2023 Friday Czech Darts Open Preview
James Punt is back in action with match previews for tonight’s action. His outright preview can be viewed here. Check out his 2023 Friday Czech Darts Open betting preview and tips below.
Jose de Sousa vs. Bradley Brooks
The Special One may be on the slide but he was runner up in PC10 last month, has won eight of his last ten matches and three of his four opening Euro Tour matches. He is not anywhere near his best, but he is still winning matches.
Brooks got a good win against Richard Veenstra last week then lost his second round match to Luke Humphries, but he did take it to a deciding leg. He has lost seven of his last matches at senior level and most of his wins have been on the development tour. He reached the semi-final of PC7 in March. Six of his last ten senior level matches have ended 6-5 and eight of his last ten have required at least ten legs.
2023 Friday Czech Darts Open Tip: 1 point over 9.5 legs @ 2.10 with Betfair
Jamie Hughes vs. Vincent van der Voort
The 2019 champion, Jamie Hughes was delighted to qualify for this event, the scene of his biggest win in darts. His form coming into the event is not good however, losing seven of his last ten matches. He started the year well, reaching the final of PC1 in February and followed that up with runs to the last 16 in PC 2 & 3. Since then he has played 18 and won just 5.
Vincent van der Voort is not in any great form himself, losing six of his last ten matches. He has played Hughes twice and it is one win apiece.
Hughes is the 1.80 favourite and Vincent 2.00. Given that both players are in poor form, I’ll happily swerve this one.
2023 Friday Czech Darts Open Tip: No Bet
Steve Beaton vs. Darius Labanauskas
Lucky D has fallen off the darting radar. The 2021 World Championship quarter finalist has a win rate of just 36% in 2023 and is averaging 87.77. He has won five of his last ten matches and there has been a slight uptick in his game recently, but no great consistency.
Euro Tour stalwart Beaton is going along quite nicely in 2023. His win rate is a reasonable 57% and his seasonal average is 91.73. He has lost six of his last ten matches. On the Euro Tour, Steve has played eight matches and won five. He has won all of his three first round matches.
Steve Beaton is the 1.50 favourite with Labanauskas 2.75. They have met four times and Darius has won three. Beaton won their most recent match in 2021. The three best of 11 leg matches all required at least 10 legs.
Beaton should justify favouritism and I will have small bet on a correct score.
2023 Friday Czech Darts Open Tip: 0.5 point Steve Beaton to win 6-4 @ 6.50 with Betfred, Skybet
Adam Gawlas vs. Madars Razma
Home crowd favourite Gawlas used the home support to reach the quarter final last year, his joint best Euro Tour result. He did get very emotional with each win and clearly it is a very big deal for him to play at home.
Galwas is in very poor form however, losing eight of his last ten matches at senior level. He has played just one Euro Tour match in 2023 and lost it 0-6 to Graham Hall a couple of weeks ago. He is going to need the crowd to carry him here, and even that may not be enough.
Razma is not in great form either, losing six of his last ten matches and on the Euro Tour, he has played four and won just one match. Razma is the 1.67 favourite with Gawlas 2.32. The crowd was big this afternoon and they got right behind the home players. With two players in poor form, the crowd could be the difference. It is a no bet for me.
2023 Friday Czech Darts Open Tip: No Bet
Kim Huybrechts vs. Callan Rydz
It was a late call up for Rydz and he will hope to be able to take advantage as his record on the Euro Tour in 2023 is played four and won just one match. He has lost five of his last ten matches and he isn’t in great form.
Huybrechts won PC3 back in February but he hasn’t kicked on. He has qualified for four Euro Tour events in 2023 and lost his opening match in all of them, including a 0-6 defeat to Ricky Evans last weekend. His overall form is poor with six defeats in his last ten.
Rydz is the 1.91 favourite with Huybrechts 2.05. How do you pick a favourite out of two players in poor form? No bet.
2023 Friday Czech Darts Open Tip: No Bet
Karel Sedláček vs. Jeffrey Sparidaans
Evil Charlie will be the crowd favourite and he is an improving player who has enjoyed some good runs on the Euro Tour, reaching two quarter finals. He won three matches to come through the qualifying event in March, but since then he has only played four matches and lost them all.
It must be said that his 2023 form has been poor. His win rate is just 51% and outside a run to the last 32 in the UK Open, there has been little to write home about.
Sparidaans has won five of his last ten matches but he hasn’t made a great impression since winning his tour card in January. He beat Gerwyn Price in PC4 where he reached the 4th round. He is not a heavy scorer and it is hard to see him dominating here.
Sedláček is the 1.53 favourite and he should win, but he is not playing well enough to be backing at such odds. No bet.
2023 Friday Czech Darts Open Tip: No Bet
Martijn Kleermaker vs. Stephen Bunting
Kleermaker reached the quarter final of PC10 last month but that is about it in 2023. He played in the Belgian Open last weekend and got a surprise 6-4 win over Ross Smith in the first round before losing 1-6 to Nathan Aspinall. Smith just didn’t get going until it was too late and Kleermaker only averaged 85.
Stephen Bunting was runner up to Jamie Hughes here in 2019 so he has good memories of the event. He is having a decent 2023 with a win rate of 63%. He has played eleven Euro Tour matches in 2023 and won seven. The Bullet reached the quarter finals last week and while he doesn’t look like winning titles, he is playing well enough to pick up some more valuable ranking money.
These two have met six times and it is 3-2 to Bunting. They met earlier this year and Bunting won that one 6-3 and something similar looks likely. Bunting is a heavier scorer and Kleermaker is going to have to up his game to live with him.
Bunting is the 1.33 favourite with Kleermaker 3.40. Not very enticing but I’ll try a repeat of their only match of this year.
