Friday Night European Darts GP Preview

James Punt’s hot streak continued thanks to Van Veen this afternoon. He is back with another preview for this evening’s session, get his Friday Night European Darts GP tips below.

Daryl Gurney vs. Dylan Slevin

This will the two stablemates fifth meeting this year, so we have plenty of recent H2H form to go on. So far it is 2-2 and Daryl Gurney won their last match in ET7 6-3. Ocean’s Slevin has hit some poor form, losing six of his last ten matches and just one of his last six. His scoring has been poor with a lot of sub 90 averages.

Superchin has won six of his last ten, hit three ton plus averages but also four sub 92s. He is £15.5K ahead of Josh Rock in the World Cup standings with the cut off being after the end of this tournament. He will be safe unless Rock wins the tournament.

Gurney is the 1.40 favourite but he looks worth backing on the handicap.

Friday Night European Darts GP Tip: 1 point Daryl Gurney to win -1.5 legs @ 1.73 with Betvictor, Unibet

Chris Dobey vs. Graham Hall

Dobey will have had the novelty of not playing in the Premier League the night before he kicks off a Euro Tour event. His travel will have been a bit more sedate and it will be interesting to see how he gets on this weekend. While he only finished 7th of the eight players he played well enough, averaging 97.32 against the game’s elite.

Graham Hall has won seven of his last ten matches but seven saw averages of under 91. He has a good A game and if he brings that we could have close one, but Dobey should have too much firepower in the majority of games. He beat Adam Gawlas 6-0 in his first Euro Tour appearance but only averaged 89 and he lost the second round match 6-2 to Josh Rock.

Friday Night European Darts GP Tip: 1 point Chris Dobey to win -2.5 legs @ 1.91 with Ladbrokes

Steve Beaton vs. Ricardo Pietreczko

Steve Beaton has played in four Euro Tour events in 2023 and won six matches, including all four first round games. His recent form sees six wins from ten.

Pietreczko has played in three Euro Tour events and won four of his seven matches. He reached the quarter final of ET2, narrowly losing 5-6 to Rob Cross. His recent form isn’t great, losing six of his last ten matches. He is playing OK but lacking consistency.

The German is the marginal favourite at 1.85 with Steve Beaton 2.00. They have not played each other yet, but I’ll take a chance that we have a close match. Their 12 month averages are very similar, as is their recent scoring.

Friday Night European Darts GP Tip: 1 point over 9.5 legs @ 1.91 with Ladbrokes, Boylesports

Liam Maendl-Lawrence vs. Raymond van Barneveld

The young German has played in two Euro Tour events and won both his opening matches. He obviously enjoys spending time on the big stage as he takes as a long time to throw his three darts.

Maendl-Lawrence caused Ritchie Burnett to nearly burst a blood vessel as he waited, and waited for his next throw. He played 43 legs across his four matches and had three matches that required a deciding leg. His scoring isn’t great, but he seems to bore opponents into playing at his level.

Barney has lost five of his last six matches and his doubling has been off. He is the 1.22 favourite, which is very short for a player struggling for form. Will he be put off by the pace of the game? Very possibly. I’ll take a chance on Maendl-Lawrence dragging another match out.

Friday Night European Darts GP Tip: 1 point over 9.5 legs @ 2.37 legs with Ladbrokes

Simon Whitlock vs. Josh Payne

Payne’s heart must have sunk when he saw who he got drawn against. These two have met eight times and The Wizard has won seven. Of their last four best of 11 leg matches, Whitlock has won three 6-3. He is just better in most departments and is in reasonable form, winning seven of his last ten, if not in any great style.

Friday Night European Darts GP Tip: 0.5 point Simon Whitlock to win 6-3 @ 5.80 with Unibet
