Sunday Night International Darts Open Tips
Just one winner for James Punt this afternoon. We still have two outright chances left too, so hopefully either The Aubergenius or Price can go all the way. You can check out James Punt’s Sunday Night International Darts Open tips below.
Michael van Gerwen vs. Peter Wright
Wright was poor in his 6-4 win over Alan Soutar, averaging just 84. A least he hit the doubles well at 60%. He will need to find his A game before this match, otherwise its weekend over for Snakebite. MVG had an easy 6-1 win over De Sousa, averaging 95.9.
This is the 100th European Tour event, and this will be the 100th time these two have played each other. They should have a special cake made or something. MVG has won 73 of the previous 99, Wright 23, with two draws. Van Gerwen has won three of their four matches in 2023, including a dreadful 6-5 win on Thursday.
Given that H2H record MVG is around a 1.25 shot and the market is not far off at 1.33. Wright is a 3.40 shot but he makes little appeal. It is a no bet match for me.

Jonny Clayton vs. Martin Schindler
The Ferret thrashed a poor Dave Chisnall 6-2, averaging 104.2, and he was 60% on the doubles. Chisnall has got it in for me it seems, averaging a paltry 91.3. That is six wins from his last ten matches and his form is picking up. Clayton has played in ten Euro Tour quarter finals and won six, including one this year.
Schindler came from 1-3 down to beat Aspinall 6-3. It was a good performance but The Asp will be kicking himself for missing some important doubles and it was a match he let slip through his fingers. Schindler has played in five previous Euro Tour semi-finals and lost them all, including one this year.
These two have met three times with Schindler winning twice, including a 10-8 win in this year’s Masters.
Clayton is the 1.44 favourite, Schindler 2.75. I can’t argue with those odds but there is little value in them or the side markets. No bet.

Damon Heta vs. Dirk van Duijvenbode
Dirk produced eight 180s in his narrow 6-5 win over Danny Noppert. It was a fascinating match with Dirk’s awesome fire power battling with Noppert’s excellent doubling. Van Duijvenbode averaged 11 points more than Noppert, but Noppert’s checkout rate of 71% kept him right in the match. In the end, the power scoring overcame the great doubling.
Heta ended Niko Springer’s run with a 6-3 win, averaging 94. It was a professional performance. He was never in any trouble and it means he has won seven of his last ten matches. He has played in five Euro Tour quarter finals and won three, but he did lose one last weekend, a 4-6 defeat to Danny Noppert.
Dirk van Duijvenbode has played six Euro Tour quarter finals won just two, including one last weekend when he beat Josh Rock 6-3. He will be more concerned with the fact that he has played Heta four times and lost all four. Not only did he lose them all, he lost heavily, with a cumulative leg score of 26-10.
Dirk The fav
Both players have won seven of their last ten matches, Heta has an impressive H2H record with Dirk, but it is the Dutchman who is the 1.61 favourite. He has won two titles in the players championship this season, while Heta has not been in great form this season. Has he turned a corner? Perhaps, but Dirk will be tough to beat if he keeps smashing in so many 180s.
I can’t ignore that H2H record and as we are on Dirk e/w for the title, I will just hope that he can end that poor record against the Aussie and have a rematch of last week’s final vs. Price in the semi-final. No bet.
Sunday Night International Darts Open Tip: No Bet
Rob Cross vs. Gerwyn Price
If you ever see a better Euro Tour match than Gerwyn Price vs. Mike de Decker, count yourself lucky. There were no less than 13 maximums, multiple ton plus checkouts and it went to a last leg decider, which Price won. It was ridiculous.
It was yet another Euro Tour ton plus average for Price, that is now eight from nine matches, a 2023 Euro Tour average of 104. It was a 106 this afternoon, and he was only 33% on his doubles, it could have been a lot better.
He can be beaten, he lost to Dave Chisnall in ET1, despite averaging 108 in that match, but since then he has played seven and won seven, but he did survive a couple of match darts against Dirk van Duivenbode in last weeks final.
Doubles for Dough
Rob Cross averaged a puny 100.1 in his 6-3 win over Josh Rock, but he was a remarkable 86% on the doubles. Cross is not without a chance if he can keep that sort of standard up. De Decker just about lived with Price in terms of scoring and if Cross can hit a few more maximums and keep his doubles on point, he is not without a chance, but you really would not want to play against Price on the Euro Tour right now. His opponents have had a habit of raising their game against him, but he is just relentless.
Their H2H record is 9-6 to Price and he has won their last three. They have played five European Tour matches with Price winning three, Cross two. They were played in 2018/19 and since then, Cross has declined a little and Price improved.
Superior Firepower
With his firepower, Price should be winning these Euro Tour matches 6-0, 6-1 kind of thing, but his biggest winning margin has been a couple of 6-2s.
Cross is playing well enough to give Price plenty to think about, especially if the Welshman is a bit off on his doubles. The bad news for Cross, is that Price’s 33% checkout rate today was a bit of an outlier. His checkout rate across his nine ET matches is 52%.
Price is the 1.54 favourite, Cross 2.75. Hopefully Price wins and continues his march to another title.
