2024 UK Open Friday Afternoon Tips

Now, it is time for James Punt’s 2024 UK Open Friday Afternoon Preview. He has already posted his outright preview for the tournament, that can be viewed here. His tips for Friday’s action are below.

Chaotic

With 128 matches to get through on Friday, rounds 1-4, there are eight boards in use. All eight can be accessed via PDCTV, but for regular TV coverage only Stage 1 and Stage 2 will be broadcast. It is total chaos and not helped by the TV commentators giving out the results from the streamed boards, before the streaming coverage has finished.

Value

I’ll take a look at the matches which look like offering up a bit of value on Day 1. Day 2 may only see limited coverage here as it clashes with the Bahrain GP, but we have time to cover the quarter finals on Sunday.

The bookmakers are not offering the usual full range of match betting on all matches, such as correct score or handicaps etc, and there are a lot of short odds on favourites. I am not going to give the matches the full preview treatment either, but hopefully we can still find some profit.

2024 UK Open Friday Tip: 1 point accumulator on the above matches @ 6.38 with Ladbrokes

A match on TV! Lennon had to go back to Q school to get his card back in January and did so. His performances in 2024 have been very good at times. He is averaging 94.18, has won six of his last ten matches and has a seasonal win rate of 74%.

Labre, on the other hand has only played eight matches in 2024, lost seven and is averaging 81.73. They have played twice before, Lennon won both, 6-2 and 6-3.
