Saturday Evening German Darts Open Tips

We had to make do with just the one winner this afternoon and James is back for more punishment. Check out James Punt’s Saturday Evening German Darts Open tips below.

Damon Heta vs. Alan Soutar

Damon Heta has lost his last six matches without doing very much wrong. He is scoring well but his checkout rate, which has been very good in 2022, has let him down. In four of those defeats his checkout rate was under 30%. Getting on a losing run is never a good thing and his confidence must be a bit dented and that can make hitting the doubles that bit harder.

Soutar has won six of his last ten and while he isn’t playing as well as Heta, he is winning matches. He was OK last night, beating a German opponent not in any great style but it’s a win. He has been inconsistent of late and is hard to call.

Heta is the 1.36 favourite, Soutar 3.40. The seeds were falling in the afternoon session, we lost all three ante post selections, so to see Heta lose again would not be a surprise, but Soutar will need to play better.

Saturday Evening German Darts Open tip: 1 point Alan Soutar to win +2.5 legs @ 1.75 with Boylesports

Luke Humphries vs. Daniel Larsson

Larsson did his usual thing last night, starting well, going 3-0 up and then 5-2 up, before Yozza took the match to a deciding leg which he won with an 86 checkout.

Humphries was very flat last week, going down tamely to Krčmar, but he should be too good for Larsson. He is the 1.14 favourite and Larsson has had his fun for the weekend. It is not a betting price however. No bet.

Saturday Evening German Darts Open tip: No Bet

Joe Cullen vs. Joe Murnan

Murnan is one of the lucky ones to get a bye into this round. Steve Beaton took advantage this afternoon so Murnan can’t be dismissed.

Cullen has won eight of his last ten, won the title last week and is the 1.29 favourite. He is 8-1 vs. Murnan but his only defeat was the last time they played not long before the summer break. Seven of their nine matches have gone to 10 legs or more and that looks the way to go.

Saturday Evening German Darts Open tip: 1 point over 9.5 legs @ 2.30 with Ladbrokes

Peter Wright vs. Raymond van Barneveld

Wright got the rust off with a ton average last weekend, losing his second round match but playing well. Now pain free, his season starts here. He is 15-12 against Barney with no less than four PL draws. Wright has won their last seven and should make that eight.

Barney beat Ian White 6-0 but only averaged 91 and this will be a different proposition.

Wright is the 1.36 favourite but he should be able to cover the handicap, but at just 1.53 giving up 1.5 legs, there is no value here. No bet.

Saturday Evening German Darts Open tip: No Bet

Gerwyn price vs. Lewy Williams

Williams has won 13 of his last 14 matches, but that was at development tour level. This a step up. They have yet to meet and Price will be keen to put some manners on the cocky young Welshman. That is his job.

Price, while not winning nearly enough matches in 2022, has won eight of his last ten and he is well rested after pulling out last weekend. He is the 1.14 favourite and Williams, while having promise and confidence from his DT form, isn’t in the same league yet. No bet.

Saturday Evening German Darts Open tip: No Bet

Martin Schindler vs. Danny van Trijp

Van Trijp was reasonably impressive last night, beating Henderson 6-0, but it was just a 92 average and Hendo was poor.

Schindler got a bye to the second round and he can make the most of his gift. His form may have tailed off a little but he is having a good season and with home support he should get through. He is the 1.30 favourite which is of no interest. Schindler is ranked 6th for 180s per leg in the last 12 months and I’ll take the win match and most 180s.

Saturday Evening German Darts Open tip: 1 point Schindler to win the match and hit the most 180’s @ 1.80 with Boylesports

Jonny Clayton vs. Jim Williams

The second all Welsh clash of the evening, this time between the nice ones. Williams beat Karel Sedlacek 6-5 in a very entertaining match, but he averaged just 89.9. He will need to reproduce the kind of level he produced to beat the ton plus average of Wright last weekend, but what you are going to get from Williams is hard to guess.

Clayton has won seven of his last ten and he should be a bit fresher this weekend. He is 2-0 against Williams, both this season and both close, 6-4 and 6-5.

Saturday Evening German Darts Open tip: 0.5 point Clayton to win 6-4 @ 6.00 with Betfred, Hills

Rob Cross vs. Martin Lukeman

Saving the best till last? Maybe, if Lukeman can play like he did last night. He just didn’t give Clemens a look in, despite the German averaging 107.3! Lukeman won 6-1 and averaged 103.6. Awesome.

Cross is our only remaining ante post selection left and the way this tournament has gone, he’s toast. He is in great form despite losing last weekend, but will he do a Noppert or a Van Duijvenbode, and be in great form but lose back to back?

Cross is the 1.44 favourite with Lukeman 3.00. Cross is 2-1 in the H2Hs and I have to give the nod to Lukeman given his form last night. He is relaxed and enjoying this Euro Tour so much.

Saturday Evening German Darts Open tip: 1 point Martin Lukeman to win @ 3.00 with Ladbrokes

Due to the clash with the Italian GP there will be no third round coverage tomorrow. Hurrah! I hear you say….but I’ll be back to put the curse on the quarter finals.
