookies make Chizzy the 1.22 favourite and that looks about right to me. Brooks has potential and might be a bit of value getting a +2.5 leg handicap at 2.20, but I’ll swerve this one.

Saturday Afternoon German Darts Open Tip: No Bet

Nathan Aspinall vs. Steve Beaton

Another of our ante post selections is The Asp who starts his campaign against the evergreen Steve Beaton. Beaton got a bye into the second round and he was playing some good stuff before the summer break. He has struggled for the last three years, and his win rate has been under 50% since 2019. He was won five of his last ten matches and hit two ton plus averages, including a 110 when beat Martin Lukeman 6-3 just before the break. The Bronzed Adonis could be a bit rusty without a competitive match since early August.

Their H2H record 6-2 to Aspinall and in 2022 it is 1-1. All of their matches have been best of 11 legs and five ended with 6-3 a score line. Only one has gone beyond 9 legs.

Aspinall got the rust off by reaching the semi-final last week and that semi-final apart, he is in good form, winning seven of his last ten.

Saturday Afternoon German Darts Open Tip: 0.5 point Aspinall to win 6-3 @ 5.00 generally available

Dirk van Duijvenbode vs. Daryl Gurney

And yet another of our ante post bets, Dirk van Duijvenbode kicks off against the mercurial Daryl Gurney. We saw both sides of Superchin last weekend. Majestic when beating Nathan Rafferty 6-1, averaging 105.3 and winning all six legs in 15 darts or less.

He then lost 0-6 to Michael Smith, averaging 86.8. At his best Gurney was a reliable, consistent heavy scorer, but right now you don’t know what you are going to get. The fact is that he hasn’t won back to back matches since July. He was decent yesterday, not as ruthless as I would like to see when controlling a match, but it is what he does today which counts.

Dirk is in good form winning seven of his last ten matches and he is the 1.44 favourite. They have met only twice before and it is 1-1, but the last match was back in 2018. That was when Superchin was at his best and since then he has lost a few points off his averages whilst Dirk has really improved a lot.

Saturday Afternoon German Darts Open Tip: 1 point Dirk van Duijvenbode to win -1.5 legs @ 1.80 with William Hill
