2024 WC Darts Tuesday Evening Preview & Tips
We got back on track this afternoon with two winners from three bets. James is looking to add a few more tonight, check out his 2024 WC Darts Tuesday Evening match previews and tips below.
Steve Beaton vs. Wessel Nijman
Steve Beaton is playing in his twenty third PDC World Championship, Nijman is playing in his first. The young Dutchman qualified via the Development Tour and he is a lucky boy to still be playing.
He was caught match fixing in 2020 and got a five year ban. The last two and a half years have been suspended but I don’t think there is any room for match fixers in any sport. They are the enemy of the punters.
Beaton is not in great form, losing five of his last ten matches and half of them saw sub 90 averages. His A-game is till good, but his seasonal average is 91.57 which is a fair reflection of where his game is.
Youth Championship Semi-Finalist
Nijman recently reached the semi-final of the World Youth Championship, losing 5-6 to Gian van Veen and averaging 102. He possesses a very strong A-game and is a prolific 180 hitter, ranked 5th for 180s per leg at 0.33. He has won three Development Tour titles in 2023 and has a seasonal average of 93.12.
Here we have the massive experience of Beaton vs. the dynamic firepower of Nijman. Can Beaton grind out a win, or will the Dutch youngster blow him out of the water?
Beaton only hits 180s @ 0.20 per leg but if he can hit two or maybe three, Nijman can do the rest.
2024 WC Darts Tuesday Evening Tip: 1 point over 7.5 180s @ 1.91 with Betfair
Mike de Decker vs. Dragutin Horvat
De Decker was showing some good form earlier in the season, but the wheels appear to have fallen off just at the wrong time. He has lost ten of his last thirteen matches and been beaten heavily by some not very good players.
De Decker has played in the last three World Championships and won two first round matches but has only hit one 90+ average in five matches.
Dragutin Horvat is another not very good player but even he is in with a chance. The German’s seasonal average is over 5 points shy of De Decker’s and he plays mostly on the Challenge Tour with occasional Euro Tour events and the odd Players Championship call up.
He was last seen playing in and winning the German Super League to earn his place here. He won eight of his last ten matches but only hit 90+ averages, and only just over 90.
De Decker The Fav
Mike de Decker is the 1.36 favourite and he is being backed. Yes, he is a better player but his form is really poor. His confidence must be low and if Dragutin could summon up a decent performance he could win this. The German won a preliminary match here in 2017 having also won the Super League that year, but he lost in the first round, 0-3, to Simon Whitlock.
Is it worth opposing De Decker? Yes, but opposing him with a very ordinary player like Horvat? I am afraid that both players fall into the unbackable category. No bet.
2024 WC Darts Tuesday Evening Tip: No Bet
Ricardo Pietreczko vs. Mikuru Suzuki
The diminutive German has threatened to ‘boycott the crowd’ if they do not show him the respect he thinks he deserves. He still is in a huff because the Grand Slam crowd wanted Beau Greaves to beat him, were very vocal in their wishes, and he threw the toys out of the pram. Not only in that match, but in the next one. He is clearly needing a screw tightened.
This is one of two draws he didn’t want and he is now facing another woman, who the crowd will be cheering on. It will get to the sensitive Pietreczko and he may have a problem with his head. He has the game to win 3-0 and may well do so, but if he gets involved with the crowd, he will make things tough for himself.
Suzuki No Beau Greaves
Suzuki is well shy of the standard of Beau Greaves. The former Women’s World Champion only averages 78.68 in 2023 and it is pretty pointless turning up for anything other than the first round losers prize money.
She does play against the men on the Asian Tour where she has reached two quarter finals and she also played in the Modus Super Series in September. She played twenty five matches there and won just seven matches. Suzuki is now up against a Tour Card holding, Euro Tour event winning player whose seasonal average is 93.91.
Mad Pikachu
This should be a safe 3-0 win for Pietreczko, but he is quite mad and he has more chance of beating himself than Suzuki has.
The market makes Pietreczko the 1.10 favourite and Suzuki 10.00. The German is just 1.83 to win 3-0 but that is exactly what he should do, if he just keeps his head down and ignores the crowd.
If he starts to take on 3-4000 pissed up punters, he may lose the plot and let Suzuki nick a few legs and maybe a set. It will be interesting to watch, but I’ll be keeping my cash in my wallet.
2024 WC Darts Tuesday Evening Tip: No Bet
Michael van Gerwen vs. Keane Barry
Barry was nearly bored to death when playing Reynaldo Rivera in the first round. Just staying awake for the duration was a challenge such was the sloth like pace of the Filipino. At least that will not be the case in this match, but the downside is that MVG is likely to beat him.
Van Gerwen has won eight of his last ten matches, hit five ton plus averages, including a 118.52. He may not be the title winning machine he once was, but he remains in the top four or five players in the world.
These two have met twice before, both on the Euro Tour and MVG won both 6-4 and 6-2.
Barry has lost seven of his last ten matches and while he has a ton plus A game, it is his B game that has mostly been on display recently, and that isn’t going to be good enough.
MVG A Hot Fav
Van Gerwen is the 1.10 favourite with Keane Barry 9.00. This should be another 3-0 match but maybe not. MVG has played fifteen last 64 matches and won fourteen.
He won four 3-0, one 3-2 but nine he won 3-1 against some very forgettable players. Eleven of his opening matches required over 3.5 sets and if he has a bit of a wobble or gets complacent, Barry is good enough to take advantage.
