2024 German Darts Monday Tips
Last night didn’t go fully to plan for James Punt but it has still been a decent weekend so far and we are still in with a chance of landing an outright winner with the two Smiths, Ross and Michael. Check out his 2024 German Darts Monday Tips below.
Josh Rock vs. Michael Smith
Rock just about got over the line against Richard Veenstra yesterday. The Northern Irishman was in control at 3-1 and 5-3 up but Veenstra squared it at 5-5. However, he failed to hold his throw, and Rock won the match with a 17 dart leg.
Rock averaged 94.36 and he played well in snatches. Rock has won four of his last ten matches and yesterday’s effort didn’t quite suggest that he is back on track.
Michael Smith beat Cameron Menzies 6-4 in a much better game. Smith averaged 102, Menzies 100. Smith was 75% on his doubles and hit four maximums. It was a complete performance and he has now strung five very good performances together. Too early to say he is back to his best, but the direction of travel is positive.
Their H2H record is 5-2 to Smith and he is the 1.61 favourite to win, with Rock a standout 3.00 with Betvictor. Fingers crossed Smith can carry our outright bet into the quarter finals, and I think he will.
2024 German Darts Monday Tip: No Bet
Gerwyn Price vs. Ryan Searle
Price got a 6-4 win over Peter Wright. Price averaged 100 but he missed 14 doubles and had Wright been playing well, Price was in bother. As it was, Wright only averaged 91.56 and missed eight doubles himself.
Price continues to score well, but he looks far from convincing, especially on the doubles. He has won five of his last ten matches, a poor return on ten matches with no average worse than 97.
Ryan Searle didn’t have to do much to beat the hapless Steve Lennon, 6-2. Scuba Steve was out of his depth and was useless on the outer ring. It wasn’t really a game. Searle has won five of his last ten matches and is playing with no great consistency.
If Price can have a good game on the doubles, and he can, he wins. If he struggles, Searle might still not do it.
Their H2H record is 7-2 to Price, but they have only met three times in the last three years, with Price winning two.
Price is the 1.61 favourite and Searle a standout 2.75, again with Betvictor. Given their respective form, I can’t back either.
2024 German Darts Monday Tip: No Bet
Rob Cross vs. Danny Noppert
Another hard call. Rob Cross beat a disappointing Daryl Gurney 6-2 after Superchin’s doubling prowess deserted him. That allowed Cross to win comfortably and with a decent performance. Cross has won five of his last ten matches, but outside of his very poor effort against Peter Wright last Thursday, he has played very well.
Danny Noppert beat Gian van Veen in an excellent match. Van Veen averaged 108.51 but that wasn’t quite enough to get passed the resilient Dutchman. Noppert averaged 104.61, was 60% on the doubles and hit five maximums.
Noppert has won six of his last ten matches and last night’s performance was his best since last October. I would be surprised if he repeats it again today.
These two played at this stage of ET1 a few weeks ago and it was Cross who won 6-1. Noppert had beaten Dobey in the first round, averaging nearly 100, but only 90 against Cross. Overall their H2H record is 4-3 to Cross and usually they have reasonably close matches, so last month’s thrashing was a surprise.
Cross is the 1.72 favourite and those odds are good enough for a bet.
2024 German Darts Monday Tip: 1 point Rob Cross to win @ 1.72 with SpreadEx
Luke Humphries vs. Ryan Joyce
Luke Humphries is the 1.30 favourite and he is hard to resist. He has won eight of his last ten matches and hit eight ton plus averages, including a 108 last night when beating Woodhouse 6-3.
Ryan Searle shut the home crowd up very quickly in yesterday’s 6-1 thrashing of Pietreczko. It was a 102 average, with 55% on the doubles. Just as he did with Doets, he just out doubled his opponent.
Joyce’s problem here is that Humphries is almost as good as him on the outer ring. Humphries is ranked third to Joyce’s first. Humphries is also much stronger on scoring. Their 12 month averages are 93.58 for Joyce, and 99.28 for Humphries.
Four In A Row
Their H2H record is 4-2 to Humphries, and Cool Hand has won their last four, 6-1, 6-2, 6-4 and 11-3. I would say that a 4-6 loss for Joyce is at the top end of his performance.
He will need something like yesterday’s performance to get to 6-4 and going back to back 102s would not be quite in character.
He did play at that level last October, when he won PC26 at 175.00, and made me very happy, but that was Joyce at his very best, and on the floor. I’ll take the chance that Humphries can cover a -2.5 leg handicap.
2024 German Darts Monday Tip: 1 point Luke Humphries to win -2.5 legs @ 1.85 with Ladbrokes, Boylesports
Nathan Aspinall vs. Ross Smith
The Asp has now won seven of his last ten matches and starting to look in decent nick. He beat Van Duijvenbode 6-4, despite being a little sloppy on the doubles. Dirk was 4-1 up and really should have killed it, but Aspinall is well known for his comebacks.
Smudger beat Brendan Dolan 6-1, but it was fair to say that Dolan didn’t show up. Smith started slowly, was great in the middle of the game, but tailed off when cruising home. That made it eight wins from his last ten matches and while I’d like to see more 180s, he is getting the job done.
Their H2H record is 4-3 to Smith and he has won their last three in a row, all last year.
Aspinall is the 1.91 favourite, Smith 2.00. We are on Smith outright and that is enough for me. Hopefully he can make it four in a row.
2024 German Darts Monday Tip: No Bet
Martin Schindler vs. Chris Dobey
Schindy has won six of his last ten matches and he played well against a very poor Damon Heta yesterday. The German averaged 99 while Heta was 9% on the doubles. Schindler has the home crowd on his side, but can he repeat yesterday’s level?
Chris Dobey was excellent in the first round, but he was very ordinary in a 6-4 win over Ratajski yesterday. He missed twelve doubles, which made things more difficult that they should have been. Dobey has won six of his last ten matches and is playing OK.
Their H2H record is 3-3 and all but one match required over 9.5 legs.
2024 German Darts Monday Tip: 1 point over 9.5 legs @ 1.95 with Boylesports
Michael van Gerwen vs. Joe Cullen
MVG needed ten legs to beat Jeffrey de Zwaan yesterday, despite De Zwaan averaging just 83. MVG just went to sleep and he was never in any real trouble. Van Gerwen has won six of his last ten matches and remains shy of his best.
Joe Cullen was good enough to beat Jonny Clayton 6-3 and it was a match with some merits. He has averaged 99 and 96 in his two matches so far and he feels like his game is almost there. He has won seven of his last ten matches, but his consistency hasn’t quite been there so far.
Their H2H record is 25-10 to MVG, with the Dutchman winning their last five in a row. Cullen has beaten MVG in two Euro Tour finals, and that was when MVG was the better player.
They have had some close matches, not least the Premier League final which went to a decider. I can see another close one. Their last three best of eleven leg matches required a deciding leg.
2024 German Darts Monday Tip: 1 point over 9.5 legs @ 2.20 with Betfair
Dave Chisnall vs. Jermaine Wattimena
Chisnall beat van den Bergh 6-4 in a fairly dire match. Van den Bergh averaged just 84, Chisnall 90. A win is a win and Chisnall has won nine of his last ten.
Wattimena, like Ricky Evans, has realised that he can play better if he just slows down a little. As a result he has won seven of his last ten and he is attempting to reach his second Euro Tour quarter final in a row.
Their H2H record is 7-3 to Chisnall. It is 4-0 on the Euro Tour and despite Wattimena playing better, Chisnall should get through. Four of their nine best of eleven leg matches have ended 6-4 and something similar would be no surprise.
