Saturday German Darts Grand-Prix Preview

James Punt has already posted his outright betting preview, check that out here. You can see his Saturday German Darts Grand-Prix tips below.

Jules van Dongen vs. Berry van Peer

Van Dongen is in poor form. His 2023 win rate is just 27% and he has lost eight of his last ten matches. Van Peer is playing better, winning seven of his last ten. He has lost three of his last four, but he still scored well enough in defeat.

Matt Campbell vs. Callan Rydz

The Ginger Ninja has been playing some good stuff and is worth considering against the bouffant Rydz. He has won seven of his last ten matches and the last time we saw him he missed match darts to beat MVG in last weekend’s second round. His consistency leaves something to be desired, but his A game is right up there.

Rydz is a class player but there is a touch of Robert Thornton about him. He beats himself up and lets a few missed darts frustrate him, to the point of giving up. He needs to get that out of his game if he is to realise his potential. Like Campbell, his consistency is lacking and his form at the minute is very hot and cold. He has won six of his last ten but you don’t know if you are going to get a ton plus average or a sub 90.

Both players have a win rate of 67% in 2023 and there is enough value in Campbell’s odds for a bet.

Scott Waites vs. Dragutin Horvat

Waites is in very poor form, losing nine of his last ten matches, and his seasonal win rate is just 30%. He can still turn it on but he hasn’t very often this year.

Horvat plays on the Challenge Tour where he has won eight of his last ten matches. His consistency is non-existent. His last match saw an average of 78, that was in a final vs. Christian Kist, but he averaged 105 in the quarter final, beating John Henderson 5-2. He also beat Wesley Plaisier 5-2 in that event and averaged 99.

These two met on the Euro Tour last year and Waites won 6-1. Horvat does not have a good record on the Euro Tour. He has played in eleven events in the last five years and won just two of his first round matches, and never progressed any further than the second round. However, he has a decent chance against a player who must be very low on confidence.

Saturday German Darts Grand-Prix tip: 1 point Dragutin Horvat to win @ 2.35 with Unibet

Brendan Dolan vs. Jeffrey de Zwaan

Brendan Dolan is not a Euro Tour specialist but he has won his last two opening matches. Overall, he has won six of his last ten and he is playing OK.

De Zwaan had to win his tour card back in January and is on something of a comeback trail. He had a good run at the UK Open, reaching the last 16 stage and beating Gerwyn Price along the way. He is a class act but a shoulder injury and surgery on it knocked him for six and it remains to be seen if he can be the same player he once was. His most recent form is not great, losing six of his last ten matches. Six of those last ten have seen sub 90 averages and he has been struggling on the outer ring.

Dolan is the 1.85 favourite. He has won two of their three previous matches but De Zwaan won their only match in 2023, a 6-3 win with Dolan missing nine doubles. Maybe this time it will be De Zwaan missing the doubles.

Saturday German Darts Grand-Prix tip: 1 point Brendan Dolan to win @ 1.85 with Ladbrokes
